I realy dont like them. I would much rather buy a 1967 mustang. Lower it heaps, paint it black with silver stripes or grey with black stripes. Suitable but good looking mags and put a slightly custom body kit on

Well, I think my (and many other Brits') view of Japanese performance cars is a bit different. Hot hatches etc. have always been popular and so we embrace these sorts of cars - especially as we have RHD and therefore get pretty much everything the Japanese produce. Impreza WRX's (ProDrive are a UK company), Lancer Evo's, Skyline's, Type R's, Supra's - we love 'em. :D

Also I'm biased - I'm getting a new Civic Type R (which is built here) in a few weeks! 😈 It's the right tool for the job - country lanes, hairpins etc, it's where I live... :)

Plus 'ricer' isn't really a UK term - although I'm happy to adopt it! :D

Some ricers are ok. But they always kill their cars with ugly body kits and wings. I have no prob with adding power under the hood, but please, put a relatively nice kit on your car!

What are you talking about?

...oh I see! ;) :p

Seems to me that ricers start on the looks, and then go to the motor, but some don't get to the motor, and you have the ugliest, slowest, junkiest poopy car. And then there's the low budget ricers, who start on a Civic Sedan DX auto, and just add hub caps and an erector set wing.

Now I've seen some good jobs, but they weren't rice, more of just making the car better overall. Rice doesn't do that.

And then there's that Import Auto Show on SpeedVision, and all they seem to show are Hondas, and mostly Civics. And they showed a guy who put the motor in the front of his NSX(I thought this was fairly stupid), and another guy who had a Saturn Wagon painted bright blue with these overdone graphics. And it was too low to the ground, the wheels were ugly chrome spiral crap, and it was mostly stock.

Never putting that crap on any car I own. I'll stick with factory accesories and stuff.

one thing to keep in mind though... not all the guys modding those little cars are ricers...

That's Adam Saruwatari... his "stupid" car runs 8second ¼miles because of that...

yeah, i'm with you now... there's a difference between craftmanship, and pure and simple crap... i could show pics, but i'm too bored, and i think you guys understand what i mean...

Anyone in the St. Cloud FL area seen the PowerPuffMobile? Its a rice honda accord i think, with all the standard rice stuff, but with powerpuff girls decals. And its driven buya guy who works at the local Hess station. Ugliest thing i have ever seen

1. It's a Chevy........ :rotfl:

2. It's a Cavalier........ :rotfl:

3. The hood is a different color and that spoiler is disgusting ugly......... :rotfl:

Ricers are ok. I like tuned up cars, but not with the whole "shebang". Just lowering, rims, a cool system, NOS, and maybe a medium-sized spoiler. And sometimes a body kit.

I don't care if this Saturn guy runs a 8 in the 1/4. It's still ugly, and he probably spent more on it than the car cost/is worth.

And just try to drive it normally, it must ride like junk.

let's make a little comparison...

true craftsmanship, meaning the guy has worked a lot to make his car look like that... (Even if's it's not the most beautiful, or purposeful thing, there's still a lot of work involved, much like a guy who fitted a Chevy Small Block in a 32 Ford...)

He fitted Mercedes headlights on a Accord... craftsmanship here...

but this guy's pure crap, he didn't take the time to finish his car, it looks like a POS...

I wasnt talking about the Saturn, but about the NSX... that Saturn was really ugly... bet he's running 18s on the 1/4!

Luckily in the UK, if a Japanese car gets tuned it's quite subtle or at the very extreme, purposeful in a JGTC kinda way. You're more likely to see an Escudoesque tail on a Ford or Vauxhall!! :D

You guy's on the other side of the Atlantic seem to get it a more extreme!! But then again, lowriders, limo's with jacuzzi's, monster trucks... mmmm. ;) :D

Yep we get all the idiots with Vauxhall Novas.

ohhh, yea, the NSX. I thought it would get better traction with the engine where it's supposed to be.

maybe, but then the superchargers wouldn't fit, and he wouldn't be able to slicks as wide, because the body in itself is the same dimensions as the real NSX...

"ricers/imports"? That's like asking, "What do you guys think of rednecks/domestics?"...

Anyways, I like imports way more than I like domestics. The chances of me owning a domestic vehicle are very slim to none(unless it's a Lightning, HD F-150, etc).

The first one is ok, he did a good job fitting them lights in there...

The second one is better. The hood and the trunk are open. ITs finished, he was probably getting ready to leave so he was closing everything. And i think the door is open too.

Its finished though.
