Senna content coming soon?

A certain other game seems to have no trouble having livery-able versions of race cars. Given that base models can only be a range of different colours, as opposed to being painted with rival team liveries and giant wangs (which some content owners might rightly find objectionable), I hardly see what the problem is.

And that game likely got permission from the manufacturers to do so. PD also likely got permission from the manufacturers to make the base models. I'm not saying it would be a problem, but I'm certain it would require Lotus' (or whoever owns the rights) permission to alter such an iconic image/car.

Of course it would.

However, you said it would be highly unlikely that we would see a base model of the 97T. I see no reason why that would be the case. GT6 doesn't have a livery editor, base models are as close as we get, and full use should be made of that feature. Especially with race cars.

I say that only because it's such an iconic image/car and the reason it's being included is specifically to honor Senna. I would be thrilled to have a base model of the 97T but due to the nature of this specific car, the fact that it's a tribute to Senna, and the muddy waters of licensing anything related to F1, I doubt this will be an option for us. I would love to be proven wrong though. 👍

Again, we have examples from that other game of an F1 car and two iconic classic F1 cars that can indeed have liveries added. The classic cars which were also part of a movie honoring two great drivers, and were unique and dominant cars in their own right. There are examples of developers getting around every difficulty you raise.

But whatever. You have no real basis for your assertion that it's unlikely other than "I don't think so", so I'll leave it at that.

I'm wondering how long before someone claims that PD couldn't meet their monthly track DLC plan because they were busy modifying tracks for Senna.
I have one better. How long before someone claims PD is trying to live up to their 1 track per month claim because they released a couple slightly modified versions of tracks that are already in the game.

Well, I suppose if you can show me examples of PD doing things the way most of the other developers do things then I'd certainly retract my presumptions. PD are the kings of making strange decisions and not giving the players what they want, and that's the basis for my "I don't think so". I've never played this "other" game but I've read enough about it on here to know that it has many, many features that GT players would love to have in GT, and the only reason we don't have them is "Because PD". Most other current racing games have things like semi-accurate damage, good sounds, livery editors, actual career modes, options galore, racing that doesn't involve chasing rabbits..............GT has none of these things and probably never will. So going on the presumption that GT may get a feature just because other games have these features.....yeah, I'll just leave it at that.

Not trying to argue with you mate, just sharing my opinion that's been formed after many years of participating in this franchise. I would absolutely love to have a base model of the 97T but my experiences with PD tell me it's not very likely to happen.

Unfortunately, nothing's very likely to happen with PD. I agree in a sense, but all we can really do is keep expecting them to notice the world that they live in.

That certainly would be nice! After the last six months though I've kinda given up hope on that ever happening, they seem to be going in the opposite direction.

If we could customize the number and the name of the driver on the side of the car, it'd be enough for me. A proper base model would be awesome though.

Luckily, I actually would not mind in the least racing a field of these cars in the black/gold livery. What a beautiful sight that would be! But the option to change the color/number would certainly make for a great vintage F1 racing league. 👍

i have to agree with you on that. there are very few F1 cars i'd like to see a whole field of, but the black JPS Lotus is one of them.

I wonder if we'll see Senna's '87 Yellow Lotus that is on the Goodwood Festival monument.

I had some hopes for some serious game changes alongside the updates but that blog update with TTs did a damn fine job at regulating my expectations to simple:

"Just more content"

GT6 - Have Fun Driving. No racing.

Also 1st win > 1st pole for any driver by a mile. Any win really. We won't be getting Estoril though. Much easier to remodel 2 tracks and slap TTs in there calling it a day.

They are not putting the most important parts of Senna career - they are putting what costs less to create and what terrible GT6 core allows them.

Will be fun for some hours, sure. Much less if it the car sounds like a lawnmower though.

All hype and background aside this doesn't change much for GT6 if there are no changes to the game itself.

AI don't need more CPU - they need better instructions. Just like we don't need to be smarter to read a good solution to the problem versus a bad solution but you know that requires work and everything.

In the end PD continues to talk a lot, inflating the real value of the content provided, hiding behind some glorified curtain of big words like "passion", "world changing" when in reality they modeled 2-3 cars and re-touched 2 tracks for us to drive alone or race against the abysmal AI in arcade with no payout and zero customization.

It's all numbers and big words but no real value lately in GT. I will enjoy the car but it's hard to overlook some things.

the two reasons i would LOVE to have a base model! i wonder if they'll properly simulated the old F1 UBER drafting effect!

sorry but no. If you want to have a field of drivers that behave differently you need cpu power for each and all drivers on grid. If you just want a field of competitive cars you would not need much power or more effort of the AI gt6 already has. You should just tell them to RUN. Would it be more interesting or entertaining? Realistic AI takes lots of CPU power. And really ps3 has been already squeezed to the last bit.

It would have required Spa's permission to license that version of the track, which they may or may not be willing to do. PD can't go modifying somebody else's intellectual property as they see fit just because a certain driver competed on that version. For this reason, we are also highly unlikely to see a "base model" of the Lotus 97T. The owners of these cars/tracks dictate what PD can and cannot do with their likenesses, not PD, not Sony and not people on a fan forum.
Project cars has a very old version of spa, so it's possible alright.

For clarification, I think that was his point. 99.9% of GT6 players on this forum are aware, I believe. It's discussed a lot.

Porsche could be the most requested thing outside of livery and course editors...

Ea games having Porsche is the exact reason hardly any other games have Porsche, as EA has an exclusive license.

My point exactly. Who's to say Pcars didn't acquire an exclusive license to the old version of Spa? I'm not saying it's likely or unlikely, just that we shouldn't be assuming things we know nothing about. We'll take what PD gives us and be happy about it, or not (likely the latter).

Few "lists" of Senna's F1 Cars.
Linked picture below is "huge", be warned :)

For reference sake:bowdown::

I completely missed your point, I should probably pay a little more attention in the future.

IKR. That 2 modified tracks alone counts 2 Months :D

Old version of Spa in pCARS is public roads, no license required.

I'm just making the point that these issues are more complicated than any of us know. It may seem simple to us but might be incredibly difficult on their end. As with the base model 97T, I can't think of many things I'd want more in GT6 than the old version of Spa, but I'm certainly not getting my hopes up. The updated versions of Brands Hatch and Monza are going to satisfy me quite nicely on the new track front, especially since both of them look more enjoyable than the current versions we have (IMO). If we get Interlagos and its kart track, I'll do a little dance. 👍
