Join a kart race online, soon as the race starts turn around and race the correct way round the track but in reverse gear.
Takes a small amount of practice and you probably won't win, but you'll beat somebody.

That's just annoying to everyone looking for a serious race, if you'd like to drive your karts (or any other vehicle) in reverse, then why not just set up a room for likeminded people and simply call it a reverse race or something making the intent clear.
Otherwise you're just going to be a nuisance like every drifter in a real race or those who intentionally drive the wrong way to cause crashes.
Even when you're going into the same direction and cause no trouble doing so it will be distracting to your opponents and ruin their experience.
Not saying it can't be fun or that it doesn't take any skill (which I believe it does) but do it in the appropriate surrounding, aka a dedicated room.

People have been Racing in Reverse since the Game Launch nothing really new. I know some who are pretty good, but as the post above says, take that to a custom room.

Reverse driving = showing off

Psst, if you come against him online, a small tap will send a kart going backwards off of the track.

Reverse driving = showing off

Because showing off in competitive online video games is completely unexpected and socially unacceptable.

Not that I support driving in reverse, but I feel the need to play devil's advocate here. If the guy has fun by driving in reverse, so what? I doubt he'll ruin the race for everyone else involved. He'll end up just spinning out in the first corner, and he'll be in last place from there on. Big deal.

As much as I appreciate a mature and well-behaved online community in GT5, sometimes you guys just have a stick up your ass.

I rarely finish last

Stick up who's ass! :sly:

LOL there's nothing wrong with showing off, as long as it's not in a room where good racing is happening, where it would just be annoying.

*Removes stick* Thanks, feels much better although I still stand by what I wrote earlier.
Everything's relative, especially within the context of a videogame, even if someone deliberately crashes into all the cars in an online lobby, it will only ruin people's enjoyment and fun, not harm anything else.
Why do we play videogames or discuss them on a forum? Because they provide fun and enjoyment.
To some this fun and enjoyment is gained by the illusion (as that's what it boils down to ultimately) of racing a "real" or "serious" race, it's supposed to be a simulator isn't it?
There will always be jokers but when they actually write about their shenanigans in their own thread I'm also more than willing to give my opinion or serve them with some schtick (not to be confused with the stick I just removed, again thanks for the suggestion).

Haters gon hate

It's actually "haters gonna hate" (tiresome and meaningless cliche corrected, stick reinserted).

I don't know about backwards. We've done karts on Nurburgring at night and turned the driving line on as our guide since karts don't have lights. You see a cool little shadow of the kart over the line. It's quite challenging though. High curbs send the karts flying...

WOW! looks like you've pushed the stick up further than ever before as GON is actually an abbreviaton of GONNA.

Looks like you should stick to Dutch and leave English lessons to the English.

So it's an abbreviation of another abbreviation? That's hardly got anything to do with proper English but just popular linguistic laziness regardless of what language it originates from.
I would like to stick to Dutch, trouble is it's not allowed here and even if it were I doubt many would understand me.

Wow, I was listening to Dennis Leary's song asshole when I opened this thread.
I never tried it, but I don't think people in the kart rooms will appreciate driving in reverse. I bet you'd get booted quick.

I remember the first time I saw this. I was in a serious and me and this guy were battling for first when all of a sudden I see a kart overtake me backwards (probably drafted me), and the first thing that comes to my mind is "that son of a @#^%##" and to add salt to the injury, the guy's avatar was looking at my avatar as he passed me.

Cool story, bruh. You got anymore you want to share with this community.

Booted all the time, today some Aussies got mad when I took the lead, rammed me off the track, then kicked me.

2 Short sentences and you needed to edit???? What's up? have trouble spelling the word "to"?

LOL, You sure are easy to get riled up. Don't take out your abandonment issues with us community members instead just talk to a shrink.

But to add to this "awesomeness of a thread"👎. I've tried racing backwards on the kart in the practice run and it took me about 4-5 times till I finally got the hang of it and managed to stay with the pack. So I guess i'm ready to put this skill to use if ever I should see a server dedicated to "Racing karts backwards":dopey:

This thread is stupid. You can drive backwards in a Kart, right, do you want us to clap?

dont get it.

Are we done with the name calling and mud slinging now?
