Should PD place some emphasis on classic cars?

Alright apparently theres been muscle cars of the 50s and 60s in GT4 and I haven't heard too many people complain and whine about them. In fact IMO they where some of the funnest cars to drive and make normal modern production vehicles seem, rather boring and soft.

They're horrible. Mushy understeer. Wallow like pigs. Don't turn in. They make a Corolla seem hardcore. There, I complained. They are damn fun to drive, though. It's challenging.

Actually I have sorry to shoot your assumption out of the sky. Not auto x either, I've driven a 83 Camaro (305ci) on Waterford Hills Road Course, which is 45mins away from my home. The Camaro was my first car when I was 18 and I took it to the road course within the first 6 days of having my license. 👍

Agreed, but when Antonio Ascari won the GP in 1924 he had a recorded speed of 98mph.
Hint Grand Prix races aren't straightline races, this was a road course, Circuit of Ceremona in Italy actually. It wasn't until later on that year or earlier 1925 he drove the same car at a recorded 121mph during a speed record.

I retract. But an average speed of 98 mph still means you're booking it. That's pretty fast for a car with hardly any tires.

You said easy. I'm trying to understand what part is easy... as the challenge of driving old automobiles is part of the fun.

Nobody dies driving F1 cars and LMPs for historicals, either. They are driving quickly, but not at 11/10ths, as they would in the old days. I doubt anyone driving machinery worth more than a house would feel the urge to push that hard.

I like the whole "Encyclopedia of cars" concept, I really do. But, I also want to see the best of the cutting edg because there has NEVER, EVER been a better time to be a gear-head than right now. And to miss out on all the absolute purpose-built machinery being created almost daily would be disheartening.

I'll repeat what I said earlier (and even Niky said it). the cars are too damn valuable as collectors pieces to risk. another thing to keep in mind is that the few surviving cars of that vintage, especially here in the States, even exist anymore. the Museum photos above are why, even the common bulk production cars are so rare they have to be hidden in a museum, now.

we'll have to settle for lowboys, Vickies, and ratrods.

First major problem with GT and classic car is current poor sound quality of GT. I mean the sound is the most important thing in game perspective to recreate authentic feel of driving an old car. So fix the sounds first please.

Exactly, and as Kaz is a "car-loving mad Japanese guy" he will for sure make some of these cars available as DLC, what if PD release a classic car pack every three months? I'm the only one DLC enthusiast in the whole forum? With DLC, PD can improve a lot of other aspects in the game, like physics, and weather and everything that the fans claim, and simply include cars and tracks wanted by fans after the game is released. DLC is a powerful marketing tool too, PD could keep GT5 "alive", as it works on the GT6 development, they just need a small team(like 30 members) to keep updating GT5, and let the other workers work hard on GT6, so maybe we can see porsches and 32 cars in the grid of the Gt6's nurburgring 24h endurance....if the playstation hardware support this big processing effort, of course...

This is a bit of a tangent, but how cool would it be if PD gave us some "vintage" photomode locations to take pictures of our pre-WWII cars in? I'm imagining a Duesenberg sitting on a railway station platform next to a swanky first-class car, smoke from the locomotives in the air, "people" in period clothes with big steamer trunks in the background, all that cool stuff. Parking next to a big ocean liner could be really cool, too.

Seeing as there's going to be more Holdens in the game, the older ones would be great too. That way the rest of the world can experience Holden's first ever car the FX or if you're elderly then its a 48-215.

I have heard Gran Turismo as being classed as an 'Encyclopedia of Cars', by adding more classic car's they are increasing the timeline of GT.

When was the Hudson Hornet Produced? And on the smaller side of the scale at about the same there was a car called,I think, the Metzger mini or something like that. So can anybody help with the actual name of the second car and when they were made? I think they would both be interesting to drive to say the least. Pics?

Yes you've heard right, Kaz himself actually stated that he wanted GT4 to be a type of interactive encyclopedia of cars that would be used and referred back to throughout time.
Hopefully he will continue with this encyclopedia trait.
