You're wasting your time.

Every time I point out that there's a real-life actual single-seater circuit racing series which uses a nitrous system, but it just seems to pass over their heads.

Some people take their misoF&Fy too far.

You people are absolutely thick. Opinions are worthless. Your opinion that it's for cheaters or for straightline racing is irrelevent.

What is relevent is that nitrous oxide is an actual, real life performance modification that actual, real life cars use in actual, real life racing events. The Gran Turismo series sells itself as a realistic simulator, so it should use real life performance modification like nitrous oxide systems.

:dopey:

You used a smily! I'm marking that down in the history books!

👍

Famine's right, theres a race series that allows I think 3 shots of nitrouse injection, however it is not allowed in 99% of circuit racing, in drag races however it is far more common. I would say GT4 should include nitrouse injection but limit it to certain drag racing events only, and if GT4 happens to feature that series that uses nitrouse which Famine is referring to then have it in that series only, but only if it doesn't change the nature of play too much, and it should be limited to 3 shots like it is in real life.

theres plenty of lightly modified cars with nitrous here in h-town. I don't see what the problem is. Gran Turismo's a driving simulator. It has drag racing. Lots of people use nitrous in drag racing in real life. Whats the problem?

The problem is they use it in non legitamet races, look up and records track records, racetracks ban nitrous for competition. That's why it shouldn't be in GT4. It's about racing. No doubt next you idiots want cheat codes for the next game.

...but nitrous isnt CHEATING!!! yea some racetracks ban nitrous, so that means no one who buys GT4 wants it? i have an idea! 💡 just DONT buy the nos!

*EDIT*
...and if you're racing against someone online you could have rules in your race that ban nitrous so it would be "fair" :dopey:

I wouldnt mind if nitrous was in gt4, it certainly has application in drag racing and would require some skill to use.

As said before, the drag track should have it. But I still feel it would ruin the game.

baha, you guys are still doing the "NOS is a company, nitrous oxide is a chemical compound" dance. Guess what? No one cares, it doesn't change a damn thing, it's a freaking pointer. Everytime you see NOS mentally replace it with nitrous oxide if it makes you feel better and leave lazy, ignorant people to their lazy, ignorant ways.

And whilst one single individual person's opinion may not generally matter, the 83% No vote suggests that quite a significant majority of people don't think it's appropriate for Gran Turismo. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 242 voters qualifies as a reasonably signifcant sample space, when you consider the variation amongst the people who have come to post here, you get at least a respectable representation of the Gran Turismo fanbase, and thus what they want.

Argue about how it's legitimately used in a grand total of one obscure form of motorsport all you want, but I think there are a lot of things that could do with attention before we consider adding nitrous oxide to the line up. GT to me is Gran Touring, until I see a FIA Mandate on a sport to include nitrous, I'm not gonna approve. Call me thick if it makes you feel better.

Indeed - although it's a pity many of them were operating under false assumptions (as are many of the "Yes" voters, it must also be said), but that's democracy for you.

Good job it's not a democracy at PD... :D

I didn't vote, as neither option is suitable for my opinion.

Formula Palmer Audi isn't terribly obscure - it's analogous to Formula Ford. Although you're right to say it's not well-known.

You're thick.

Hey... that really works! :D

Just look at the vote.....149-30 LMAO hahaha

All that shows is the lack of knowledge about N20 and it's uses. It also shows how easily people are manipulated by stereotypes.

Why shouldn't be?
Drag Racing is confirmed, then NOS must be in GT4! :)

Also the NITROUS OXIDE system is always turned on, and is only activated when you reach a certain speed/RPM or if you floor it. It is not activated by pushing a little red button. If you set a system up like that, then when you hit the button the influx of NITROUS OXIDE into the engine would probably do it more harm than good. The NITROUS OXIDE needs to be added to the fuel/air mix at a steady pace and not like a shot gun going off in a porta-loo :) The only way to turn a NITROUS OXIDE system off would be to turn the canisters off by using the valve on the bottle itself.

Cheers

Jamie

This is grossly inaccurate. You describe ONE correct way to apply N20, but the rest of your statement is wrong.

So here's the smartie once again, ready to state his points about whether or not NOS should be in GT4.

If GT4 was an illegal street-racing game, it's a no-miss.

Why is this? Is illegal street racing the only place people use N20?

JohnBM01
If GT4 was a drag racing game mostly featuring sport compacts and tuners, it's a no-miss.

But there is a drag mode. What if it was used ONLY in the drag racing mode, would it THEN be acceptable? It would seem so, according to your opinions.

How does the sport compact play into it? I'm sure the "smartie" is well aware of the vast uses (and extensive hostory) of N20 in big block V8's even today...long before "sport compacts" were even termed.

JohnBM01
If GT4 was a game where you can illegally modify cars

Since when is the use of N20 illegal?

JohnBM01
But since GT4 will be a racing game that's about racing, it's a miss.

I believe drag racing, is "racing" (I think it's even in the definition, weird), which includes N20 as a regularly accepted form of tuning and performance. From where I sit, your logic points more to the inclusion of N20, than anything else.

RyosukeFCDS
BUT as everyone in the real racing world knows, people who using nitrous systems never actually win a race, their times and races are invalid for lack of a better word.

???? :dunce:

What are you talking about? Drag racers win with Nitrous all the time.

98cobra
Yeah we need a supercharger option as well as a turbo option. Just adds more realism to the game.

Supercharger = Forces more air into engine
Turbo = Sucks more air into engine
N20 = Condenses oxygen (air) molecules so...guess what..yup..more air can get into the engine. They all do the same thing, but in different ways. I love how the vast majority of people on here would find superchargers acceptable, but not N20. That's media manipulation for ya.

You can't have superchargers and turbo's without N20. They are all lumped into a "power adder" category.

My problem with nitrous is that it turns the game into NFSU. Next people will ask for neons and heck GT3 already had rims in it which was completely useless. The series will slowly become more and more of an import tuner game (I know V8 drag racers do use it but come on the vast majority of applications are in civics with unpainted body kits) and less of the general all racing format that it has had for years. Basically what Im saying is i'm not so much worried about GT4 but what it might do to GT5.

_aj
Yeah I see your point after all I'm sure all the premier races around the world use it like umm ...... erm .... maybe ? ....hmm .....anyone wanna help me out here?

Here's the NHRA racing rules and regulations: http://www.jr333.com/nhrarules.htm

Here's a clip from it to save you time:

"1.6 NITROUS OXIDE

Commercially available nitrous oxide system prohibited on supercharged V-8 engine, permitted on all other engines. Nitrous bottles in driver compartment must be equipped with a relief valve and vented outside of driver's compartment. Bottles must be stamped with a DOT -1800 pound (124 bar) rating and permanently mounted (no hose clamps or tie wraps). Hoses from bottle(s) to solenoid must be high pressure steel braided or FIA permitted hoses. External heating of bottle(s) prohibited."

Famines not the onloy one who didn't vote, I'm leaning more towards the it shouldn't be in argument admittedly, but then I would say it should be in drag races and maybe only allowed in one or two series races, but it's use in GT4 should be very limited as it's use is very limited in real life motosport.

Now to my actual opinion about the origional question. Yes, I believe the N20 should be included in the drag mode ONLY. And ONLY if they can implement it properly. What do you guys/gals want from the GT series? You want just "another racing game", or do you want something that goes over and above in order to provide us with something that is a celebration of the automobile in all it's wonderful forms? That's what GT is you know..a celebration and love for things automotive. That's why photomode has been implemented...because people are enthusiastic about cars in general, not just winning a race.

Drag racing is in, because it's a legitimate part of automotive competition. N20 has it's valid place within that sport. You wouldn't exclude forced induction in drag racing would you? Of course not. Why in the world would you want to limit anything that is realistic, from being in a game that strives to be as realistic as it can manage? I'll tell you why: People have let the media dictate your opinions.

How many of you have actually driven a car with N20? I have, have you? Don't buy in to all the Hollywood crap. Don't use Joe Doe Dip**** down the street who has NOS stickers all over his honda and claims he smokes ferrari's with his eyes closed. Try to be open minded and realize that it's possible, you're buying into lame stereotypes.

Using N20 is not cheating, and it's NOT simple to use...especially if you're using a button operated dry kit. The wet kits are a bit better, but still. Depending upon how detailed tuning and driving skill becomes in drag mode, you could have your hands full...which I think everyone could enjoy at some level. Break out of the mold. I believe the majority who have posted so negatively about N20 actually know very little about it, and have even less real life experience with it.

Nope, when I have to sift through 10 pages of BS, I'm going to post a reply as I come to them.

50 shot pills and below (smaller) are quite acceptable on stock vehicles.

Damn ricer...

You DO remember the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, don't you?

Do you even know what a "ricer" is? How does the fact that less than a 50 shot won't blow up a stock motor equal that comment?

Whats That? No No I didn't have to look at that before I signed up. no just click the box. There can't possibly be rules, this is the internet everything is free!. :dunce: :)
