If you're understeering off into the corner anyway you've got nothing to lose. I'm not talking about holding the handbrake on, more a case of tiny touches. The other way I counter that is with a harder compound rear tyre. Admittedly I run racing softs, I don't see the big problem people seem to have with their use (You wouldn't give the drummer of your favourite band a set of chopsticks to play a big gig, so why use sub-standard, non-racing, tyres for racing?)

I'm no stig when it comes to lap times so even on RS all round I'm only getting 54's at best. I have however found that a set of RS fronts with Rain tyres on the rear is seriously good, if a little drifty, fun.

I don't know how rare the '79 is, but I buy these sort of cars as soon as they pop up in the UCD so have a little collection going for times like this!

I've won all these races with one tuned to about 115bhp, lightened, lowered, transmission and SS tyres. Expect the inside wheel to spin a lot with no TC and a strange dip in revs out of tight turns, but it does go well thru the corners. The two tracks I had the closest races on were Suzuka (because I made a hash of my first lap plus long straights) and Eifel (there's a lot of ground to make up on cars with almost twice the power).

With the 3x payout, i can finally buy the R10 or save for my Sauber C9.

Kinda glad they made this event easy... personally I find the less time I spend driving a civic the better.
 
Thanks Axle, i've found the '83 civic (it was in my garage allready -LOL- i totaly looked over the poor devil :) ) I like this challenge (makes me laugh some how, i don't know why, but it does) The last one isn't as easy (i find it hard to overtake in a orderly fashion) unless you "trick out" your civic, but a bit of "tweaking" and it's childsplay to gold it. (this works on a lot of GT races btw) It's the sport of how standard can you go wich i enjoy, preferably with as less possible HP in an old as possible car. So i'm of to find the '79 civic. :)

The '83 Civic actually has a flaw. It is really a 1986 Civic. Those front headlights weren't on Civics until 1986 and 1987 for that body style. The '83 to '85 Civic had sunken headlights.
 
What do you think about this events difficulty? I think it's a little too easy or in other words, you almost have to limit the engine of a stock civic to get a real challenge. On the other way, if fully tuned it should be an easy win for everyone out there?

Depends on which CIVIC and what tyres you use.

With the bone stock `98 Type R on CS the Deep Forest one is relatively easy.
The CSR 5 one can be done with a perfect run.
Suzuka and Tokyo reverse is nearly impossible with this car.
Didn´t tried the Eifel reverse with this car yet.

This seasonal is fun now i could afford to buy the last 2 premium LMP cars for my collection. only thing left to do if hope i get the stig's helmet and suit cause i already got all the others except the nascar theme helmets

You could try doing these races with the basic '97 civic default settings with just an oil change, if you still find that its not difficult enough you could try it on comfort hard tyres.

Let us know how you get on, if you find it possible at these settings I would like to try it too, when I get the time.

No you can't.The only Civics you can win as present is this CIVIC SiR-II (EG) '91 from FF Challenge A-spec and this CIVIC TYPE R (EK) '97 from FF Challenge B-spec.

:tup:Agreed!! Love the '79 1500. It's pretty light to start with, but gave it a stage 1 and window weight reduction, I think I tuned mine a bit more than your 115bhp, dropped it to the floor and give it bit of camber (only used sports suspension). It bounces round corners like a go kart - I suppose because it's not overpowered.

And it's a cool 70's orange colour.

Rev drop could be your inside front gaining traction as you straighten up out of the turn?

Also had easy wins in my 240 bhp, lightened etc '91 SIR (EG?). I bought it very early on and haved used for all kinds of races, including the beginner rally events.

Normally I'm not a big FWD fan but these Civics are a real hoot.

The only time the baseball bat analogy comes into play is taking the Redbull X1 into the Sunday Cup.
It could also be used if there was a groove running round the centre of the track and a spike on the underside of your car.

I'm just trying to say that using the correct tools for the job in hand should not be frowned upon, and I can't see any valid reasons from anyone who does take this stance.
Racing tyres, by definition, are produced with the expressed purpose of racing. I'm not belittling anyone who chooses not to use them in an attempt to get a more "realistic" experience, as for a road car performance anyway. But I very much doubt Sebastian Vettell uses Pirelli P5's for circuit racing, or any Touring Car drivers for that matter.
 
Just gave a couple of these a go over lunch. I used the 97 type R EK from the premium dealer. I had it in my garage already and it had a few minor upgrades. I think it had stage 1 engine, ECU chip, racing air filter and catalytic converter and 6speed close ratio tranny. I was running it on CS tires. The power is just about right for this car as it's setup now, but it understeers like a pig.

I was able to beat Deep Forest on my second try without much difficulty.

Tried Clubman Route 5 next and found it much more challenging. Did about 7-8 attempts overall. First one I was about 8-9 seconds off the pace. By the 3rd attempt I had pretty much figured out the line and braking points and was about 3 seconds off first. It felt like I could still shave a second or so off each lap so I thought I'll leave the car alone and keep refining my driving until I can get 1st. Another 5 attempts and I could get no better than 2nd and 1.4 seconds off the lead. My first lap is usually 1:10.3-5 and then I range from high 1:07.xx to low 1:09.xx. I lose time on 2 or 3 laps from running into other cars. If I can get all my passes clean and drive every lap well I know I can get it without any further mods. Those little p*ckers have a knack for getting in the way at the exact point that you can't adjust to go around. The last attempt I was sure I was going to get it, but I was passing the 3rd place car on the 4th lap through the high speed left right and he moved over at the last second and I ran into his arse. That one tap dropped me 10mph and made me drop a gear. I lost too much momemtum and couldn't catch the 1st.

With the way I have it tuned now it reminds of the expert challenges. I like it when I really have to push the car and my skills to the limit to beat the competition. The only downside is that I'm not earning credits as fast as coming in first every time, but I think I'm having way more fun.
