Is that the final OS though? Last I heard Sony said what was seen at TGS was not final. Still, I guess it could be. Nice and simple.
 
the OS is very similar to the PSP -- its actually a pretty cool setup... just dont be expecting it to fit where ur ps2 did [its a little fatter]

Firstly I love that OS, its by far the most beautiful looking one ive seen. Its very grown up and stylish..... so glad they chose to use it.

Secondly I kinda have a question.....

The PS3 is region free but I own PS2 games from Japan and Europe..... CAN I PLAY THEM ALL ON THE ONE PS3? In other worlds is the PS3 region free for PS2 games aswell?
 
I'm not sure. It'd be nice if it did as I have a mix of US and UK PS2 games. But isn't the backwards compatability of the PS3 from a PS2 chip itself or software? If it's a hardware chip maybe it'll be region locked like it would be on the PS2.
I'm not sure Sony have considered making all PlayStation games multi-region. It would be great if they did.
 
As far as I'm aware region coding is software based not hardware based, so regardless of if they use a PS2 chip or not they can use some software that will allow the PS2 games to be region free, I don't see why they wouldn't tbh, it'd take more effort to give each regions PS3's the different software than for them all to have the same.
 
Interesting read. I wonder if I could replace a PC for a PS3 for browsing the web and talking to friends. That could certainly make me buy a PS3 earlier than I intend to.

Well, apparently Sony caught wind of the reports of possible PS3 delays in Europe and has vehemently denied them. According to an unnamed Sony spokesperson quoted in GamesIndustry.biz: "Any reports of a further delay to the launch of the PS3 in Europe are categorically not true. We are still fully committed to a March 2007 launch date. Ken Kutaragi has not done any media briefings since the Tokyo Game Show, and the story is not true." So there you have it Europeans, you can rest easy now -- you've still got only five months to come up with those 500 euros ($627).

Interesting read. Good to see discs eject easily from the PS3. It's a right royal pain with the 360. You have to virtually thump the button to open the tray. Well, I do with mine. It's not very sensitive.
Out of the two the PS3 looks classier than the 360. The 360 is significantly better than the design of the first Xbox but the PS3 has genuine style, even for a bread bin!
They didn't like the controller which is a little worrying. Maybe for the first time I'll be buying a third party controller...

'Cause they didn't have anything else to complain.:sly: Honestly, It's all about personal taste, I enjoyed the DS2, so I am pretty sure SixAxis will be great for me.

Yeah but it's the second complain I read about the lightness of the controller. It's probably the same weight of those first psone controllers with no analog sticks.
 
they're only light because there's no vibration anymore.. the big rubber bouncer things are gone... but i'm liking it so far. :D

Soo IGN was the only people not paid to say the controller felt good? Lets tally up the negative opinions from professional editors and people who used it at TGS to decide if we all should agree with IGN and worry about the Sixaxis.... Even their game reviews are questionable...

The wieght is the only thing most poeple agree with but thats not a bad thing. The original PS1 pad was light.

the triggers are more natrual, they .. roll back [for lack of a better term] like a real trigger would; i like it :D

Meh. I call BS. Take a photo of you with the PS3/PS3 Controller with a sign saying "Hey GTPlanet! From suzq044", then I'll believe you.

You mean like the 360's triggers.

I heard a rather bad thing about them the other day, actually.. because they're concave instead of convex (i.e. "hooked" like a real trigger), that the player's fingers have a habit of slipping off the bottom, releasing them at inopportune times. The reviewers in question said they had to adjust their fingers to press against the top of the trigger, pushing it down rather than pulling it back. Which seems somewhat unnatural for a "trigger".

I also agree with what the previous folks said.. Considering how many people actually have access to a PS3 at this point (measured in the dozens), it's highly doubtful that you would be one of them. Surely you can back that up by revealing your place of employ and what it is you do there that gives you access to this machine. Your name would also be helpful, allowing us to confirm it.

Well, she didn't say that, did she?

And her profile doesn't appear to mention anything about Sony.

Besides, if that's the case, then she's in an excellent position to answer my previous question about the functionality of the triggers.
