Yes it is weird, hard issues yesterday, then they were resolved, tried again *just now* and I can't get back on...

Can somebody get these children already?

Sony said they are going to give us 2 free gamees from a list to choose from and extended PS plus.

I sometimes wonder who is happy with these free games.. The games I want to play are 9 out of 10 pre ordered, not digital (I want it in my hands) and the games they offer, are really not games I'd like to play on PS4.

Maybe if they give Worms for free....

Oh and extended PS Plus is always 👍

The ball is in Sony's court now. The attacks stopped yesterday.

Where did you hear this? Have they announced what will be on the list?
That was actually from a CAL that happened after the data breach in 2011. It's only for people in the United States and it's essentially an extension of the 'Welcome Back' programme.

Additionally, the 2011 outage was over three weeks long compared to several days now. At most we'd get a PS Plus voucher for a few days.

No source on their website, seems suspicious.

No other websites talking about it, sounds even more suspicious.
It looks really fishy. There are a bunch of people talking about it. One mod from rock stars forum said the same thing about the free games but he may have just read it from this site.

I wouldn't doubt if something is offered but I doubt this is it. I would rather they learn how to stop this. It keeps happening more and more often.

I honestly expected Sony to up their game since the 2011 event.

A DDoS attack is not a hack, so quite a different beast. Any amount of firewall preparation isn't going to stop one.

And really folks, we're looking for what free stuff we can get, already...?

I love how people blame the victim rather than the cause of the problem... Yes, clearly Sony owes us free stuff when they have been hacked or DDoS'd or whatever...

Could you imagine that if after 9/11, people instantly pointed the finger at the US for not having better security, rather than at the people responsible? Also, to the people trivializing this by saying all it does it affect a few games, I'd like to point out that this affects millions of people world wide, as well as having financial consequences for Sony. It's hardly a petty crime just because games are involved. Hell, I'd be fairly upset if I had just gotten a new PS4 on christmas eve, only to not be able to fully use it the day after because the servers were down. Even more so if I was a kid.

Just got back on. But takes a while to find a TDM because apparently there are still very few people logged in...

They did. This is why the Patriot Act now exists and it's impossible to fly in and out of the US without being fondled by perverts, stripped naked and inside an entirely transparent aeroplane.

Finally got on, got my updates for Driveclub and had a time trial session around Norway in the show. Beautiful stuff.

So sony u.s. killed their live chat? Waited 3.5 hours yesterday in the live chat (since in Switzerland, they're too rich to work on 26th of dec. and on saturdays), and the moment i got an operator i couldn't even send my first line and i was disconnected..oh well. Guess i'ma have to wait till monday so i can get my psn pw and e-mail re-set (since i don't have access to this 6 year old e-mail adress anymore)

But aside from conspiracy theorists, people weren't pointing the finger at the victim. Regardless of whether or not it could have been prevented, people still held the ones who actually committed the act, responsible. Where as many hold Sony responsible for PSN being down when they are hacked or otherwise sabotaged by an outside party.

He didn't say that the twitter can't be traced, but simply, over an over and over again, said that they will need to be found in order to be thrown in prison. Do you think they aren't smart enough to attempt to try to cover their tracks a best as possible?

Another thing is why would you think that no one is actually trying to find these people? I'm sure these two bohemeth of companies are looking into it, rather then standing by and twiddling their thumbs. Finding the attackers is obviously provin harder than you seem to think.
Microsoft and Sony haven't confirmed that they have been attacked or anything so LS may be taking credit for something they haven't even done.

We have no evidence other than some uneducated kid on twitter asking for re-tweets and followers. Let's wait for Microsoft or Sony to explain exactly what happened.

Here is a fun fact. Lizard idiots did a DDoS on the servers, and once they announced they stopped, everyone ran to their PS and tried to logged on and created another DDoS from all of us trying to get on at the same time. While yes PSN has been down for 2 days now. (off and on) but only one hack day.

They have probably taken the network down to install/upgrade their firewalls to prevent future attacks.

Changing my MTU to 1472 fixed mine. 1 of my friends didn't have to do that but two of us did. It seems to work for some reason. We are online playing together now.

Some sites saying that the hackers also released a list of 13,000 PSN, XBL and Amazon usernames and passwords as well as credit card details.
