methodofpaymentis the ps3 goin to be all region?👍![]()
We get in 720p high-definition, for one thing. I don't think we'll ever get to see a 1080p game, though. That means game developers would have less to work with. Why would they do that? But, if they have a game idea that does not require a lot of power, they could then afford to make a 1080p game, but I don't see that happening either. It'll be cool, though, if it happens.Fonce DiabloKnowing that PS3 will be Blu-ray capable, what kind of games would that mean for us?
Ace Combat 7 with 300 planes? Gran Turismo 5 ending up with north of 1,000 cars?
Just exactly what can these programmers do with 54 gigs of data?
...and I want the silver one.
Space for content isn't the issue yet, it's making everything hi-def that is. GT4 had 700 cars and however many tracks yet used up a little over half the disk space. GT4 could have had 2000 cars and it would have fitted on the disk. The problem is, we'd still be waiting for the game to be released now if it was to have that many.Fonce DiabloKnowing that PS3 will be Blu-ray capable, what kind of games would that mean for us?

Actually Vision GT trailers show only 16 car on track, but yeah, it would be nice to have huge grids on the game.Solid LiftersGT5 will have 22 to 26 cars on the track at one time. Rally stages will have 4 to 8 cars at one time. That's not in stone, but just the obvious from the Vision Gran Turismo video we saw at E3 2005.
The Nurb course cars numbered 18, and there could have been more because the clip end rather abruptly. Plus, the Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway clip shows 23 cars, which means, more than likely, it had 24 cars, at least, racing on the course at the same time. The Costa di Amalfi course had eight Rally cars, while the Grand Canyon Rally had only six. I'm betting others will only have four Rally cars.FatAssBRActually Vision GT trailers show only 16 car on track, but yeah, it would be nice to have huge grids on the game.
FatAssBRHmm, I guess I haven't watched all the trailers then.![]()

January 30, 2006 - Finally, some PS3 news! No, we don't have details on the supposed February demo event, nor do we have any new bits on Metal Gear Solid 4. Instead, we have the tinest of updates on the PS3 development front.
Web Technology, a Japan-based company that provides development tools, has announced the availability of its Optix ImageStudio graphics tools for the PlayStation 3. The toolkit will be available starting 2/1 at a cost of 360,150 yen per license (that's over $3,000, in case you were getting any ideas). Developers using Ver.5 of the PS2 version of the toolkit can upgrade at 147,000 yen.
The PS3 version of Optix Image Studio adds support for PS3 format 32-bit RGBA8888 images, direct editing and conversion for S3TC compressed textures (DXT1 - 5) and support for PS3 DDS files. If you know what any of that means, please let us know.
live4speedDVR capabilities isn't hard to implement, I doubt it will come with the abiity to do that boxed because it doesn't look like it will come with a HDD, the console already have connections for the TV so you don't need a TV card like you would a PC if you wanted to turn that into a DVR, it's just software from there.
I expect they will do packages, thats proveded the HDD is available at launch.
It was mentioned in the Japanese News site I was reading yesterday. According to the article I was reading, whey they say Sony "confirmed", it was more like Sony "denied" about any delays. Seems the rumor started when a EA executive(might've been a CEO) told the reuters that he expected the PS3 release to be Q4 of 2006.Max_DCWell that sounds very good, although I still don't really believe a spring release. Early summer maybe, but who knows.... Good news nevertheless I think....
Probably, which will be good. X360 did a bundle, but their bundle system was useless, because nobody wanted the core package. In PS3's case, I'm not sure if I want the DVR feature. I think I just want the video game system, not this do-it-all entertainment system. Blu-ray's an exception though, I definitely want that.live4speedI expect they will do packages, thats proveded the HDD is available at launch.

LaBountiwhen did Richard Burns die????
kikieN00b question: what's "packages"???
Yup. I agree with the "delay" though. I get a feeling the delay announcement is coming.Max_DCWell you're right you always have to be careful with news.
So, you weren't just partying in Japan after all!Max_DC...
Another factor might be that the japanese language is - afaik - not so fond of a clear "No" or strict hard facts. From the impression I go they like to formulate it in a milder way which needs the ability to interpret the actual meaning of what was said, since for example a "No" could result in a uncomofortable situation and some people might kind of lose their face, which is a very bad thing in Japan.
tha_conDVR is probably purely rumor, at least in the sense that you guy's are thinking of DVR.
The PS3, from it's specifications, has absolutely no video in ports. Not one. The only way that it could possibly be capable of recieving data like such would be
1) Copying straight from a physical media source (CD, DVD, BD-ROM)
2) Content downloaded via the internet
3) Content recorded via the Eyetoy (which I assume will function through the gigabit ethernet port)
With that said, the Multi-Video out is just that, and output. Both HDMI's are output. That leaves nothing for input.
You see, in order for them to serve as "both" there would have to be a switch, because the console would not be able to tell when to send output, and when to recieve it. it's one directional, traffic only goes one way.
So, with that said, I think the "DVR" rumors are extremely false, and it will only be available via download. Meaning you'll be able to download trailers and such, "joy"...that's just my take from a technical standpoint, anyone feel free to provide more info if I've said something wrong.
