Of course it could have been changed, but why? The patch is in the certification process, most probably out next week. The one after that is already in the works. What would have been gained if they would have delayed the DLC and the event until after that? The cars are done, why holding them back? Why should they have kept them from the people who are enjoying them now and how would this make anyone happy? It makes no sense. It would have been silly.
Nope - Hold it all back until the game is 100% in all areas.

(not)

DLC being released with all the well known bugs to be fixed. What a joke.

I know that people modelling cars are not the same people responsible to fixing the game, but that is not the way. Firstly, you fix your broken product, then you can put new stuff on the market. To me, shows SMS is just like a regular developer, which doesn't really care about quality and its consumers.

First, SMS has made console gamers around the world beta testers without ROI, and now this.

Gaming, in general, has become a sad place.
Car modelers aren't working on game code, they can do both at the same time. Delaying the DLC would actually take programming effort away from fixing bugs because some game code and all the work that goes into preparing for a DLC drop on consoles and steam, would have to be halted and recreated later on.

And your argument falls apart at the fact that car modellers cannot fix bugs in other departments. So you want them to..... What? Stop making cars until bugs are fixed that they have no control over?

As I said, I know modelling is not programing. What annoys me is that the game is bugged and broken beyond any resonable standard and yet, before some very nasty oversights and bugs being fixed, SMS is in a hurry to sell more content.

If you think that is ok, fine. But I do not.

Because gaming is in a sad state, and the game is nothing but a glorified beta.

I mean, obviously.

It is a glorified beta on PS4, shows lot of promise and can be very fun to play (when you don't bump into invisible objects, or the game crashes your console, or makes the wheel jump and lock, or you lose a carefuly made setup for nothing, or the sound goes off, etc, etc, etc), but is far, far beyond finished. Can't speak about other versions though.

over the past week I've spent hours tuning my regular McLaren F1 into something driveable. something that almost brakes nicely and handles pretty sweet. had an epic race round Bathurst and knew I'd created a decent package.

today I bought the Icons DLC and got to drive the F1 GTR. wow. what a difference. it has grip! and brakes! and it turns in!

and that old BMW is pretty sweet too. I'm strangely drawn to the older (80s/90s) cars more than anything modern. showing my age a bit :)

Only for some unfortunate souls, most of us are able to enjoy the PCARS experience, albeit with some bugs that hamper career mode as of now. But 'broken beyond any reasonable standard' is exaggerated.
most of my glitches come and go but the couple of ones that happen every time I've had the game on for a few hours (is it possible the bugs get worse after long periods of gameplay? like a memory issue?) are the loss of engine audio and the grid not loading properly, where I can see underneath the track and grandstands. don't suffer many others thankfully, although I've not played career much hehe

Ridiculously exaggerated. The bugs are inconvenient at most, not gamebreaking. This is the problem some of us are having with your point, wowbagger.

I understand you play it on PC, right?

Since you have not experienced the game on consoles, like I do on my PS4, I don't see how can you say that I'm exagerating things. I wouldn't be so bitter about it if all things going wrong happened just on my console, or even on a small percentage of the user base, which is not the case.

Or maybe the game crashes my PS4 for fun. As Ian Bell would put it, "it's not a bug! It's a feature!" 💡

Some of them are just inconvenient and time consuming, granted. But everything adds up to a breaking point.

I've been experiencing lots of crashes on my PS4, like others have. There are lots of reports here in GTP and in the pCARS foruns. In my case, I did removed and reinstalled the game three times so far. Seems to be more stable so far, but you never know.

If the game causing hard resets on the consosle isn't gamebreaking, well, nothing more is and that perception seems to explain why developers can get away with everything.

Be it any other game, I would have give up by now. Sigh, GT6 lasted for less than a week here...

Yes, i have the AI in the rain like everybody which bothers me the most, but apart from that nothing serious. I thought PS4 was ok too?

it's how it effects different people to various different levels that's the issue. I've only experienced 3 major crashes on PS4 so far but others like yourself must have it worse. don't know why this is the case. I went digital too. the wheel goes weird perhaps once a week and my audio plays up a fair amount. I wouldn't say it's horrendous but I hope for everyone it gets sorted once and for all.

hope to see the next patch details soon after 1.4 comes out as that one didn't list many of the issues I've had.

I've had many crashes but I don't even care because I know it will get fixed.

Running on PS4 and have only have one crash out of the system so far (which did corrupt my save - cloud back-up fixed that), but apart from that its been the occasional niggely issue rather than anything major.

When it rains, I simply get pratical, jump practice and qualifying sessions and lower the AI level a lot for the race, from 90% to 30% in most cases. Screw them.

On consoles, we don't have access to weather forecast, which amazes me every single time I get into a race with rain, so that is the way to keep playing the carreer: dumbing down the bots to a retard level.

The lack of weather data is an incredible oversight, since wind, temperature and whatnot, have impact on your performance. But hey, PC mastar race, it seems. Though a simple UI redesign would solve the issue, since the data is in the game already.

About the game bugs on PS4, my main gripe is the crashes and the hiting invisible things on track (I've been fortunate enough to not have some Thrustmaster shenanigans that a lot of people have reported). Fix those and I'll be joyful.

Withou going PD's route, which introduces new bugs every update, that is.

Gran Turismo's La Sarthe is an old asset, built around a scanning of the surface of that track made in 2009. Since then, the tarmac were rebuilt, mainly because of the deformation caused by lorries and heavy traphic. So, nowadays the public road bit have a much smoother track than you would find couple years ago.

In short, pCARS is more accurate.

Wow, that was an amazing explanation, I was like wow, this person has a great answer, it still seemed like something was not right though because you can clearly see the car suspension moving around and I just wasn’t feeling anything. Luckily for me the link to the Jack Spade FFB was posted as this gave me a lot of the missing road feel that I was looking for.

lancashire lad,
Thanks for the link, the settings gave me what I knew was missing, It’s just a shame that the wheel doesn’t auto calibrate and set the FFB to a lively setting by default, if it wasn’t for this forum and the people that are very helpful, I would have simply given up on this game. So, a very sincere thanks!!!

I also wanted to say again that I am very happy to see that SMS is putting out a patch (1.4) to address the PS4 visual issues, that will satisfy me and a lot of others,

And that new "Racing Icons” Car Pack is enough to make me love this Game Studio!!! WOW!!!

I've played on PS4 for close to 20 hours so far (racing time) all offline CM, RW and TT, and only had the game crash once, audio bug/loss of control once and the view from under the track at the start once or twice, not too bad at all for me, a million miles away from game breaking though I appreciate that some are having a worse time of it.
I will say this, regardless of any bugs and glitches in PCars (which I'm sure will be fixed)-
I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Three days ago I'd have called wowbagger full of something unpleasant, but over the past two days project cars had sent my PS4 into rest mode 5 or 6 times while I'm racing. In the first 30 hours I had only a few hiccups but over the past two days I can only race for about 10 minutes before my PS4 goes off for a nap. Never happened before with any game.
I might delete and reinstall and hope for the best.

Oh my god I'm loving this DLC pack.:D:bowdown:Man they are fantastic to drive. Yeah I drove 4 of 5 (gt3 Bentley ain't on gt5 and gt6) but you know the cars handle more realistic on project cars even though gt handling model is not bad but anyway wow I was in free practice for a while putting down tons of laps for each of these cars.:)

Yeah, just me. Only me. Nobody else.

Must be my imagination. Or is a collective hallucination. Or it is a feature, after all.

I'm exaggerating, it seems. Because the game only crashes on my PS4. Everybody else is happy!

Well, my mate's PS4 freezes and crashes ( black screen ) couple of times when we played Pcars for about 2 hours. His PS4 is only about 4-5 months old, and he only had about 4-5 games so far ( he bought 2 more a few days ago ). He was mad as he told me it had happened several times randomly and he concerned about the PS4, the other games never had any freezes or crashes.
I suggested the game as a present from his wife for his birthday :( Now the game is on the shelves and he won't touch it. Maybe I can persuade him to update the game when the patch is live. He's the one who gave me idea to check car's accuracy ( Evo X that he used to own ), but he won't let me play it when I visit him :banghead:

This game keeps getting better and better. I really need to put in for some vacation time soon to enjoy this game even more. 30 minutes a day is not getting it done for me.
The doc signed me off last month until August due to a recent medical problem (cardiac arrest). Needless to say PCars is really helping to fill up the time while I convalesce. Since the patch my only problems on Xbone are AI in the rain and the occasional race starting without audio. Nothing major. Nevertheless I'm still seriously considering pulling the trigger on buying a gaming PC.

Sorry to hear of your medical problems...but if you enjoy virtual racing you would have no problem filling your time. I think I may have too many racing sims  Between pCARS, Assetto Corsa, R3E, Stock Car Extreme, rFactor 2, DiRT Rally there isn't enough time in the day, and they're all excellent!

Nah, it is your imagination. The game is perfect and the crashes are a feature.

There are people here who fought so hard PD's blind apologists only to became SMS' apologists. Kinda funny.
