After many, many hours of testing and fiddling with set-ups, I decided to try the Formula GT series in the Nissan R390 Race car.
The settings listed will be used thru-out the series, unless otherwise noted. These settings work very well for MY driving style. They may not suit yours.

Nissan R390 GT1 LM Race Car:

Springs: 17 / 15
Ride Height: 55 / 55
Bound: 7 / 3
Rebound: 7 / 3
Camber: 3 / 0
Toe: -1 / 0
Stabilzers: 7 / 4
Brake: 24 / 20
Downforce: 1.0 / 1.10
ASM: Off
TSC: 5
LS Initial: 5
LS Accel: 5
LS Decel: 5
1st: 2.280
2nd: 1.630
3rd: 1.253
4th: 1.024
5th: .885
6th: .742
Final: 3.250

MIDFIELD:
Used my race settings and put on T4’s all the way around.
Started from the back, and by the end of lap 2, I was out in front enough to start driving my chosen line. It’s hard to drive your line the first couple of laps because the AI is always ramming you from behind.
Pitted on lap 10 and lap 20. Tires were pretty worn out when I pitted.
Best lap was 56.402”

R390 (me) 29’33.903”
F094/S +1 lap 30’28.64”
F094/H +2 laps 29’ 37.481
F686/M +2 laps 29’51.112”
F090/S +2 laps 30’27.618”
F688/S +2 laps 30’30.133”

SEATTLE:
Race settings, T4’s and changed final drive to 3.400.
Qualified on the pole with a 1’17.018”. Figured starting in front and getting “bumped” from behind was a good way to gain a little extra off the line. Stayed to the inside of turn 1, all the AI cars except the F094/S piled into each other on turn 2. Avoided that mess and took the lead just after the railroad tracks.
Pitted on lap 10, 20, and 30. Was fighting lap traffic around lap 22, so my lap times were in the 1’18-1’19 range. Once I got past them I was able to get a few 1’16 laps before the tires went. F094/S pitted on lap 39. He was in sight, ready to go a lap down when he pitted.
Best lap was 1’15.679”

R390: 52’55.647”
F094/S: +1 lap 53’14.291”
F090/S: +1 lap 53’18.832”
F094/H: +1 lap 53’47.258”
F686/M +1 lap 54’11.290”
F688/S +2 laps 52’58.791”

GRAND VALLEY
Horsepower is down to 1166 with 167 miles on the odometer. Oil light is sure to come on in the first few laps or so.
Used race settings, T3’s, and final drive to 3.250
Started at the back of the pack.
Picked up the lead about ½ way thru lap 4. All the AI cars pitted on lap 6. I go for a 2 pit strategy to their 4 pit plan. Laps 8 and 9 were terrible! Slightly orange T3’s slide more than completely trashed T4’s. Pitted on lap 9(whew). Came out of the pits on the start of lap 10. F094/S had retaken the lead. No problem… he’s pitting in 2 laps.
We all pitted on lap 18. I had about a 17sec lead on the F094/S. I was done pitting, he still had to pit on lap 24. Victory was in the bag.
Best lap was 1’31.981”

R390 42’51.338”
F094/S 43’22.808”
F094/H 43’47.730”
F090/S 44’03.211”
F686/M 44’14.700”
F686/S +1 lap 42’54.120”

Heading to the Super Speedway the point standings are…
R390 30pts
F094/S 18pts
F094/H 11pts
F090/S 9pts
F686/M 7pts
F688/S 3pts

Hopefully I can continue shortly, but I have a lot going on this week.

SUPERSPEEDWAY

Race settings with these changes.
Ride height: 55/75
Camber: 3/1
Toe: -2/2
Downforce: 1.00/.90
Changed final gear to 3.350
Put on T2’s

With the T2’s, my plan was to pit once, on lap 25. Had to be patient with this setup…it takes about 4 or 5 laps before it really comes in.
Car tracks well thru turns 1 & 2. Cut too low into 2 and you bleed off speed. Tried to stay about ½ car width off wall going into 1 and cut down at the right time into 2, drifting out to the wall down the back-stretch. Coming into turn 3, I used the last yellow sign as the braking/ turn-in point. Just enough brake to slow down to 170ish. Turn, coast in low and right back to full power. Car will drift out nicely right out to the wall.
Looking back, I should have gone with a slightly steeper gear. Bounced the limiter a few times in a draft. But, with the AI pitting every 6 laps or so, I tried to set the car up to run on its own. On its own, the car was good for consistent laps in the low 27”/high 26” range. Even when the tires were about shot, I was still pulling mid 27” laps.
All in all, this race was a disappointing blowout.
Best lap: 26.653” (in draft)

R390: 23’24.186”
F094/S: +5 laps 23’38.234”
F686/M +5laps 23’40.495”
F094/H + 6 laps 23’25.062”
F090/S +6 laps 23’40.685”
F688/S +6 laps 23’42.504”

ROME
Race settings. Changed final gear to 3.400
Running T3’s, planning a 2 pit strategy.
Started at the back of the pack. By the 3rd lap, me and the F094/S were about 5 seconds ahead of the rest. The 3.400 gear was a good choice, offering great exit acceleration and a top speed of a little over 200. I was able to keep pace with the F094/S on all parts of the track. I really enjoyed this race.
Best lap: 1’07.331”

R390: 32’41.753”
F094/S: 33’09.644”
F686/M: 33’52.303”
F090/S: +1 lap 32’52.101”
F094/H +1 lap 32’52.533”
F688/M +1 lap 33’09.309”

WOW!!! Great report & accomplishment kodiak: 👍
:D Have beaten the F-1s @ Tokyo w/same ride, but can see from your other Lap Times I need more practice before I take on the rest of the Series.
My ultimate goal is to beat them w/ZZII to complete my "Road Cars Only Quest." ( Have heard it's been done but also know that he's an EXCEPTIONAL Driver.) Best of Luck in the rest of your Series...UB57
:D

TEST COURSE:
T2’s and a wheelie. ‘Nuff said.

Best lap: 1’21.786”

R390: 34’45/364”
F094/H: + 5 laps 35’30.900”
F094/S: + 5 laps 35’31.045”
F686/M: + 5 laps 35’37.462”
F688/S: + 5 laps 35’53.974”
F090/S + 5 laps: 35’54.012”

LAGUNA SECA
Race settings, T4’s and changed final gear to 3.400
Qualified on the pole with a 1’05.786” (running T5’s)

This had to be the closest nail-biter yet. Started on the pole, but was in last place coming out of turn 1. At the start of lap 4, I was in 2nd place, about 4 seconds behind the leader. At the start of lap 8, I was 3.344 seconds behind. Got a good run thru the corkscrew on lap 9, which allowed me to pass the F094/S for the lead. I led the F094/S and F094/H into the pits on lap 9.
I think what gave me the edge is the R390 is slightly more forgiving on worn tires than an F1 car. It seemed I could only gain tenths when he was on good rubber, but would gain seconds on the 2 laps prior to pitting.
I pitted on laps 9,18, and 27.
Overall, this race kept me on the edge of my seat. Very satisfying.

Best lap: 1’05.429”

R390: 37’53.887”
F094/H: 38’09.285”
F094/S: 38’09.321”
F090/S: 38’33.385”
F686/M: 38’33.587”
F688/S: 38’56.740”

UB57: Thanks. Will have to try the ZZII after this.

APRICOT HILL

Race settings, T4’s and change final gear to 3.500

Spoke too soon about a nail biter. God, what a race!! Qualified on the pole with a 1’03.892”. As soon as we take off, the F094/S drives into the side of me. Guess he was trying to get to the outside line. Anyway, I also get clobbered from behind which puts me ahead of the pack, but leaves the F094/S to catch hell from the cars behind. I honestly think that’s what gave me the victory. I was able to drive my line without interference right from the start. I pitted on laps 7, 14, and 21. F094/S pitted on laps 8, 16, and 24.
It was pretty much a dog fight the whole race, with me only slightly opening the lead.
FWIW, horsepower has been at 1125 since Rome.

Best lap: 1’03.413”

R390: 30’13.470”
F094/S: 30’19.376”
F094/H: 30’55.494”
F686/M: 30’56.188”
F688/S: 31’06.699”
F090/S: 31’07.118”

Great Accomplishment. I've only done one race against f1's w/o an f1 car. That was midfield with my 787b. You are quite the racer, keep it up!

TOKYO R246

Race settings, T4’s and set final gear to 3.350.
Qualified on the pole with 1’17.118”
Got the drop on the F094/S in the first turn as the F094/H plowed into him and sent them both into the wall. Pretty uneventful race. Pitted on laps 7, 14, and 21. Got another break while in the pits. Just as the 094/S was coming down off the jacks, the 094/H t-boned him. Looks like he was trying to occupy the space just ahead and wound up pinning the 094/S in the pits until he was done.

Best lap: 1’16.491”

R390: 33’41.093”
F094/S: 34’16.836”
F094/H: 34’41.901”
F090/S: 34’53.913”
F688/S: + 1lap 33’47.034”
F686/M: +1 lap 34’00.898”

COTE d’ AZUR

Changed settings a bit:

Springs: 15.0 / 17.0
Ride Height: 55 /55
Bound: 7 / 5
Rebound: 7 / 5
Camber: 5 / 2
Toe: -1.0 / 1.0
Stab. 5 / 7
Brakes: 24 / 20
Downforce: 1.00 / 1.25
ASM: off
TCS: 5
L.S. init.: 5
L.S. accel: 5
L.S. decel: 5
1st : 2.280
2nd: 1.630
3rd: 1.253
4th: 1.064
5th: .918
6th : .773
Final Gear: 3.600

Found these settings offered the best handling for my driving style. Once I got the chassis dialed in, I started tuning the gears. Found the ratios to offer the best acceleration with this chassis setup.
Let me say that this was by far the most challenging race. I had aborted this race 3 different times in order to tune the chassis and gears. Originally planned on running T3’s and try to win by pitting less. Found T4’s were the way to go, pitting every 10 laps.
Qualified 1st with 1’21.245”. Green light and we're off. Bumped from behind off the line, I was able to maintain 2nd place for the first lap. By the 3rd lap, I was in 3rd behind the 094/S and 094/H, but closing in. On the right hand turn just before the tunnel, the 2 lead cars got together allowing me to slip on the inside. Was in 1st coming up to the “box” at the waterfront. Through the box clean and started pulling away by a few tenths a lap. The pair of 094’s battled it out for about 15 laps before the 094/S started pulling away.
At about lap 64, I had an 18 second lead on the 094/S. I cut the hairpin too close and wound up nosed into the wall. Started to back up and cut the wheel when that stupid fu***** glitch spun me around the wrong way!! Then it spun me 270 deg and back into the wall. Finally got it straightened out, but my lead was cut down to about 3 seconds. Anyone know why it does that sometimes? Anyway, pitted on lap 70 and was able to open up the lead to a tick over 4 seconds by the end.

Best lap: 1’20.263”

R390: 1:48’48.429”
F094/S: 1:48’52.451”
F094/H: +1 lap 1:49’05.504”
F090/S: +2 laps 1:49’20.088”
F688/S: +3 laps 1:48’51.628”
F686/M: + 3laps 1:49’00.380”

Voltage drops through the USB plug, apparently. Mine's a lot better since the wheel got its own powerpoint, but it does still do it occasionally.

Kodiak - you are kicking arses and taking names - great write up, too. Keep it coming!

Well, I won the series with 100 points. F094/S was 2nd with 56.
Prize car was the F686/M.

I think I'll try this again sometime with the GT-One, 787B, and ZZII.

Vat_man: Umm, I'm using dual shock controller. The "glitch" I was refering to was GT3 "auto correct" feature. If you point the wrong way while you're not moving/moving VERY slowly, it spins you around automatically. Almost as if the car pivots around it's center point.

👍 GREAT Races 👍 / GREAT Write-ups 👍
:D PLUS, you "SMOKED" my time @ Rte 246 by 26 SECONDS!!!

Keep 'em comin'...UB57 :D

I've experienced this as well. It's VERY frustrating. I didn't actually start seeing it until about a year after I bought the game. Apparently my driving is getting worse ...

I hate to re-Post in a cold thread but feel I must correct an ERROR on my part:
:embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed: I took a statement as FACT concerning the ZZII having been piloted to a win over the F-1s at face value, mainly because I know what an exceptional driver the person named as having accomplished it is. In a conversation with him last nite he assured me he Has Not beaten the F-1s w/ZZII (but he has posted a remarkable win in a ride I didn't believe capableof the Feat) nor has he heard of anyone else accomplishing same. MY MOST HUMBLE APOLOGY. I'll get my facts straight before opening my mouth in the future. :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

BTW: There goes my chances of every beating the Game 100% w/"Road Cars":( :( :( ...UB57

Thank you for clearing that up:D

I must have spent 2 weeks tuning and testing, plotting and planning with the ZZII trying to come up with a set-up/strategy combo to beat the F1 series.:banghead: Eventually gave up, coming to the conclusion that I suck at driving.:(

Read somewhere that someone beat it in a Zonda C12 using pit strategy. Maybe a new challenge for your quest?

Happy motoring:cool:

Edit: Thinking back, not sure if you could enter with the C12. It's not a "race" car. ( unless they meant the Zonda Race car). Doesn't do you any good though.

Sorry Kodiak:
Kinda disappointed myself!!! NO, you can't enter the Zonda C12. Through a "Glitch" in the game the ZZII is actually considered a "Race Car" (which is why you CAN'T use it in th PD Cup) which in turn makes it the only "Car without a Racing Number" that can run in the F-1 Series. Very Sorry for the "Mis-information"...UB57
:( :embarrassed: :( :embarrassed: :( :embarrassed:

I started messing around with this over the weekend. I attempted two races, Midfield, only because it's first, and Rome, chosen at random. I didn't finish Midfield because I could see that I would easily win. I finished Rome and won by four seconds. I'm going to keep playing around with it before I attempt the series.

Sorry 'bout not posting starting horsepower.

1205 hp to start... 0.0 miles on car entering the series.
Power came down and stabilzed at 1125 ( mentioned in the write-up for Apricot hill)

Good luck and have fun:cool:

TS020
Formula GT is not THAT hard because the formula's pit every 6-7 laps.To keep concentrate that 30 laps now that's hard!!!!
Not THAT Hard????
:D Then perhaps you'll treat us all to a replay showing how "Not THAT Hard" it is to accomplish with a NON F-1 Ride while adhering to "Normal" OLR Rules??? (NO Wall Touches, MINIMAL "AI" Contact, etc etc) ...UB57 :D

you should of left the R390's setting alone from when you won it put 4 turbos on it and oil it to 1205bhp it'll go down to 1181bhp after 700km has anyone ever tried this if you have a race car e.g R390 or toyota GTone set the car as low as possible and the springs to 4.0 f&r
go to gear length and adjust it to 48 the go to downforce and set f0.45 and r1.15(highest possible) go to test course and you'll be wetting you self over 2000kmh out of the GTone and about 1300kmh in the R390 you should try it you'll lap times could be under 1 minite like mine my fastest 56.784 seconds reply if you can beat that and give this a try if you don't know about it. also tcs off

Hello skyline gtr: & Welcome to the GTP Forums 👍 I'f you'll scan back to the beginning of this thread I believe you'll find that it concerns "In Game" cars. You'll probably find more response to your post if you move it to the "Hybrids & Gamesharks Forum" :) ...UB57 :D
