I cut down a keyboard stand, inserted a 1x6 for a base, and added a 2x4 piece to help aid clamping the wheel. The bottom of the stand hooks onto two screws that are mounted to the under side of my couch. Cables have been extended and zip-tied to the stand to keep things clean.

I can setup or tear down in about one minute. Hooking to the couch keeps the wheel very stable while racing. The couch is very comfortable, but I’m still tweaking the cushion for my back, and adjusting the wheel position.

The pictures seem to exaggerate the distance and the glare. It's not bad in real life.

I reckon you could fit an F150 in that gap.

You should seriously think about getting a nice comfy folding chair so you can line it up directly in front of your tv as close as possible.
It doesn't even have to be a folding chair, it looks like there is enough room back where you store the wheel to place a small armchair when not in use.

Just got a Playseat Challenge and a G29. Totally different (and much better!) experience from using a pad. The seat is great and, more importantly for me, foldable. The G29 needs to be set to your driving taste. Out of the box with 900 degrees ratio for me was barely usable. Changed it to 360 and it's much, much better. After that, with just a few laps in I dropped my time in the Group 1 superlap by 1.5 secs with plenty of margin to improve if I have the time to do so ;-)

seriously dude, that’s way too far away surely? hell, I’d be binning it at every corner with having to squint my eyes so often

We're stuck with the default 900° G29 on the PS4 with no way of changing it. You can change it on a PC for a PC title but not on the console.

It's kind of nice to see how I started out with this setup. Which wasn't technically my first setup. Past two years I've been slowly redoing my sim rig. Now with my new setup, it's pretty overkill for GTSport or console gaming in general. But now I can dabble on the PC side of gaming and sim racing.

You know you can't actually change the settings when it's plugged into a PS4.

Sure, you can change it when hooked up to a PC, but once you connect to a PS4, the changes you made are null and void.

Just sayin'..................

In GT Sport and assetto corsa (PS4) you are right! The degrees settings in the PC Logitech settings panel don't work cause both games have the "autodor" system that changes automatically the degrees of rotation depending the car you are using.

For other games like Pcars, Pcars 2,Dirt Rally , Dirt Rally 2 and others the changes made on the Logitech panel works on the console, same thing with the Thrustmaster wheels btw.

One advantage of the Thrustmaster wheels nowadays is that you can change the degrees of rotation on the fly with an combination of buttons, something that Logitech got on the G25/27 wheels but took that option away on the G29.

In GT sport (and assetto) with an Thrustmaster wheel you have to put the rotation you want every single time you enter on track

Uhm no you don't on AC. The degrees of rotation your seeing is for your hands in the cockpit view. Has nothing to do with the wheel. I've had a Thrustmaster for 4 years and every game. All you have to do is hit left pad and L3 at same time. The light will flash on every press of both buttons from 5, 1080° to 1 180°

The virtual rotation option in the visual settings has nothing to do with the autodor system

Even if on a Thrustmaster wheel you put for example 360 degrees, when you take an other car the autodor system goes in and set the rotation matching the car rotation.

The virtual rotation option was disignd for the controller users,so they could slow down the hands in cockpit view.

The Devs from assetto recommend that players with a wheel sets the virtual rotation option in visual settings in "No" so it matches perfectly the rotation in-game and wheel due the autodor system.

You can perfectly try it out and will see

While the equipment hasn’t changed since I last posted, the setup has. TV is now mounted to the wall and doing so has now moved the TV right behind the wheel base. Shelf with consoles and games is now moved to my left side for easier access.

Hi,

Thought I would post some pics of ‘old faithful’ before it gets swapped for a Sim Lab GT1 Evo.

It originally started life as a SpeedSeat, before the modifications started.

Thrustmaster T300 RS GT x 2 (long story) but i have one permanently fitted with the Ferrari rim
T3pa pedals (modified spring / cone)
TH8a shifter
Bluetooth LED display
37” inch LG
Under frame lighting & Button boxes just to make it look pretty at night
Working digital12v volt meter with two USB ports for charging my phone & Ipad.

This is a photo from when I got it in late March. Eventually going to get a monitor stand with its own monitor so that it’s always set up to go. I currently move it to and from the front of our only tv, which makes it a little harder to play for just a couple of laps.

First steering wheel I’ve had since the non-force feedback one I had as a kid. And got the GT Omega Art as a birthday present from my fiancée!

i added in a Gteye spring for the brake, swapping the old brake into the throttle. Much more control but I think the throttle is now too firm to do my knee any good, so have the gteye throttle and clutch on the way to hopefully be a good midpoint between control and ergonomics!

I've been thinking about moving it closer but it's a 50 inch TV. Wouldn't that be too close?
I have a 47" TV and my pedals go underneath. TV is roughly in line with my ankles or shins.

Even with that, my calculated FOV would be 42°, tho (in AC) I play at 45° to get a bit more on the screen. You need to move closer for a wider ideal FOV - and if you're playing GTS, i understand that's set at around 70° (although there is conflicting info on that i think maybe that's bumpercam - not sure about cockpit view, I've read 55° but haven't done any validation)

Moving closer will only get you closer to the ideal FOV, you won't get near being too close i don't think.
I'd at least give it a try for 30 minutes and see how you get on. Personally i much prefer being that close, it feels more natural as well as immersive.
