Yeah, and every post he's making on the WMD forums is just there to keep us believing he likes the game and he never posts something he doesn't like. Oh wait...

Please keep your "They're paid, so their opinion doesn't mean s**t" simracer attitude for yourself. Thanks.
What people don't get is SMS barely have the money to develop the game, let alone bribe rich race drivers.

I initially had AC on 720p as I didn't realize, and i can assure you setting it to 1080p made a big difference ;)
It's already evident in the menu's let alone in the gameplay itself.

The point I was making is that at normal viewing distances for TVs the difference will be minimal between 1080P and 720P. I edited my post to include a chart of viewing distances vs screen size. Where about do you fall on this chart?

If you are talking about sitting at a desk with a reasonably large monitor or TV in front of you then you will definitely see it.

In regards to the whole resolution difference issue, it isn't something that is a massive problem, but it is annoying that the Xbox one isn't quite matching the console of the same price, (actually costing more at launch) and it is annoying that is inferior. This is something blame Xbox for though.

That is surprising, are you using like for like sources?

Based on this chart you are just about on the borderline of "Full Benefit of 1080P", I would still be surprised if this was a massively noticeable difference when you were comparing like for like from the same source, it would be there but not hugely obvious I would expect.
I'm not going by a chart I'm going by my own . I can and have download the same content at both 720p and 1080p and play them one after the other and the difference is easily noticable. Everything is just crisper and sharper in 1080p, even at 7 feet away. Perhaps not everyone is as discerning as me. :sly:. I do download stuff for other people and they notice the quality differences right away as well. The difference at 900 vs. 1080 would be far less noticable obviously, as it splits the difference. I think screen size has a lot to do with it too. On a 42" tv the size of thelines of resolution at 720p are almost the same as they are on a 55" at 1080p. On a bigger screen the difference is more noticable unless you're sitting very far away.

Is this corner cutting feature the announcement? Also, will there be a way to disable the feature? It is quite unrealistic compared to real life where you could get a time or drive through penalty.
Hopefully it's optional.

In GRID: Autosport it was okay but a little too harsh in places, penalising you in areas where you wouldn't gain time by going off-track. Also, if you have to cut a corner to avoid an accident you shouldn't get a penalty.

The last thing is something that would be near impossible to discern in either offline or online play.

It's unfortunate that Xbox owners are having this issue but at the same time I can't help but have a little rye smile as I put up with it for 8 years having inferior ps3 multi plats to xbox.

I also think the average Tom dick and harry won't notice the difference in the res but some certainly will. At the end of the day I'm sure they'll be ooverlooked If the game plays as good as it looks

Being an X1 only owner this news doesn't upset me even in the slightest. I am happy that they are able to optimize each platform to its greatest extent. Hell most AAA devs have a hard time getting multiplats above 900p. So I am happy that they got PS4 to 1080 and X1 to 900. Now all I ask for is this FPS to be a rock solid 60FPS.

Well i'm about a meter away playing on a wheel, but it's quite logical that the further you sit the less you notice details :D
I would say 720 vs 1080p will always be noticeable in living room conditions on a big enough screen.

Even at 1080p, about three feet from my 27" screen, it's not like the pixels become too small to notice. Games have always been made from pixels. I play NES games to this day -- I spent $40 on a deinterlacer box for my LCD monitor specifically for that purpose (and researched that combo for the least possible input lag). That's 240p. Oh, the horror?

A metre is pretty close for living room conditions, I would say 2+ is much more typical.

It is all about the ratio of screen size to distance from screen, that is why I think that for the vast majority of people who play on a console (therefore generally in a living room scenario) there won't be a noticeable difference between 900p and 1080p.

Yup but you said 720p first

I know I did, because I was initially talking about 720p to make the point that in a typical living room setup there is minimal difference between 720p and 1080p. Which is a point I stand by, you sitting a metre from your screen or someone else sitting 7 feet from a 55" panel aren't what I would call typical.

^ Hehe... We all feel the itch to get on with the racing :)

I'm afraid "patch" doesn't mean a patch for the final product, it's just the daily build, which is deployed as a patch technically speaking.

yeah...this is why the whole resolution war does not bother me...I play my Xbox on a 32' inch tv about 8" from it...I would never notice the difference as the Xbox One outputs on 1080p which is my tv resolution. If I was in a bigger room playing on a bigger screen, well that would be a different story...

Amazing. People are surprised that a considerably less powerful hardware have less performance than a more powerful one running a graphic and physics intense simulation software.

The internet.

I get that a PC is vastly superior for playing games, and not just in the graphics sense but I am a console gamer through and through and I, without a doubt, will be buying this on PS4, with my DS4. Just like I do with every new game that comes out.

All I'm seeing on the latest PCARS stuff is "PC Master Race!" comments as if everyone with a PC will be playing it at 12k...
3x1080p is however very easy to do. I could do that with just a GPU upgrade for less than the cost of a PS4.
And one additional PC monitor.

Wich will be, including the monitor, more than a ps4. But I want start the war again.
Look at what was said by... I don't know. I liked it.
Everyone got their favorites.
Let's all enjoy Pcars at our favored systems!
