Been keeping track of quotes for a whole 2 days then?

Now, whilst I appreciate some members being pedantically emphatic about reminding us that NOS is a company whilst nitrous oxide is a chemical compound, I doubt if the thread starter intended for this to be a discussion of the brand of parts to feature in the game, because there aren't any. There are manufacturers and when you tune a car you buy parts from them, and you can buy rims from a different company, and that's about as far as we go. So do we start a thread for Momo, Magnetti Marelli, Shell, Bridgestone, HKS, Toyo and every other company that produces a part used in cars in the history of humanity? I don't think so. Would we even know unless told if we were using parts from a particular company? No.

Even if this thread was solely dedicated to the discussion of Nitrous Oxide Systems, do you want to guess what Nitrous Oxide Systems primarily produce? Come on, you can even have 3 chances if you want. Yes, they do make other car accessories, but their primary products are systems for the delivery of nitrous oxide. Surprising huh? So are we meant to just discuss the company featuring but without it's main product? Like say, Nissan appearing without any Skylines? And no, I'm not suggesting Skylines are all Nissan produces or all anyone would want to drive from the Nissan stables, but they are one of the star products, a fact underlined by the exhorbitant amount of variations that appear in each incarnation of the Gran Turismo series. Do we suggest Enkei should appear, but not their wheels? No. It's ludicrous.

The results of this poll are evidence enough to the negative connotations associated with nitrous oxide as it applies to racing. There are a large number of people out there who would cheer it's inclusion, and I'm not one of them. I'd loathe to see nitrous oxide (typing NOS is so much quicker but sadly I can't, I love when pedantic people make our world easier, they're just like lawyers) appear in Gran Turismo. Yes, they appear in Formula Palmer Audi, with 8 overboosts lasting 6 seconds each available to each car according to the site I read (http://www.ryanhooker-racing.co.uk/car.html), however there are innumerable things that appear in real life that are yet to feature in Gran Turismo, a vast majority of which I would rather see receive time and attention to be implemented before nitrous oxide. Next we'll have monster trucks, jet-engined dragsters, bog races, salt flat runs, parking tests and a myriad of other things. And hey, what's wrong with that? Be great fun for the niche market that actually enjoy those things right? Meanwhile the rest of us might just get exposed to some new and exciting form of motorsport to which we would have otherwise remained oblivious. Then we can all come back to GTP and ***** about how the AI sucks because they spent more time implementing realistic sinking effects in the mud than they did making the game fun.

Along side Famine's, Eagle's is probably one of the most sensible comments posted in this thread.

It seems a shame however that there are clearly so many people that are very narrow minded and follow suit far too quickly. As soon as they see nitrous oxide mentioned they start to cry and say No immediately. I laughed when Johnny said that GT4 shouldn't have nitrous oxide because it was a "Real Simulation".

I'm not fighting for it to be in GT4, i did vote yes however, but some people's attitudes are weird. Saying you won't buy the game if it includes NOS products never made sense to me.

Nitrous Oxide should be allowed, because its a real life engine tuning option, and is used not only for making your car hit light speed at the press of a button but also you can have it on as a slow release system so that if you are running a turbo car you can eliminate turbo lag. So yes it should be part of the GT game series, if you don’t like the idea of using Nitrous Oxide then simply DON'T!! :)

NOS doth sucketh the proverbial ass, so 'twould seem not appropriate for thine Gran Turismo 4. But in terms the newbies can understand, NO NO NO!!!!!

what the hell...r u alright mate?

I think the biggest problem with this argument is that 99% of people believe nitrous oxide is only used in street racing (this conjures up images of body kitted rice racer and Vin Diesel wearing a vest). It IS used on the race circuit, as has already been mentioned, but PD should only include it, should they wish to simulate those racing championships that make use of it. How they simulate successfully this is not my problem.

Also the NITROUS OXIDE system is always turned on, and is only activated when you reach a certain speed/RPM or if you floor it. It is not activated by pushing a little red button. If you set a system up like that, then when you hit the button the influx of NITROUS OXIDE into the engine would probably do it more harm than good. The NITROUS OXIDE needs to be added to the fuel/air mix at a steady pace and not like a shot gun going off in a porta-loo :) The only way to turn a NITROUS OXIDE system off would be to turn the canisters off by using the valve on the bottle itself.

Cheers

Jamie

NOS??? ...no thanks!! GT4 would be PERFECT without a NOS-System either!!!it only should be in games like NFS-Underground or Juiced but not in THE ONE AND ONLY "REAL DRIVING (and not tuning) SIMULATOR!!!

Maybe they'll produce a GT4: Ricer like they did concept, to take out NFSU2 ;)

I never used NOS in NFSU because I didn't feel it was real racing. I can see clear grounds for inclusion, but if they're going to include such a system, I'd rather they focus on a few other things that require attention first.

...a GODD driver doesn´t need NOS!!...but perhaps there´ll be a TUNED CARS-CUP in which u need to use NOS but don´t think so...:> :)

this is the most 'tarded thread ive ever read.

YES... because its the real driving sim and in real life i can go buy NO2 if i want to. If i want to.

So here's the smartie once again, ready to state his points about whether or not NOS should be in GT4.

If GT4 was an illegal street-racing game, it's a no-miss.
If GT4 was a drag racing game mostly featuring sport compacts and tuners, it's a no-miss.
If GT4 was a game where you can illegally modify cars so that even you can pimp out a Toyota GT-One with speakers and neons, then it's no miss.

But since GT4 will be a racing game that's about racing, it's a miss. Now, I've kind of "grown up" with the tuner and sport compact crowd, so don't think I'm a "musclehead." You're not going to see me call them "ricers." Anyways, I've seen a trend by some newcomers. A lot of them want style points in an otherwise no B-S racing game. So I keep hearing about rims and carbon fiber-hooded cars (and the poor fellow got OWNED). Expect a topic on me discussing small details in the future. My only problem is that, while GT4 is looking for some nice cars of all kinds- scouting and all, if a tuner or modified car makes it into GT4, will people throw their PS2 controllers down and wash their eyes out because they seen a tuner car? Will they be in the bathroom for minutes trying to shower and bathe themselves to see a car with a nitrous system? I wouldn't want NOS and here's why. I can understand that it can be fun to some people to have such machinery and such installations to the car. However, I don't think PD will intentionally want to have such a thing in the game. I think what I'm trying to say is that it is perfectly fine to love such cars and aftermarket parts thereof. A thing they have to realize, however, is that you won't be doing any club racing in GT4 by bringing a show car to a racing world. I was always curious as to how some featured performance compacts and non-American imports would do on the track (drag strip and road course). Like, take Top Secret's 1,000 hp Supra I heard about. That probably won't win Tsukuba. The HKS Altezza probably will. So when it comes to NOS, take out the "S" and you get my answer. Which is, no.

I'm sorry, NOS fans. I know you like it, but I don't think it will happen. Anyhow, I'm being soft and friendly about it instead of angry and sarcastic because that's just how I work over something like this. If this thread lasts, your replies, please?

nos sucks. i need real engineperformance no **** like nos or nx. so_ NO!
