Got down to a 1:03.553 (I think) which was good enough for 9th when I did it but not sure where I am now.

Could've gone ever quicker too! Slight hesitation in the second part of Spoon, could've had another 0.050 or maybe more.

I need to try and improve my time, haven't had a crack at it for a couple of days.

Yeah I can't get spoon right. Rest of the lap was brilliant but I dropped a bit of time there. So you're right. Probably won't have another go, was happy to be 0.2 behind Dan. That's where I left GT5 so happy enough with that.

I finally got the settings to my liking and had a relatively error free lap, just barely dipping below the gold medal time. To say I was pleased with myself is an understatement; and yet, I'm blown away by the rest of you having the ability to set times below 1:15, or even 1:05. I hadn't played GT5 for a while, nor had I downloaded updates for some time, so unfortunately, my payout was only 3.5 million, but I'll take that any day of the week.

Anyway, thanks to those who provided tips.

My best official time is 1.14 which I'm pretty pleased with for this DS3 user, until you look at the "official" SV event in which you have to do two 1.13 laps just to bronze it... ouch.

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't add the multiplier until after I'd golded it on all my accounts as I only got 5 million for all of them and I still have a bunch of OCD cars to buy. Oh well, back to the regular grinding.

Got my time down by 0.2s to a 1.04.7 now. I'm still losing probably 0.3s in the first sector, for some reason I can't get the esses right at all.

That would take me to a 1.04.04, I have no idea how I'm supposed to get that extra whole 1s or so that the very best people can, it just feels ridiculous.

That's a really good lap, I'm trying to match your time but I lose so much time trying to get a good launch out of that slow hairpin at the start of the second sector.

Thank you, I know that hairpin can be annoying most of the time, I can't even do it as fast as I did before, I just try to make sure the car gets into first gear or it will run wide.

1.13.xx on my first lap, time shows in RED. then another lap under 1.25 and still showing red.

Figured this one out.
Kept running off the track on the first corner etc. Took my time, came off the road once and manager to do it in 1:24.xx.

I don't think anybody I race is faster than me in the same car same setup especially on hot lap pace (Without seeming to brag, of course thats just the people I race with to. Although I know Nurd, DeMiSe and Ghost all whom I race with are very very quick drivers). Although I would never say anyone is unbeatable I know many people can beat me , so I just take it as it comes. Usually when I race online it's just for fun I don't take it seriously and I hardly ever overtake aggressively so perhaps maybe over confidence there by Nurd a bit although hopefully another GT Academy will appear and we can test true speed , hopefully can race you some time Saidur always good to race new people !

Hehe nice to be known as the master of the x2010 on the ds3 although I dont know whether I'd be any good anymore on a pad I've not used it in ages lol. I saw Edds lap, saw his status to was a good lap and he seemed proud of it which is always good something I do alot!

I thought you would be quicker. I have never raced online in GT5, might do soon though. I guess you have EDDSKILL on your friend list then, might try to add him if he is not full yet with requests. He ranked 1st in the World on the event, something definately to be proud of. I wonder if he will run this event. I will give this another run today hopefully and see if I can get into the 3's.

haha , we should do what me and dan was about to do (connection wasn't great so as we were about to start it was just me alone on start line .) Which was 1 picks a car (From recommended) and the other picks a track, it's the only kind of racing I like doing online tbh if I'm there because you have to drive on the edge or find time on the track to beat people which is the most fun (Rome - Reverse is now my favourite track as I take the chicane faster than most !)! It's also the same for the TT here at GTPlanet I'll only try those that require same setup and finding the time if you know what i mean . But I'd still be up for a race around the top gear test track in the SLS .

But I also hated the fact people said it was impossible. I always knew it was possible even if it it didn't seem to when first attempting it, practice, perfection and confidence always helped . Another help was finding the drift technique in the car, especially at the right before the 1st split with the wheel/dirt technique. My reaction afterwards I wish I had recorded the feeling of beating something that had taken that long was immense, best feeling from gaming I have ever had.

Top Gear race sounds good, I hear online physics is different so need to learn that. I’ll add you on PSN. The only racing I’ve done in GT5 is what Vettel has done for most of this season so it will be a new experience for me racing against faster drivers in this game.

Im glad people understood, I instantly ordered the blackmagic intensity pro once I knew I was on for it with the pad. Just a shame my webcam wasn't any good :S. I know my housemates got annoyed with me sometimes lol, due to the time I spent .

Im upto a 1:03.6 but was on for a .1/.2 but messed up a bit at spoon and the chicane. My worst corner seems to be the hairpin at the moment, and there's a new trick to turn 1 which can help gain a few tenths to get under the 1:03 barrier. Unfortunately don't have the same time I did have when doing that as Im working now, was at Uni then so it was basically always free time lol until Easter when you realize that you have all your assessments to hand in lol.

Good time regardless though, makes you the fastest Brit. Hairpin is hard to get right as you don't want to brake too much and get to a slow speed, I think you have to like keep the slowest speed to like 70MPH but can't remember. This car is so fast, looking at what MPH you are dropping down to and speed carrying through corners while manual shifting makes things very hard. I actually find the hardest part keeping away from the grass, it easily sucks you in .

It's a shame he had to cheat, it looked to be an incredibly quick lap. Once again, PD set a time trial event without checking the track boundaries. Just like the previous SLS AMG Event before they relaunched it with the corrections.

The event closed today @ 16:00, it was quite short only one week i think.

I was going to attempt what you mentioned but have seen the event is now closed. For some reason I thought the event was ending tomorrow. Oh well, it looks like there was a shortcut in the final corner. I don't get why PD can't make the track boundaries invalidation work properly. I think it puts Silex95 as the proper winner who went round the track the right way fastest.
