I don't get scared that much but playing the Silent Hill games really scare me.

There were "jump" moments that scared you pretty good. And, there are a lot of creepy moments in the game, but it's not the most scary video game of all time. Again, the sounds and music are the creepiest things about the game. They did a great job with that, but that's about it. Again, it's very creepy but not scary.

Which one do you think is most scary of all?

To me it was Resident Evil 2 by far. Probably because I bought it after I only owned a NES, so I wasn't used to it yet.... some moments literally made me jump 2 feet off the couch. Like when zombies grabbed your arm. Resident evil 3 also gave me the ****ters though.... after not saving for a long time I had some nervous moments trying to avoid nemesis.

Silent Hill never really scared me. I only played silent hill 1 for a bit, and nearly finished silent hill 2. Silent hill 2 just couldn't scare me because the enemies were just midgets with pointy hats to me. :S

RE2. It had the most "jump" moments. But, RE4, overall, is the creepiest. It's non stop creepy. There a few jump moments, but nothing major.

I think why RE4 isn't that scary is the music. It's constant. You never get a chance to be caught off guard, like in RE2. When something, like an attack, is about to happen, the creepy music starts up. Though, the maze was scary, mostly because there was no creepy music playing at the time. There were times were you when you were caught off guard.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Resident Evil 4 sure does give you that creepy feeling that you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. :nervous: The storyline, background music, along with evil people gives you that atmosphere that you are in an environment being controlled by your enemies. I find it very creepy when you are in a place where your enemies know where you are and is constantly trying to kill you. :nervous:

I find the remake of Resident Evil 1 the most scariest resident evil because of the close quarter knife fighting and shooting you have to do. Its all about those dark hallways that is placed all over the mansion that gives you that feeling that you don't have enough room to run where you want. One thing about that remake that could make it more frightning is to take away the background music! All you can hear is your footsteps, sounds of zombies, and the sound of someone coming toward you from a bush! :scared:

I think RE4 is the creepiest, none are scary in my eyes (nothing is! lol). I think its just cause it has much better graphics than previous RE's.
They can put more detail into the deaths & the bad guy things! I've never gone urghh so much!

I haven't played RE4 so I'm not even going to look at the previous page, because I don't want to run into spoilers.... but RE2 definitely could catch you off guard. I guess the fixed viewpoints also helped in creating those type of encounters. In RE4 you have 3D view, so you can see things coming.

Though it's been a while since I played SH2, I'm pretty sure there weren't any "midgets with pointy hats". There were maniquinn people tho, and a few other odd monsters.

But Silent Hill has always been better quality as far as survial horror than RE, until recently at least.

Resident Evil is always the same BS, RE4 was the first to do something fresh, and hopefully it moves in a nice new direction. The story always seems so rehashed though, RE4 was a GREAT addition to a dying series.

Now for all you survival horror buff's, I'm sure none of you have played Fatal Frame, which IMO, is one of the best series that is SO underrated. If you ahven't played them yet, give at least on of them a shot, there are 3 right now, IMO 2 and 3 being the best, 1 was good, but the other two made great improvements.

Check em out ;)

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I have only played Fatal Frame II was too scarry for me to even finish. :nervous: I have forgetten all about Fatal Frame until Tha_Con brought it up. Thanks a lot since I will have nightmares again. :grumpy:

2 was awesome, the twins freak me out, all twins freak me out in fact.

Fatal Frame 3 is SO much better, the fear factor is just great. So many good elements used in this, plus the addition of a flashlight adds nicely to dim lit areas, makes you feel really isolated.

Sorry to bring up nightmares! lol, you should play the 3rd one though...for a good scare!!

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I don't think I will ever try any Fatal Frame games because they are simply too scarry. :scared: I am not very good with big time scarry movies and Fatal Frame is just like them.

Does anyone find those Regenerators in Resident Evil 4 scarry? :odd:

Are the regenerators the things you have to kill with the rifle & the infra red??
If so..... NO. but everytime i hear that weird noise they make it does make me go oh s***. lol.
I find noises much creepier than images for some reason, but then i dont get scared really by anything (im just un scare-able!! woohahaha!)

Just completed it. Best (adventure) game i have played in along time, much better than MGS3 or Fahrenheit. And longer!

How long did it take people to complete it first time round?? be honest!
My clock time was 14 hours something.

I just got RE4 yesterday! Had to trade in 17 games to get it (!), but it was worth it. Really liking it so far, love the new style and everything. It's really cinematic, excellently written and presented. The gameplay is great too, blowing a guys head open with a shotgun is really satisfying. Anyway i'm somewhere in the middle of chapter 3 right now, really like it so far.

I like to spend a lot of time searching for everything. First time it took almost 30 hours.

I just finished my third game at under twelve hours.

The Ada missions (Seperate Ways) takes about three hours. It sucks that you can't use a new special uniform for Ada.

I think I'm finished with this game. I don't feel the need to play it anymore.

Are you CRAZY? You can sell 17 games on ebay and buy 4 copies of Resident evil 4.

About fatal frame, I don't believe that series ever made it to Europe, which is a shame.

17? What, Game Boy games?

No, just really old PS2 games :D

For example:

Pro evolution soccer one two and three
WWF smack down: just bring it and shut your mouth
Tekken Tag

Stuff like that.

I got £45 for the lot though, so i got the limited edition RE4! It's cool, metal case and stuff.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I can't believe you traded in Tekken Tag.... :grumpy:

The limited edition box is cool btw. 👍 I am keeping my Ada Wong picture in a safe place so it doesnt get messed up.

Yeah i was sad to lose Tekken, my first PS2 game! It was worth it though, RE4 is great. Don't remember getting an Ada Wong picture though? Maybe it's different in other countries.

Solid Lifters, have you tried Professional mode yet? :odd:

I am on chapter 3 right now on pro mode. Ammo drops is scarce.....
Yep, and it's hard. Really hard. Get use to idea of killing with your knife, or just running away. Save your ammo for boss fights. I highly recommend using the Special 2 uniform.

Fatal Frame was re-named "Project Zero" for the UK and Europe for some reason. Amazon.co.uk
Not tried it but I may do if the third game comes out here. Tecmo.com
PS. It would seem Fatal Frame III is out in the US but not in the UK!

Thanks, I might check it out some time. Is Project Zero Fatal Frame 1 or a sequel?

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I didn't select the Special 2 uniform. :indiff: I find myself running away quite often and grabbing ammos and herbs. I would only use my knife to get them to go down or get blinded so I can kick them away and run again.

I plan on doing several runs on Pro mode so I can get the Handcannon, Inifinite Rocket Launcher, and the Chicago Typewriter to make pro mode a breeze. :O

Like I said before, it's not worth playing in Pro level because the PLR 412 rifle is just not worth it. The Tommy Gun is so much better than that thing. Plus, Pro level is very hard and not much fun since you will get killed every two minutes when the game action gets intense. I just wish Leon had more moves. Again, the "wait for the flash icon to appear for the kick move" was a real stupid idea. Plus, the character control, a la Resident Evil game series, is still unnecessary slugish. Plus, you get the handcannon when you complete all of the timed missions with a five star rating, which is not easy. Again, the Handcannon can't come close to the fun and firepower of the Tommy Gun.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I would like to see for myself if the PLR 412 is worth it or not. 👍 If it isn't, then I can at least have some bragging rights that I have completed Pro mode. :O

To me, dying is not an issue, but Ashley is. :grumpy: She is the one getting hit often and I have to heal her when her meter is yellow. I kinda do regret that I should have picked Special costume 2 in the beginning right now.

14 games to get 1, are you mad!! soz but you get well and truelly ripped off! I traded in 3 & only had to pay £8 for it (or £13 if i wnated the shiny box).

Just completed the shadows extra thingy were you play as Ada. That was quite hard towards the end i kept running really low on ammo (never quite out tho). & i never purchased the crossbow!

That is Seperate Ways. I don't remember, and I think you can't, buy weapons or upgrades in Ada Ass. I've complete Seperate Ways three times. It's super quick an easy once you unlock the Tommy Gun and get 300,000 Pesetas to buy it, which can be done near the beginning of your second SW game, provided you found all the treasures your first time through.

I'm not trying to tell anyone to not run through Pro mode. I'm just warning them it's not worth it if you want the PLR rifle thing. Plus, it's really hard if you plan to tackle the game the same way you did the normal level. Pro level is mostly shoot knee, and slice. If there's more than two baddies, it's run like hell. To me, that's not much fun. I like to stay and shoot my way out of a sticky situation, but you can't do that in Pro Mode because you'll die instantly.

Again, if only Leon had sidestep moves in walk and running speed, aim and shoot for sidestep and backwards movement, a roll move (like in MGS3) and the ability to kick whenever you wanted. This game would have been more fun to play. I hope they really improve the character movements for RE5. Oh, and new weapon switching feature, because what they have now is really annoying.

Yeah maybe i was, but it's not like i miss them! :D

Anyway, i just beat that Salazar guy. Man he was tough! Can't believe how hard this game i s gonna be on pro mode. I'm getting used to using the knofe more now, on the weaker enemies i usually shoot them in the leg then slash them up.

Heres and interesting question to everyone whos got past this bit:

Which way did you go on the bit when you could use the lever to open the left or right gate? Just curious :)

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I always use the right gate everytime I am at that place. I rather face one El Gigante than a bunch of Garnados. :O I had a very bad experience with fighting a bunch of Garnados with chainsaw ladies in that circle.

I never kill the El Gigante though. I just slow him down by shooting the big rock down, then blast through door, grab the Old Key, and get out. 👍
