Shuffle Racing

its nice because you dont get one person that has a super fast car thats tuned perfectly and is an amazing drive that beats everyone. shuffle is more even
True, it really shows who the better drivers are.

You mean LMFAO ;)

I love shuffle races too. But as every other feature, there's an amount of luck in it too. Some of the cars are just better, which gives some people an advantage over others, where you just wanted a close and clean race.

On of the good things about shuffle races is the slipstreaming that's not too powerful like when you drive LMPs at La Sarthe etc...

Shuffle racing is the only option you have if you want to race on anything other than Racing Softs.

It's great fun to get a crap car for winning the last race and still coming in 2nd or something,

One thing I find interesting about shuffle is that it forces you to adapt to different styles of cars, and get to know their strong/weak points. In one race you can be the lucky guy driving a premium audi tt, and in the next one having to take the most of a dodge ram.

There wouldn't be a need for shuffle races if they'd just do multiplayer seasonal events with matchmaking. :dunce:

Shuffle racing is no-frills, dive straight in, no worries racing. If I just want a quick quick races I always go for the shuffle rooms. Just go online and race, no more to it. Lubbly Jubbly :)

I finally won my first online race doing a shuffle. As stated prior, it really evens things out and equalizes the experts with perfectly tuned cars.
I've raced online many times, bouncing from room to room trying to find a place where I can be competitive, and the shuffle rooms I can hang there for hours. Tons of fun. Instead of putting the focus on tuned cars, it puts the focus on the DRIVER!
A few more options would be nice.

Tried Shuffle Racing for the first time yesterday and it was a blast!
Hours went by like minutes. 👍
I do have a question where I cannot find a decisive anwser to in the search of Google:
Some people say shuffle ratio set to high (10) means that the winner of the last race gets the slowest car, others say it increases the number off possible/other cars.

What exactly is the differents between shuffle ratio put to 10 and put to 0?
Am I correct in thinking that putting shuffle ratio to 0 and working with a reverse grid ( no boost) will make everything as equal as can be? (As the fastest driver will start last but the cars will be pretty equal?)
And when shuffle ratio is set to 10 the differents between the fastest and slowest car is the greatest?

Thanks for your time and if you havent tried shufflling, go for it!

I love it, the racing is usually clean and very close from what i`ve experienced and the races usually start without much delay between each one, could do with 2-3 classes as mentioned earlier though.

Correct.

I prefer shuffle ratio on 1 or 2 as it adds more variety in cars and helps the slower drivers by giving them faster cars. Difference in car speed won't be huge but very noticable. Anything higher is pretty useless though.

It seems depending on the shuffle ratio chosen, it chooses a different list of cars (all around very similar specifications though, none seem to go over 300bhp, excluding the offroad shuffle carlist)

Either way, shuffle racing i think is the easiest and purest way to appreciate and enjoy Gran Turismo, its not about the super-quick race cars or millionare riches supercars, its about all the cars that you'd see normally, letting you have the chance to drive them the way you want to with others and have a great time. There are reasons why such Kei cars and hatchbacks are included, and its for the variety of all the cars in the GT series and its what makes it really stand out as a driving/racing sim :)

what's shuffle racing?:dunce:

...the shiz'nit?

Basically it's an online mode where you are given a random [low hp] car in your first race and in subsequent races you are given a car based on your performance. Finish last, get a better car, finish first get a worse car. I'm not entirely sure if it is based wholly on where you finish absolutely in the race or rather where you finish relative to your starting position.

You also get a reverse grid, so your starting position on the grid is the reverse of where you finished (new room entrants automatically start at the front).

However, what the technicalities don't describe is the fact that the rooms tend to put a a greater emphasis on the actual racing rather than the car or your finishing position.

Great fun and usually really inclusive.

So yeah...

Great racing with you Cobani. :)

Probably the best under used part of gt5. Although I think the intrest will pick up now.👍

Exactly. Its amazing. The servers are too rare. Maybe GTPlanet needs a shuffle racing "league" or something

shuffle race and boost on full is hilariously fun!

Boost is a no go for me. It's included anyway when off but called "ridiculous drafting" ;)

Agreed, no boost with shuffle ratio set to 1, gives you great close racing. Because of the low hp, I tend to favour the shorter, twistier tracks.
It is so much fun to go into the braking zone side by side, only to have the inside driver slightly overshoot the apex so you can cut through the inside. You gotta love the long braking zones caused by the tires.
As said before, the emphasis is on the driver and his/her ability to race and use that racecraft to outsmart the other driver, not outperform it with superior cars or setup.

Changing the shuffle ratio changes the progression of cars that are selected as the room goes from race to race. People seem to think that there's a handicap difference that changes with the shuffle ratio, but that isn't really true. The shuffle ratio is there so that each day you run shuffle races, you can use a different ratio that will make different cars pop up in the first few races. If you run a shuffle room for a very long time, I don't think there would be any real difference between shuffle ratios.

That the first place driver gets extra penalized for a higher shuffle ratio is a myth. It might seem that way in the short term, but it doesn't stay that way.

SO: Can I asume that with the shuffle ratio set higher, the game has a greater library of cars available to choose from each race? Thus increasing the chance of getting a more varied pack on the grid, because the performance differences of the cars will be more severe.
(example)
Shuffle ratio=0 will choose from 25 cars which are all very evenly matched.
Shuffle ratio=10 will choose from 98 cars, with the inevitable fact that the differences between the spectrum of the cars will be greater.

That would explain why people might think that they get penalized with a slower car, when in fact the just have a greater change of getting a slower car because of the extented library the games chooses from.

OR: Does each Shuffle Ratio number stand for a specific group of cars which is pre-determended by PD and only adds variety.

Ratio is the difference between cars after a win. I.e. if you win with a ratio of 1, the next car you get will have a minor handicap. With a ratio of 10, the handicap would be much greater.

At least that's what I've found so far.

Truffle Shuffle ftw!

they could bring back the A, B, and C class system from previous GT games. That would make the most sense and be super fun.

Totally agreed.

I agree, Shuffle Racing has proved to be my favourite type of online racing and one I only do nowadays as I'm far too uncompetitive in PP Restricted Races.

yea i have a hard time finding good full rooms

Yes, the shuffle race is great, but should include more options... like what it was already said, selecting the car average power.

I enjoy the suffle racing, although, it is not random.

I always get the same sequence of cars. Peugot 205 is not driveable. Some cars are destined to win on a certain track. Ramming should cause penalties for both cars. and a big shout out of anger face, to those who proclaim "Clean race only" and ram you from the side, in a straight line head to head race to the finish. Damn you to hell.

I love shuffling, and ran a lot of races in many rooms this past weekend. I think the ramming is mostly limited to a few problem children. The biggest issue I see is (same as regular races) people trying to win the race on the first turn. If I'm at the end of the pack, I stay back and wait for the noobs to overshoot the turn. Too many try to ram their way through.
