FYI

Andy Garton
..snip..
To be up front - even in the latest version, there are occasional framerate drops in worst case scenarios. The vast majority of the time though it's a smooth 60fps. The article neatly ignores that and focuses hard on those worst case scenarios. The recent camera and render bridge changes (which aren't in the EG build of course) make a significant difference to perceived smoothness, as well as improving control/gameplay when FPS does drop.
..snip..

It's a ****** way of handling things from EG.

edit, ok if Namco stated it's a submit version fair game - then it's ****** way of handling things from Namco's part.

the plot thickens...

but seriously, it seems the devs are quietly confident with their product and if I have to race with some visual effects turned down or off to achieve solid fps then so be it. I would rather avoid screen tear as I personally cannot stand it.

in comparison those VVV videos of an older build do look pretty good so fingers crossed.

Exactly Bleeder my friend.... We saw from TeamVVV's first video on Tuesday, with 43 RUFs on track at the same time, without a hint of slowdown or FR drop.... Looks to me as if Eurogamer has an agenda!!! They're waiting for GT6 for sure.... Good luck with that! Lol!!

If SMS was wary of an EG unfair appreciation, why did they gave them the opportunity to preview an early/unpolished build in the first place?

My T300 GTE has been sitting in its box a month prior to the last delay, popping it's cherry with the likes of Driveclub just didn't seem right.;)
I've been using Driveclub to break it in, real nice and smooth. not sure how much fun I would've had with that game and a pad but the wheel has been a lot of fun. but not long to go until the real deal!

Bamco are just eager to get the game out there. guess they gone done 🤬 up

If I were you, I would take it out and give it a go. Just in case you have any pedal issues or less likely, wheel issues. Alot of them had these problems. it will give you time to replace anything before release if need be. Hope its all good.

In such a case blaming EG isn't the most appropriate reaction, better send them the final build and clear up any confusion.

Let me quote Andy again as an answer for you and fyi for all..

As a reply for a "official statement" query :

I'm not sure what it would say beyond what I've already said in more formal language - a number of people ****ed up and it's ****!
I know Namco are trying to fix it their end. SMS are as well, and our current approach is to try and accelerate getting an up-to-date console build in the hands of sites that are professional and know what they're doing (VVV and Gamersyde for example). Clear evidence in the form of some 60fps videos is better than any "statement" imo.

Andy gave the green light for the quote, but the swear filter doesn't agree.

That said, the number of videos out there proving this info to be outdated is already huge. Once there are a couple of official reviews of the gold build I'm sure they'll be forgotten quickly. 👍

Well if it's an old build and now it's much better EG are usually keep in correcting their views and stating their mistakes. I'm surprised they didn't get a gold or pre-gold version to be tested.

The game just gone gold, God, i'm really hyped right now, i can't wait to get the game. Hopefully someone will leak the game just like they did with other games so i could buy the game immediately and maybe try to do what i did with GT6, doing Q/A and share video's (unless people don't want to get spoiled).

I wonder if this would fit here?

Geez, I heard this song so much during my GTA5 single player campaign, one and a half years ago...

I am sure it is much better than what Eurogamer articles says. Which carefully records the worst case scenario to get hits. They do the same for GT 👎

I have stopped going to their site and I hope others as well. Please do not give them hits. Everyone knows gaming rig with a 500$ gfx card will run better than PS4 which will run better than Xbone and it will probably be 720P on WiiU whenever they release it. No need to visit their site :yuck:

Its more than that, this is a build from nearly 3 months ago, the build where the X1 version was first show, un optimized, un finished and not a final representation, pathetic journalism reporting outdated irreverent information unfair to SMS, Sony and Microsoft. I expect the article by Eurogamer to amended, but it seems the issue is with Namco letting these things happen

I wouldn't mind not playing with 44 cars and rain enabled to be honest, and aside from that, I'm really impressed with everything else in the article.

Well done Slightly Mad *applause* (acting on the assumption this does not get patched which it will probably).

Surprised the XBone version hsd even worse FPS drops with lower resolution (dat dx12 secret sauce).

Read, the comments above

Yeah, I told you guys that even my PC with $600 video card in it can barely get 50 Fps at worst case scenario conditions (night+rain+starting grid), and I'm running a mix of high and ultra. All ultra would drop that to 30-40 at that condition. So yeah, consoles are and have been outdated from the moment they released, so if they can mostly keep it at 60, except for rain conditions, I think it's still a good achievement. Although, like has been said, performance improved a lot since this old build and also camera changes they did make the lower frame rate seem fine.

I exaggerated slightly I did take it out of the box (firstly to check there was a wheel and not a breeze block inside can't be too careful:nervous:). And secondly to hook it up to a PC and sort the dead zones etc;) Appreciate the heads up though:tup:
