i also bought the ST50! 55" at a great price when they were being cleared out. love it, it's fantastic. sadly i do my gaming on a slightly older Panasonic plasma, but i can't have everything. i think OLEDs might be the only tvs that would come close to top end plasmas in my opinion but i've got no plans to get one anytime soon

Yeah that's what I think too. New LED-LCDs might have better clarity when viewed up close, but the extra contrast black levels and overall color range is really nice both for games and movies.

I don't want to buy something that would be a downgrade in color quality from what I'm used to :p.

I too am very excited for VR, but I'm not sure if I would go for it until I could get a 4k VR headset. 1080p is a bit low, especially on an image that will look as big as a 80" TV viewed at one meter.

4K VR headset that's affordable…. that will be Project CARS 3 in 5 years time lol. Not being rude or anything but don't you guys think the TV discussions have completely gone out of topic and deserve to be on a new thread?

2K phone screens exist and have almost all of the hardware needed for VR, take out the unneccassary radios, battery etc etc and you could be looking to sell a good VR headset for a comparable cost to a high end handset. Probably wishful thinking on my part as the economies of scale wouldn't be there but having seen the impressive effect achieved with just a mobile phone and a dumb VR "Case" I like to think that we aren't that far from truly impressive and reasonably affordable dedicated headsets.

I imagine there will be release news by the end of this week. Whether it is good/bad new is up to them I guess though. But I think if there is another delay it'll hurt SMS's reputation really bad.

Apologies if I missed any, but WMD members seems a bit silent of late? Any WMD members still on GTP or busy playing the finished game in the dark room? lol

Its a lose/lose situation with the gaming community these days, if you rush a game out the door or get a game to be released "on time" then people complain. If a developer delays the game a couple of times and take their time with the game, then people complain.

but it's the delaying so close to release that is irritating people. the last time was about 3 weeks before the release date, if it happens again there will be a lot of disgruntled folks around here, myself included.

I meant more from the standpoint of their reputation. Missing 3 deadlines is a worrying sign of incompetence. Especially since they don't have a publisher on their back trying to rush the game.

True, If it does happen again they will be hard to trust, in fact they already are.

It's all very good and reasonable argument but then SMS isn't new in the industry. And overall the gaming industry needs to grow up and be able to estimate their time a bit better.

Even though that something is more common lately, for their consumers and investors, it's not healthy on both product quality and profitability. Any delays results in lost of revenue and cost overheads.

There were new build notes today so I assume it is still not finished. That said the list is very small and seems like they are almost ready to go. In due time we'll see I guess.

The "mid may" date is smart (kind of) , because SMS can announce a date whenever the game goes gold, hopefully.

Now back on topic ;), I have given up any announcements about dates as they lost all credibility after three delays. I will not expect anything until they announce that game's gone gold and sent out to production than I will believe we're a month away.

Given still nothing then safe to say to expect further delays? Any WMD member have anything to add or NDA?

Let's just hope phones get 4k displays (or at least 3k) soon, then VR headsets can just use the same displays as phone manucaturers use and it would be easier to keep costs down. I suspect that the display is one of the more expensive parts in a VR headset.

Hopefully the devs are quiet as they are working around the clock to finish the game for May!! Looking at these videos of recent days it now looks ready to me, beautiful in fact!!!! Come on SMS release the game!!!!

Can anyone confirm what it appears to be like from PC early access so far?

The handling model will be nothing like NFS Shift, that has been made quite obvious by the huge amount of videos and posts on multiple forums as well as what SMS have always told us.

I wish i could test that theory on my PS4!!!!! It now says 23 days til release on the PS Store, but it might as well be a life time for not knowing for sure!!

Lol, yeah me too mate. I've been in countdown mode for what seems an eternity. I haven't turned a virtual wheel since Oct last year when I made the jump from X360 to PS4 so I am hanging out for PCars big time!
Fingers crossed for no more delays though I am quietly confident that we will see it next month. :cheers:
