it's just...wrong.

The only car that should be under AC would be the original cobra with it's wimpy bristol engine.

You're forgetting the superb AC Petite ;)

That would mean thee is no such car as the AC 289 and AC Cobra 427. It would be OK if it were under both AC and Shelby.

Just would like to know if there is an English option like in the Japanese Tokyo Demo of GT4 to know if it is worth importing the game or not. ( The settings screen must be crazy if you can't read anything :( )

Yes, and it's very fast and very LOUD ... and has a very broken front end now ): They didn't finish the Saturday race and didn't enter the Sunday sprints.

Yes, you can blow your engine. I've done it only once, but I remember flooring the engine during the countdown, and after it launched there was this big pop sound, then you can no longer accelerate beyond 2k rpm or something, and your engine keeps popping and you can see blow-off from the mufflers.

To me, this is by far the best graphics on PS2, only if you have the gear to run it in 1080i. The physics are excellent, cornering seems harder, as u can really feel the shifting of balance when u swing from side to side. The new G-force bar on the bottom shows u how many G's you're pulling when cornering. Like i said previously, running into other cars or walls causes a sudden blur-out effect. Engine sounds are excellent and accurate as well.

I dont know about the pitcrews though.

Tuning options galore, you can not only buy rims, but also spoilers for your car. Lots of aftermarket tuning shops are available, such as SPOON, MINES, HKS, etc.

GT4 feels much harder than previous versions. Not only is the AI tough, but the new A-Spec points system will prove to be a tough challenge. Basically when you enter a race, the more mods you have on that car, the lower the amount of A-Spec points will be awarded to you if you win the race. So if you take a weaker car into a race, you will win more A-Spec points. But if your car is all tuned up, you will be looking at little to no points. This system makes the game extremely challenging.

looks like all owners of gt4 are currently to busy playing the game or sleeping!

I find this discussion about AC and Shelby amusing, especially in a forum of supposed automotive experts...

The original Cobra was the AC 260 Cobra and was a collaborative effort with AC (which had lost their supplier of engines) and FoMoCo (which had a new 260 V8 with no target market), with Carrol Shelby in charge of design/integration. It was introduced to the US in 1962. Later it was upgraded to the AC 289 Cobra and released in the US and Europe, and finally upgraded (including major frame and body upgrades) to the AC 427 Cobra.

Shelby went on to develope the Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs (another FoMoCo project), which had no association with AC and in 1990 started his own company producing his own car, the Shelby Series 1.

So the Cobra should be in the AC livery, the GT350/500 in the Ford livery and the Series 1 in the Shelby livery...

Exactley NoQuarter, although I personally feel the 427 had so much work done to it by Shelby it's only fair to credit Shelby with that model. All of them though are as you said AC Cobra's.

Wasn't the Shelby Cobra technically a modified AC Ace?

AC nowadays does still make Cobra replicas.

Only they arn't replicas, AC Cobra's are the real deal. There technically no such thing as a real Shelby Cobra since all Shelby Cobra's are AC Cobra's.

The GT350/500's should be called Fords just as much as Rufs should be called Porsches. They left Shelby's factory with Shelby VINs, not Ford.

Edit: What happened to Orca, they've been bragging all over the place that the C113 was going to be in the game.

A lot of Hidden Cars were shown on GT3 in the demos when you were inactive on the main screen, maybe someone whould watch all of these demos and report back and nice cars they see.

I hope we can launch our car in the air again, like in GT2. It made going for the top speed more real.

Hmmm that reminds me, wonder if/how car (& part) wear is implemented...

Where was the AC before Shelby/Ford got involved? As stated, they didn't even have any engines. Shelby had to redesign it in order to accomodate the new engine etc. It was due to his racing experience that they became what they were. Hell, as stated in the link above, the car wasn't even origionally available anywhere but in the US.
Take Shelby away from the Cobra, and the car probably wouldn't even be in the game. Take the car away from Shelby, and he'd still have left a significant mark on the automotive world. So who do you think deserves the credit? :p Quit trying to ride coat tails. :D

The only one that was redesigned was the 427, the others just recieved a new engine. Okay there were some that had a few little bits changed as well a but it was only the 427 that recieved an extensive work over. So as I said I would give Shelby credit for the 427, but all other models, no. As for shelby still making a significant mark on the automotive world, the Cobra is the biggest. Nothing else he's done comes close even the series 1. The fact is the Cobra is an AC and NOT a Shelby regardless of who you or I feel deserves the credit. But putting a different engine into a car does not suddenly mean you made that car.

Take away AC and you wouldn't have that georgous body shell or car at all. AC and Shelby both had their name on the Cobra and were both as important as each other in the Cobra's success.

This AC/Shelby discussion is jacking the thread.

Did I hallucinate a yellow Gillet Vertigo somewhere? I swear I've seen a picture, and now I can't find it anywhere.

Everyone here should take a deep breath, go outside and play in the snow, or in the sand, and leave the 2 or 3 guys that have the game fully enjoy it.
