It never got resolved. They've had it since FM3. You can almost always hear the line bouncing off the limiter in replays. I just stick to manual and lift off the throttle to give it that manual stick-shift effect. :D
The sound from bouncing off the limiters is due to a lag effect within the replays and not the direct feed of the game itself. It always prolongs that noise by quite a bit compared to what actually happened while driving. I don't think that's the issue.

Yes, you don't seem to hear it while driving. Regardless, the tranny gets damaged, even if its not by a whole lot.

It is still faster to use manual w/ clutch though, you get smoother changes from gear to gear and it helps a lot on corner exit too so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Sure - not necessarily realistic though. Try to shift like that on a stick manual trans IRL and you're looking at heft car repair bills.

Wouldn't the way manual/clutch works, and how people use it without letting off the gas be more realistic though? Considering you're talking about how much damage it would cause in real life, since you're saying it also causes a lot of damage in game as well?

Either way, I wasn't fussed about how "realistic" I was shifting, I was more worried about pace and consistency.

I've been playing online a lot more lately, with mixed results. The key is really to take it easy on the first few corners and let the noobs wreck themselves...

I had an absolutely amazing handful of races in the A class lobbies tonight with 4-5 other drivers, all of us probably around the same skill level, including a race at Watkins Glen where I finished 2nd but most of us finished in the same second. Congratulations and pats on the back were exchanged afterwards via messaging, it was refreshing to see clean, close racing for once.

Also had a funny race around the Le Mans Bugatti circuit with a kid that straightlined the chicane on every single lap yet still finished behind me...

Ah, I've been exclusively running the A class lobby for a few months now (trying to max out affinities for as many marques as possible, so running some unusual cars). Wish I could experience that, since it's been pretty crap lately.

Heh, when I see someone intentionally cutting there or at Yas, I always make sure to take the proper line and give them absolutely no room. I've received angry messages from people for "blocking" when they cut a chicane and then bump into me, spinning out.

I usually run P class nowdays (unless I join @SlipZtrEm in an A class lobby) and it's pretty decent competition for the most part. I kinda gotta laugh when I see the occasional Bugatti Veyron with a monster livery though

It's usually pretty crap, especially in S class lobbies, I was actually pretty surprised at how sedate things were yesterday, which is probably because the lobby never got full, at best there were 13 or 14 players, with a few bad apples in there obviously.

Now that Porsche is confirmed for FM7, I'm tempted to make a "most anticipated Porsche in FM7" thread. The problem is I know someone will simply list every Porsche made in the last 60 years and think themselves clever.

Maybe set up guidelines for it? Such as no more than x Porsches per post?

It's been a long time since I've played FM6. I just hopped on it the other night after months of playing Assetto Corsa and Project CARS and DiRT Rally. It's weird to go back to, the physics seemed really off to me and I wasn't doing too well, but after the first lap around Laguna Seca, everything just 'clicked' and I remembered how to drive fast in Forza. The game is a lot of fun, especially when you're goofing around with friends and challenging yourselves to create a competitive car out of something that shouldn't be.

I still play Forza and owned AC for a brief period. When you say the "physics seemed off", are you basing that off actual driving experience or just compared to another games' physics with a wheel? Just curious, that's all.

When I said that, I meant since I was so used to the physics of the other games, the feel of the game felt weird.

How active is the online community these days? Still enough online races?

When it comes to the online hoppers I can still find full lobbies anywhere from C class up to P class. In E class the most I've seen since FH3 came out was 8 players but usually only 4-5 players. D class I haven't played for quite some time so can't comment, and X class I've never played. I think unless you're only interested in E class there will be enough players.

If you're referring to leagues or other private racing, there are still a number of active championships there.

Unicorns are up for grabs this weekend:

#ForzaRC Bounty Hunter Starts Today
Our celebration of the Forza Racing Championship continues in a big way, starting today! At 3 p.m. Pacific we’ll be kicking off our latest Bounty Hunter event, where you can compete to beat the Bounty for a chance to win awesome exclusive bonus cars in Forza Motorsport 6.

If you’ve never done a Bounty Hunter in Forza, here’s how they work: One person – in this case, Yours Truly – is the Bounty. Once the #ForzaRC Bounty Hunter Rivals event goes live, I’ll set an initial lap time in the event and will continue to update that time over the weekend. Once the event closes, we’ll award bonus cars out to players who meet predetermined conditions. In other words, drive as fast as you can and, if you beat me, you get something cool. Easy, right?

With Season 3 of the ForzaRC being presented by Porsche, we’ll be driving the Porsche 959 for this event – look for the track information once the event is live. This Bounty Hunter takes place this weekend only and I’ll be livestreaming my hot laps on Twitch and Beam during three different times this weekend (note that Saturday’s show will be broadcast only on Beam). During the shows, I’ll be trying to beat my best time and following along with all of you as you try to beat me.

Here’s the schedule:
Friday 3pm
Saturday noon-1pm (Beam only)
Sunday noon-1pm

After Sunday’s broadcast ends, my final time will be set and everyone will know exactly what they must do to beat me. The Bounty Hunter Rivals event will close at midnight Pacific, Sunday night and the gift cars will go out the following week. And just what are those gift cars and how do you win them? Well, take a look:

Do This
Win This
Beat Mechberg’s Final Time: 1971 Ferrari Automobili 312 P and 1984 Opel Manta
Come within 5 seconds of Mechberg’s Final Time: 1984 Opel Manta
Random draw – 500 non-winners: 1973 Ford Escort RS1600

So, there you go. Bounty Hunter starts today and I’ll set my preliminary times during today’s #ForzaFriday broadcast. In the meantime, make sure you add me as a friend on Xbox (GT: Mechberg) so you’ll know who you’re chasing this weekend!

My best time so far is 1:40.540 on my second lap, Mechberg is 1:53.264 so far?

Was he drunk or something?

Well he has two more days to sober up and destroy my dreams like last time.

I managed to get down to 1:34.08x after about a dozen laps, hopefully that'll be good enough because I don't think I can get much more gaming time in this weekend... Raceboy77 is at 1:30.984 which is absolutely ridiculous. I tried following his ghost around and completely lost sight of him after the 3rd corner. :/

I managed to get down to 1:42.543, which I don't consider that bad considering I've never driven this layout before and the 959 probably isn't the best choice to learn a new track.

Kept looking in the standard rivals tab and was wondering why I couldn't find this :dunce:, for those with the same issues: it's under the Porsche tab on the main menu.

Managed to hit a 1:31.9, had a pretty poor first sector, middle and last sector were ok but not great. I messed up a 31.6 just a few laps before because them last 2 corners are so hard to get right.

It's VIR North, really challenging in this car and makes for a fun combo.

I found it harder to run fast laps with normal steering, I slide the car just a little as it seems to understeer way too much without some sliding, but with normal steering it was quite difficult to keep the car at that sweet spot between drifting and full grip. Simulation steering allowed me to turn in hard and the car would naturally fall in to that sweet spot, the only difficult thing being managing the slide over the kerbs.

I have no idea how fast Mechberg actually is, but I'll guess we can just be grateful it's not Triton or VoodooUomo.

The last time (?) they did this the time they set was in the top 100 in rivals for that particular car class.

I was enraged lol. I've never gotten closer than 5 seconds from the top time, it was goddamn ******** lol. Unless you were one of the top drivers in Forza you weren't ever getting the Unicorn.
