Well, she didn't say that, did she?

And her profile doesn't appear to mention anything about Sony.

Besides, if that's the case, then she's in an excellent position to answer my previous question about the functionality of the triggers.
She said she works for Sony here.

Somehow I get the feeling that peoples fingers slipping off the triggers is the opinion of the fat guy's at IGN, and their opinoin only...fat fingers = ...lose weight.

Seriously, when I look at this, and try to figure out how their fingers "slipped"...I'm perplexed...

Because once depressed, the trigger is now angled at approximately 45 degrees from it's previous angle, angled very sharply toward the bottom of the controller. Without the trigger being "hooked", the only thing keeping it down is constant pressure.. higher pressure than what is actually required to push the button to that point in the first place. And since the trigger is the same high-polish plastic as they've always been, it's easy for your finger to move off of it.

This is why guns have triggers that are rounded the other way.. so your finger doesn't slip off.

I happen to agree with IGN on this... the triggers should be concave. Sony are the only ones that haven't made triggers this way. I think they're a little too stuck on keeping the controller exactly the way it's been for the last ten years.

I find it highly unlikely that the triggers require so much force that it will be difficult to keep your fingers on them...in fact almost impossible.

Even the GC and 360 tiggers would be easy to hold down with minimal force if they weren't concave...it's not like they are exerting amazing amounts of force back on your fingers that you have to smash them down, and the result being you slipping off the buttons...I just don't see it as possible unless you have no motor skills what so ever...

So it's the person's fault that the controller has a bad design element? Just like it was the person's hands fault if they got cramped using the GBA SP? That's rich. The GCN has a considerably different shoulder button design (the bottons come in and don't change angle, exactly like on the Dual Shock) to even be applicable in your comparison, and the 360 controller doesn't change angle on it's axis as much as the SA probably does.

IGN wouldn't have mentioned it if they didn't think it was a problem. And again, Sony is the only one that hasn't shaped their triggers like actual triggers. Even the one on the Wiimote is concave.

I'm not saying it will be a huge problem, but they should have made their triggers like everyone else.

Take a Dremel tool to the triggers an apply some checkering or grooves. That should keep anybody's fat, sweaty fingers from slipping off. That's why real firearm triggers have grooves and checkering.

I dont think it matters at all. Next time you play a racing game for 360 notice where your fingers are. Mine end up on the very edge of the triggers where the shape of the trigger has no effect on my grip. It'll probably be the same with ps3, but thats me. No problem for me. If you get all sweaty while playing it may be a problem or you just need a break or some AC :)

Well, when you look at a X360 trigger that's fully depressed, you will see that it's flat, with very little angle at all. With the PS3 "triggers" fully depressed, it'll be at a 45º angle, and that alone will probably make your fingers slip off pretty easily.

Okay, when it's released, I want everyone to post and tell me how many times their fingers slip off...I'm almost positive that most of you will not experience it, or will simply say you did in order to save face...but I doubt it's an issue, at least to the degree they are trying to say it is.

Well, we'll see when they get some PS3s on display.

wasen´t supposed to be a october 9th event for the PS3 in japan? i still haven´t heard anything on that...

That, or you could somehow add your own little concave curve to the edge.

Does your finger slip on the PS2 controller?

Do you really think your finger will slip if it doesn't on the PS2 controller? 💡

If there is any slippage due to sweating, I'm sure a very tiny piece of grip tape would take care of it.

I'd like to say, again, that I doubt the controllers shoulder triggers require so much force that your fingers would slip off frequently...if at all.

They don't require much force, but when you're in an intense fight, you don't care about being finesse with the triggers.

True, but it'd look seriously tacky, especially in comparison to the PS3.

Meh. I call BS. Take a photo of you with the PS3/PS3 Controller with a sign saying "Hey GTPlanet! From suzq044", then I'll believe you.

i would get fired if i did that. They've pretty much locked down the building as of last week due to the incoming test PS3's.. believe me or dont.. thats up to u...:dunce: i'm not in the habit of lying to impress online ppl .. thats just retarded. lol

It's not that far fetched with retail stores starting to pick up demo units and magazine companies all getting given time with one about now.

PS3 commercial that will air during the World Series.
Gizmodo's response to the ad:
The first TV ad for the PS3—"The Wait"—is now floating around that damnable Internet and we've really got to hand it to Sony: not only does the ad not tell us a single thing about their upcoming system, but they've somehow managed to create an ad that evokes the same type of feeling you get when you watch the "Daisy" ad and a "say no to drugs" commercial. Bravo. At least there's no melting clocks this time around.
:)

I preffered this ad for Wii:

The Wii advert is the best ad ever, that PS3 advert is just pretentious. It's like 'it's from another planet because it's so good!', or something.

I'm gonna have to switch my position and agree with Jeremy on this. After some serious playtime with the DS2, I believe that IGN is overplaying this (assuming the SA and DS2 are to be made of the same type of plastic). It may be a very real problem, but I doubt it will come anywhere near as big as it was made out to be, barring possibly unless you have sweaty hands.
