I hate those Cosworth type spoilers with a passion. Impreza wagons, Liberos, Lantis'. And they look crap on everything except RS Escorts. Sorta like Supra spoilers on not Supras.

I dont' think anyone was saying those weren't functional. On the other hand, the one on the Impreza Wagon....
 
^ I just didn't want anyone to take my post out of context and think I was showing a pic of the SB in the 'questionable modifications' thread in order to imply it was a, you know, 'questionable modification'. ;) Only to show huge production wings looong predate both the Supra and the F40 or 959.

Just to clarify, I have nothing against supra spoilers, or big spoilers in general. Just the Supra spoiler, much like the RS cosworth ones, look like utter rubbish when put on other cars. Most other cars anyway.
 
Actually...I think they DO get in the way of the decklid. They were up there to get the unspoiled air above the roof of the car...but I digress. not really the place for this, as it's rather OT. Oh, and the Daytona predated that car by a year, and had a different wing to boot.

@ the Chaser: You know, if they hadn't spent so much time painting it, I'd think that a kickass car...It looks, literally like unchewed, fresh out of the package bubblegum. and I hate bubblegum.

(It took me some time to come to that conclusion, but I knew that texture looked familiar...)

EDIT: In the Chaser Picture, Caught a Supra with "Lambo" doors right beside it.
 
The Supra spoiler isn't bad. The Dragon Z wing is bad. Nearly everyone here has probably seen one before:

The depressing/hilarious thing is that Dragon Z stuff is ubiquitous because it can be found for practically every model:

No - the "Supra spoiler" refers to a specific style of high, curved wing. F40's was mainly square (and functional) and the 959's was very low and gently bowed.

It looks like they are replicas based on 911s.

That aside, the Wrightspeed X1 is an electric Ariel Atom. It runs 11s quarters.
 
Famine's right, that's not a genuine 959 on the website, the detailing is wrong.

The line 'We can build this 959 model on any '74-'98 Porsche 911.' would confirm it too :sly:

It's a homologation car.

They were made that high because that's what the aerodynamacists in the racing program figured it needed.

It's probably that high in order to avoid all the turbulence created by the main body. A wing functions best in 'clean' air.

Exactly what I meant - the tall, rounded and not-overly-functional looking spoilers on Supras.

Okay, Now, we've officially crossed into the twilight zone.

and I still don't think that Civic makes 98MPG. That, at the least, is a 60MPG increase. More like 70, realistically, since it's a used car.

Well, it is a light car with a small engine. It made 40MPG before, apparently - and with various mods such as a warm air-intake, a custom tall gearing and a manual hand-operated precision-throttle... That'd be 60MPG. And with such extensive aero-mods, I believe it. I mean, if a far less radical Audi A2 version did 100km/l, I believe it...

Well, it's only a Geo Metro to begin with ;)

Plus, they should be. They're doing 75MPG, even if it looks ridiculous. All that while actually looking rather cool, and with a high quality of manufacturing. Unlike that Civic, which appears to be built of paper-mache and nylon.
