So, I was just curious to see what your favorite tracks from the entire GT series (including Eiger) were and why. Or you just name your favorite parts of the track...

(Editor's note: I pm'ed the mods to see if this is ok to post here.)

1. Nurburgring - Legendary, challenging & great fun on any car from an Elan to a Pescarolo.

2. La Sarthe - Same as above.

3. Suzuka - Love the way this track flows...turns 1-6 requires a great rythmn.

4. Monaco - From Massenet through the casino all the way through the tunnel.

5. Infineon - Great elevation changes.

6. Seattle Circuit - Crazy elevation changes & lots of passing opportunities.

7. Trial Mountain Circuit - Same as above.

8. Pikes Peak Hill Climb - The grand-daddy of rallye tracks...Would be ranked higher if I was better in rallying & didn't crash as much.

9. Apricot Hill Raceway - Another great flowing track.

T10. Opera Paris/Rome - One is a high-speed circuit & the other a highly technical one. I like them both a lot.

11. Red Rock Valley Speedway - A fairly simple high speed track, great track layout.

12. Grand Valley Speedway - tunnels, tunnels, tunnels...Would be ranked higher if GT4 had better sound!!

13. Special Stage Route 11 - Night racing in a technical road course. Love those chicanes with the guardrails nearby!!

14. Hong Kong - Love the harbor section. High speeds with 2 kinks in a beautiful setting.

T15. El Capitan/Grindelwald/Eiger Norwald* - The mountain tracks. All 3 are similar in concept but all 3 are fun in a distinct way.

16. Tokyo R246 - Love the high speed leafy area coming out of turn 5.

*Eiger could be ranked higher if I could race someone else in it, but that would have to wait.

Type "Favorite tracks" in the search box to see other people's opinions on various tracks if you get no replies here. Welcone to GT planet. the search engine is your friend :)

i think once GT5 comes out and people can actually race against tough competition, opinions on what favorite tracks are will change a bit. Same with favorite cars.

Come on man, don't you think I'd done that already? I'll tell you what came up. "Worst Track," "Favorite Track in GT2," "Favorite Drifting Track (GT4)," "Favorite Original GT4 Track," "Real life vs. GT4" amongst all sorts of other ones in which the discussion in which you refer to are probably buried. None of them, however, mentions anything about your favorite GT 1-4 + HD tracks.

Just thought it'd be a change of pace from all the speculation, rumors, and numerous b!tching & moaning. Plus a good excuse to play the old games (which I did recently)...

-> I kinda like this thread, it reminise all the tracks that was featured from all the GT games from the past to present. Let me participate:

1. Trial Mountain - For some odd reason I find this track very relaxing to do laps with.

2. Special Stage R11 (GT1 ver.) - A very challenging and amusing track. Quite tricky too.

3. High Speed Ring (GT1-2 ver.) - The track that introduced me to GT. Much more challenging compared to the GT4 version. Love the reply angles on that track. (:

4. Nurburgring North Course - Well duh, its the global premier test track for road cars. Too bad PD kinda forgot the F1 circuit, that would be fun along with the "Green Hell".

5. Deep Forset - I used to hate this track with a passion. But until I played GT4, that mindset changed. It it now my primary drifting test track. (:

6. Test Track (GT1-2 ver.) - I always can't forget the fact, that I struggled to complete a lap with a stock Mk.1 Elise 'round the track.

...to be continued. :)

Hope this thread wont get closed, I actually like it. :)

But now my ranking:

1. Nürburgring: I like long tracks a lot more than short boring circuits, and its also not as perfectly flat as most other racing circuits like tsukuba or LaSarthe. It has just everything: a long straight, up-and down hills, bumpy places, fast medium and slow speed corners, several small jumps....
2. La Sarthe aka Le Mans without chicanes: Also a very long track, speeds of over 400 km/h are possible with group-c cars like it happened several times in real life. :dopey:
3. Trial Mountain: Best fantasy track, its a tad too short but its fun to drive around it with fast cars. The straight is also very spectacular and the circuit is very ''green''. I like it
4. Grand Vally Speedway GT2 version. Beautiful views, a long straight, the part with the blue bridge and the tunnel is just great.
5. Red Rock Valley: Great track layout, I loved the part with the extremely long right hander before the tunnel,. lighting was nice and everything fit well.

I'll give ya my top 5 as well :)

1. Nurburgring: Nuff said
2. Special Stage Route 5 / 11: For whatever reason, I've always found both of these tracks a fav. on my list, and I was very disappointed that PD did not bring back SSR11 for GT4. BRING IT BACK PD!!!
3. Le Mans: Whatever you want a call it, a great flowing track with a lot of speed, and of course the history behind it.
4. Tokyo R246: An amazing track for speed. Fast corners, a few hairpins, difficult to win in a slower car. But if you do against faster cars, it's a great feeling.
5. High Speed Ring/Apricot Hill: This one is kind of a tie. I like High speed ring because of the high speed (DUH!), but I like Apricot hill because it kind of reminds me of a track that you would see as something more local and not as big in the ranks (if you get what I'm trying to say). I guess, more like a place where you could take your every day car to a local race track and drive around.

I want to get in on this. I'll give you my top 6, because the dreaded Nurburgring at #1 is a given.

2. Suzuka

3. Trial Mountain

4. Red Rock Valley

5. Grindelwald

6. Pike's Peak

And all the rest from all the Gran Turismos. Picking a handful of faves isn't easy. My least favorite is Super Speedway.

I pretty much like all tracks, except Tsukuba, wich is a drag, but overall, almost all tracks have something that makes them fun. A top five would be Nürburgring, La Sarthe (with chicanes), Suzuka, Deep Forest and Côte d´Azur (Monaco).

My top five would probably be La Sarthe(either of them), Trial Mountain, Red Rock Speedway, Deep forest, and Midfield

...continued from last post.

7. Autumn Ring - I used to hate this track too, but it became my own little "Tsukuba Circuit". It is my time attack track, so I don't have to do an agonizing 8 min. a lap.

8. Complex String - Not much people may know it, but this is the ultamate test track for stock cars. Too bad, theres not too much fan fare.

9. Grindelwald - Everytime I go around on this track, it gives me migraines. But it trained me to become as a better driver/racer. And since Eiger is just next door, maybe hopefully they could come up with a conjoined track for both of them or just bring that track back.

10. Grand Valley Speedway - I think that this is the pinnacle of all PD's fantasy tracks. I think if I'm wealthy enough, I will build a race track just like this one (with KAZ and PD's permission of course).

(:

A lot of great tracks have been mentioned.
I'd like to humbly remind y'all of two good technical tracks.
Rome, and Rome Night.

I also like the "original" Midfield and Grand Valley Speedway tracks better than the "new and improved" versions in GT4.

^ I prefer Rome Night compared to the usual Rome Circuit.

Gil-> Hmm I wonder, what are the difference of Midfield and Grand Valley on two versions? Frankly I don't the difference too much.

1. Nurburgring. Hard in places but thrills you.

2. Special Stage Route 11-I always loved the night tracks in Gran Turismo and this track was long and tricky but was fun.

3. Trail Mountain-Was the first track i raced on at my friends house(i didnt have a playstation at the time). I then fell in love with the game and thought this was a legendary GT original track.

4. Apricot Hill-Was my favorite track in GT3 because i it was fun to drive in.

5. Hong Kong-Beautiful scenery and love the night life with all the neon signs on.

what are the difference of Midfield and Grand Valley on two versions?

I know that they have added concrete to the curbs on the s-turns coming out of the tunnel on Grand Valley. The s-turns also doesn't seem so tight in the GT4 version.

How did I forget about Rome Night (along with Motegi)? I might need to edit my list!

Complex String - Not much people may know it, but this is the ultamate test track for stock cars. Too bad, theres not too much fan fare.

I thought about putting it up there, but the fact that I can't race there kept it from my list.

^ Oh yeah! Thats why I was wondering how come that secection wasn't as nortorious as the one in GT1/2, I can easily fly that corner. I usually spin-out/plow on those esses back then.

^ Yeah, that made it a boring track. It's only accesable when you're doing a time attack and nothing else. I hope PD could bring it back and rework to make it race accesable. :indiff:

-> In case if no one recalls this race track:

Actually, the change that I refer to at Midfield, is the "squaring off" of the first two turns. It mess up the line in both directions.

You may not notice, but Midfield used to be my favorite track for testing cars. I notice the difference.
IF you can run well at Apricot Hill or Midfield, the car is pretty much set up, all you have to change is gear ratios.

At Grand Valley, there is an extra set of turns leading into the first tunnel that are not there in GT2 or GT3.
Put GT3 in and make a quick couple of laps at GVS, then put in GT4 and run a few laps. You'll notice the differnce.

yeaaaaaaah i forgot to mention that one, i'd have to put Complex String as probably my number 2 favorite track

Nurburgring Nordschleife
Trial Mountain Circuit
Monaco
Special Stage Route 5
Tokyo R246

:)

Note: I think tracks are more important then cars! We need more tracks in GT5/P more then we need 700 cars!

SSR11
Nürburgring (original, I know :sly: )
and Seattle.

I was kinda mad when I found out the SSR11 wasn't in GT4, since it was my fav in GT1, and GT3 as well.

my top 5...

1. Special Stage Route 11 (GT1 version) - big track, lots of tight but fast corners. nice lighting mainly on the walls on the front stretch and back. very classic track. the only thing i didn't like is the chicane on the stretch under the start/finish line. it would be better if pd just took that out and leave that section there just have a full straight. o well. just bring it back in gt5 please!

2. High Speed Ring - yes my first race ever in the gt series came at this track. not a huge track but very fast. classic again.

3. Grand Valley Speedway - yet another classic track known for its size and scenery. that first corner always would end up with me in the sand.

4. Deep Forest Raceway - once again a classic track dating back to gt1. a fairly small track but very tricky track especially in gt1/2 because its later in the day. very hard to predict the turns and how to take them.

5. Superspeedway (GT3 version) - if you like nascar then should like this track. just an oval with one turn bigger than the other. turns 1/2 you can pretty much go wide open. 3/4 is sharper and have to be more cautious. this track to me is a cross between darlington and new hampshere speedways.

It's funny you mentioned the old version of Midfield while playing GT2 the other night I thought it looked different from GT4. To be honest with with you to me like the GT4 version better. Maybe they could include both versions in the next GT. That would be neat if they add new and old versions of the fantasy tracks.

^ Maybe you can request that on the Track Wish List, and explain the difference between the two. :)

This would be my top 5. I'll do my top 5 in descending order (Z to A).

5. Tahiti Circuit (GT2 and GT3) and Smokey Mountain - North (GT2, known simply as Smokey Mountain in GT3) (tie)
I have to include rally courses as part of the favorite track deal. Two rally courses I've greatly enjoyed were Tahiti Circuit and Smokey Mountain. I hated Smokey Mountain in GT3 because of the paved road. Tahiti Circuit gives some high-speed rally thrills. I even remember making my Escudo fly high into the air from some of the jumps. Too bad this didn't make it into GT4. I'd trade Swiss Alps for this course in terms of rallycross action. Smokey Mountain is awesome as hell. I preferred the North course in GT2 over the forgotten Smokey Mountain South.

Costa di Amalfi (GT4)
While not the most popular of the two Italian tarmac rally courses in GT4 (the other being Citta di Aria), I've grown fond of Costa di Amalfi since pictures emerged on GTPlanet and such. I connected with this track because it kind of feels like something in the Project Gotham Racing series. I could actually enjoy some drifting action if I could slide around effectively. It's very fun to race in my view. Doesn't matter if you have the beautiful Honda S800 Race Car or a Jaguar XJ220 Road Car, it's a great track. Italian touge action.

3. El Capitan (GT4)
El Capitan is a newcomer to the GT series. What it accomplished is that it is a wonderfully-designed temporary road course. The elevation changes as well as the overall flow of the track is a mix of road racing and rally in an amazing package. It is a wonderful track for a variety of cars to race. I usually like racing perfectly-tuned street cars and even some racing machines. Awesome track.

2. Tokyo R246 (GT3 and GT4)
I'm normally a fan of street courses. I enjoy urban landscapes. Tokyo R246 is completely unique as this is based on (as I've learned a bus route in Tokyo. Also unique is that this is where you can see the Polyphony Digital building making laps around the streets of Tokyo. It's also unique because I love Tokyo. I love Japan. And there's nothing like racing around one of your favorite cities on a wonderfully-designed track. Tokyo R246 is a great mix of technical corners and high speed. I enjoy racing this track. In the future, I'd love to race this track around twilight or in the early night stages. Tokyo never really comes alive until nighttime.

1. Grand Valley Speedway (GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4)
What more could I say? Grand Valley Speedway is the signature race track of Gran Turismo. It defines all that Gran Turismo is about and has defined what Gran Turismo is about. It's a true Grand Prix race track unique to Gran Turismo. It's an amazing track. The signature Grand Valley 300km is a 2-hour challenge unlike any other. Strap in. You're going for a ride.

Notables I haven't mentioned:
Suzuka Circuit (GT4)
Red Rock Valley Speedway (GT2)
Special Stage Route 11 (GT1 and GT3) (surprised I didn't include this in my Top 5)
MotorLand (GT4)
Motor Sports Park (GT2)

As an off-topic note, I was typing this up while watching a beautiful Gran Turismo 5 Prologue trailer on G4TV. Beautiful stuff.

It just goes to show how great the track selection GT has (compared to a game I won't mention) considering that no one has put Laguna Seca on their favorites.

1. Red Rock Valley Speedway-great track for speed quick turning
2. Rome Night- a great track would be fun w/F1 cars
3. Trial Mountain- a original that is great test turning abilities
4. Laguna Seca- corckscrew/hairpin :P
5. Cote D'Azure` you have to be a moron to hate this track, great one
6. R246 great flatish all out track
7. Special Stage R11(gt1 version) lets see what stops you in your tracks
8. Seattle- I like the steps and the 90'S
9. Grand Valley Speedway- long track nice thin hairpins, like alternative shorts too
10. Nurburgring-long ring cool turns and long line speedway

(Sorry. Meant to post something in another thread. My bad.)

I'm even a fan of Deep Forest. But it's another one that I had to cut from my list of best tracks.

I just had to update my favorite track list after playing all the GTs (I don't remember the password to my old "afc2112" account anymore!)

9. Grand Valley Speedway - tunnels, tunnels, tunnels...Would be ranked higher if GT4 had better sound!!

10. Apricot Hill Raceway - Another great flowing track.

11. Special Stage Route 11 - Night racing in a technical road course. Love those chicanes with the guardrails nearby!!

12. Daytona Road Course - We need the Rolex 24h!!!

T13. Opera Paris/Rome/London - One is a high-speed circuit & the other a highly technical one. I like them both a lot.

14. Red Rock Valley Speedway - A fairly simple high speed track, great track layout.

15. Hong Kong - Love the harbor section. High speeds with 2 kinks in a beautiful setting.

16. Tokyo R246 - Love the high speed leafy area coming out of turn 5.

T17. El Capitan/Grindelwald/Eiger Norwald - The mountain tracks. All 3 are similar in concept but all 3 are fun in a distinct way.

1. Monaco I have yet to race on a track that flows as well as this one. You're almost always turning so you can feel the flow of the track that much better. I don't find it hard but rather a joy to drive on.

2. Le Mans My type of track. Long fast straights, tight turns, and sweeping corners.

3. SSR11 (GT3) This is the best fictional street track ever created. Doesn't flow nowhere as good as Monaco but isn't too shabby. The GT1 version had a dangerous/rediculous chicane so the GT3 version gets the nod.

4. Fuji 90s (GT4) Fast straights and tight corners. May the most aggressive driver win.

5. Grand Valley (GT3) I hardly remember the GT1 version so GT3 gets the nod. GT4 butchered this track by slowing it down and making it far too technical.

6. Daytona Road Seeming easily track when seen from a distance but in reality is surprisingly technical

7. Test Course This track with 16 drivers online in GT5 is going to be INSANE.

8. Nurburgring Nice long test track, although there are too many corners for it to have its own identity the track still remains pretty fun.

9. Tokyo R246 Alot of flaws in the track design, but what can you do when you have to work with real roads.

10. Can't think of one
