In my eyes he was just saying they were annoying, I doubt that affected the rating at all.

I would've given it a negative 2 without visuals, and then like a negative 4 with the subtitles. It's just limited at zero though.

Still don't see it.. The song is pretty simple. And if you take note of the band name its the polar opposite of things you claim. Don't really care about grades, just wanted a reason with substance.

Its silly how you claim a mosh band is pretentious and you come back with a spastic indie band that tries nothing but to stand out. Which good music does not make. The musicianship was fanciful incoherent noise and the vocals are reminiscent of Alvin and the Chipmunks invariably singing the same words in between random verse of broken poetry.

This thread lacks analysis... random grades or waiting till someone posts your favorite band so you can related and go 10/10 MAH FAHVORITE SAWNG!

Anyways.. 1/10 I hated it.

I apologise most sincerely if I have offended you. I based the style and tone of my statement off of what people who had previously posted in the thread had used.
I said that I found them to be 'pretentious posers' because that's how most heavy metal sounds to me. I used to like that sort of music, but at some point I went right off it (except Rage Against The Machine and Led Zeppelin, they're cool) and started finding just about anything with traditional guitar solos pretentious. I understand that our tastes differ, and that we have every right to have differing tastes, and express our different tastes.
People should not argue about things as ridiculous as metal vs indie, especially when a greater enemy exists.

This thread really does not suck. It's the "Oh why wasn't my chosen song rated at a 10" thread, or so it is turning out to be. Look, it's an open forum and it has to be expected that not every song chosen will "make the grade" as some might expect. Just grade the song and post up the next, then move on. Basically, you just have to deal with a low rating from time to time. Things in life do not always show up with a silver lining in every cloud.

Your chosen song may not be the next guys cup of tea ..... let's just deal with it, can we ? Or one of the Boys in Blue may just pay a visit to this one and throw the padlock at it if this kind of bickering keeps up.

As far as the above song, I'll give it a 6.5 / 10. I like some of Prince's stuff, but this song is a solid in betweener (word ?) It just has that kind of Funk sound, which in my opinion is alright, but not overly catchy.

Here's one of my favourites:

Give it a 2/10. Started out really slow. The singers inaudible wailing and moaning wasn't appealing. Instruments were the best part of the song.



Also; As a Canadian, huge fan of rock n' roll, and fan of April Wine, anything by them gets 10/10 from me.

I don't associate with mindless genre wars. Manufactured pop music is the least of my concerns and it effects me in zero ways. I'm not a mindless metal head that hates indie... I hate the term indie though because indie isn't really indie anymore... Most indie bands are on major record labels that are just disguised as indie and are usually just another rock band with alternative instruments thrown in but you can find that in everything.

I'm assuming this is directed at me, and like I said.. I don't care about ratings at all.. I just wanted substance. I have bigger things to worry about then if someone likes my music or not. But I'm trying to bring an actually discussion into this thread so its not just another post count booster thread with no real meaning.

Oxbow is sweet, I saw them live and the lead singer is border line crazy. Incredible stage presence, I was about 10 feet from him and his package shaking dance.
