Which one? I have my game saved so that I can choose either one, and I'd like to know which one would be better for taking to the PD championship...

RX-8 might handle better, and it's lighter. If you set it up right it's fast, top speed is only like 210, but that's enough on any track exept test course. I don't really like the Z, it just doesn't seem planted, it skids too much(usually a good thing for me, but not good for raceing)and doesn't handle that good.

I would have to say the Z Concept. I raced against it in the Polyphony Cup, and it was always second. The Corvette Z06 was better, but the dummy had to pit every 2 laps for tires. I guess that is a dumb AI mistake to use super-softs on a 20 lap race series... :banghead:

Errr... I guess Z it is! :) Thanx ppl!

(Sorry MazKid... maybe I'll still go ahead and win an RX-8 though to round-out my garage! ;)

Are you talking about the Ruf CTR? If so, I think I'd still go with the Z... I've tried driving the CTR, and I simply can't get used to its RR setup, and in return I end up going in the dirt a lot. Thanx though! :p

Posted by Mr. Mazda...
it's ok, try the Z, but give the RX-8 a shot, it's fun to drive.

Yup, I've tried the RX-8, and it is fun to drive, though it's a tad lethargic in acceleration (stock). Like I said, I'll probably go win it too just for the heck of it. ;)

Funny you should ask. I actually did a little Road & Track comparrison of sorts just out of curiousity the other night.

I ran each car in stock form around the Complex String a few times, until I had a good feel for each car in it's own turn, and was no longer beating the ghost for a couple laps. I then compared the fastest laps (out of about 10 for each car - yea, it took a while, but it was fun!). I regret to inform the rotary gods that the Z had better lap times to the tune of about 4-6 seconds...

Of couse I am not what I would consider to be a world class driver in the game, but this is as close as I could figure to a fair comparrison under extreme accelleration, braking and every type of corner there is. :)

****, if you want to really get technical, the gt1 road car will absolutely murder every other car in th poly cup

Im sorry but i really dont want to get technical. Second off all i am pretty sure that he has already won his z so maybe you should just leave it at that and go to a new thread. :p :p

maybe i should. i won't though. i like getting technical. i'm a technical kind of guy. as a matter of fact, technical is my middle name. i'm just trying to spruce up this old thread. people are sleeping in here for the love of pete. 39% complete and a **** talker huh?? i admire your spunk. it's obvious that your name suits you. i'm 100% and there's probably nothing you can beat me at. so please, hold your tongue until you know what your doing.

Evidently, I'm not the only one either. ;)

What do you mean pregnant looking anyway? The roof line of the RX-8 is very similar to the 3rd gen RX-7, which has a strong resemblance to the Viper and the Corvette Z-06. The 350Z has that ugly bulge in the front of the roof line.

The RX-8 is a four door sports car that will keep the paces with the 2 seater Z car, and has the wonderful, melodious note of the rotary. :) Performance is the 350Z's strong point, and it's not very strong at that either. :D

I tell you this: I like the 240Z, the 260Z, but for styling, you can keep the rest of the Z pack. Since Datsun was bought out, the Z car has gone down hill in the styling department. Man, Nissan has possession of the "Ugly Stick".

RX-8 looks way better than the Z, and the production version of the RX-8 looks even better.

I have to disagree on that one, Mazkid. I think the 350Z looks far and away better than the RX-8.

Much better styling, and it'll probably out perform it as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a rotor fan. I'd take an RX-8 over a 350Z in a heartbeat, but I think the 350Z is a better *sports* car.

how do you get it so you can just BUY the Z? in mine it just has a dotted liine where the price is supposed to be

If you are going to cut down the looks of the car, at least use the current model. :D

The 350Z is supposed to be a dedicated sports car. The RX-8 is a "family" sports car. The Z should kisck the RX-8's butt in all departments except ride comfort and grocery space, but it doesn't. It barely squeaks by in most departments (but not all), and looks is not one of them. The 350Z should be an embarassment to all Z owners that take pride in their cars. Lack of performance and looks. It surprizes me that Nissan got enough favorable feedback on the Z Concept to even take the 350Z step seriously.

The RX-Evolve looks better than the 350Z IMO. 😈 Of course some people actually like the Altezza too... :Poke:

You're right, the new model looks even WORSE (:

I thought the Evolv was a pretty snazy automobile. I bet the headlights were the driving factor in changing the design, and that forced a redesign of the 'gril'.

The family car / grocery getter are actually my big reasons for wanting an RX-8 over a 350Z, in conjunction with the rotary engine. Mostly I just want to support the better technology.

Funny, I always believed that the RX-8 was a tad better in the performance department than the Z. I guess the smooth accelaration and the nice revving sounds of the RX-8 kind of threw me off. Oh well. However I do agree with Loud Music in that the Z looks better. Ever since I saw a picture of it in someone's garage on IGN, I just had to have that car

To each their own I guess. :) Your taste is backwards from that of a lot of the rotorheads I speak to. The general (but not unanimous) consensus on the Evolv was that the headlight/bumper configuration was FUGLY. The current iteration of the headlights is much improved over the cat eye lights of the Evolv, and certainly over the "WTF are they doing" headlights of the "Detroit Auto Show RX-8" (the red one above).

IMO, the current model (yellow above) is more aggressive looking, and sportier looking than most "true" sportscars out there currently.

The 350Z should be erased form the designers' drawing board. The designers should be euthanized. New designers without cataracts should be hired. They should start again and aim for a 2006 release. :cheeburga

I will focus on just the main points, because I could sit and pick at it all day, and there just isn't enough time in life to spend it on that. ;)

Mind you that the issue seems to have become styling, and I already marginally conceded that the Z performs better in most departments, but not by much considering it is a dedicated 2-seater sports car >cringe< . :)

  • BIG headlights make it look like a beetle. Not the car, the insect.
    Door handles. Ummm... Okay...
BIG square back window. Minivans have these in a more vertical position. :D
Are the tail lights there to look like a sci-fi sketch artists impression of what futuristic cars are supposed to look like, or to keep people on the road from ramming into the rear of your car?
The rear bumper is almost featureless.
Why even have the rear quarter windows? Are they big enough to let significant light in, or to see out of?
The grill is almost perfectly square.
And lastly:

I have never seen a pyramid on the road before.
