Shuffle Racing

I love "The Shuffle" but it does get boring with the cars they provide and no additional event changes. GT5 already has a class system in place that they could use for Shuffle, "British Lightweights, German hatchbacks, GT, F1, and so on". Not to far from what is offered in the Seasonal s, but let us choose the tyres and regulations and tracks.

Just my opinion.

Shuffle racing is sort of like a "claiming" division in Sat night stock car racing. For instance, a $500 engine claim means that if you win a race and the guy who finished third thinks you have an illegal engine, he can "claim" it for $500 and you have to sell it to him. When the engine is not worth $250, and you win with it, doubt anyone will want to "buy" it. Same with this shuffle racing. It is meant to be slow and close. Use a fender, bumper, etc. It really is a lot of fun on a about any track with a field of 10 or 12 cars. With upper level PP cars, I think the purpose of the "shuffle" would be moot. It is more of a run-what-you-brung sort of racing.

I love shuffling, and ran a lot of races in many rooms this past weekend. I think the ramming is mostly limited to a few problem children. The biggest issue I see is (same as regular races) people trying to win the race on the first turn. If I'm at the end of the pack, I stay back and wait for the noobs to overshoot the turn. Too many try to ram their way through.

That sort of thing needs to be agreed upon prior to the start. For me, in a shuffle race, I do not mind beating and banging. I am not talking about intentional wrecks, but I am talking about very relaxed rules. Yes, there are going to be wrecks and cars getting rear ended into to turns, etc., but I like that sort of thing from time to time. But we agree on it ahead of time. "Dirty Shuffle"

I would like to see online single make/model races. Showroom stock. Car is set to the defaults that it came with when purchased or awarded. Only thing changed can be paint and transmission type. Auto or manual but no upgrades. No tire changes, no nothing.

Everyday i'm shuffling
Lol

The fastest car is only a NSX'91,and there are at least two premium cars,NSX and307

I wish you could search for shuffle racing I can never find a race.

I wish you could search for shuffle racing I can never find a race.

Quickest way to find one is to just scroll down the list and look for the orange "SHUFFLE". I usually narrow the search for "Racing for Fun" or whatever the notation is. Usually "racing for real" won't include a shuffle race.

You can do this^^

Follow these steps:

Lobby>Restrictions>open Garage>select vehicle(s)>add other restrictions (Tyres, penalties, assists, ect)>select car with color>race!

Be sure to name your lobby "One-make" or something similar to tell people beforehand.

Shuffle Racing is epic fun.
Teaches you trading paint (normally the cars are equal) and getting to know your car quick.
The thing with the Handicap-quotient is not getting in to my Head.
If set to 0 I sometimes get a Alfa Romea Giulia and others get a Hyundai HCD6 or any other killer Car and if set to a higher value the same happens.
So how does this work ?
Did PD explain this explicit ?? Or is this the shuffle in the shuffle ??

There wouldn't be a need for shuffle races if they'd just do multiplayer seasonal events with matchmaking. :dunce:

No, Forza 3 did matchmaking rather than custom lobbies and that just killed the entire online for me. It's hard to deny that the online setup of forza 2 was awesome and was totally destroyed with forza 3's 'matchmaking system'.

Matchmaking is the devil for racing games, it works well on cod and shooters but should NEVER be implemented in a racing game.

Thanks man never knew about the orange icon. I have been looking for the title of the room shuffle and only found it a couple of times.

I just won my first online race, which was a shuffle. It was a one lap race and I started in first though.

Tried some shuffle racing for the first time yesterday and I found it to be great fun.
Especially the 'Ring races were epic and very close without getting too dirty.
Also the fact that everyone is bound to Comfort Softs adds to the fun. In most regular race lobbies everyone is on Race Softs because most of the time there is no tire restriction.

Shuffle races at the 'Ring are the best, almost all the shuffle races i had there everyone stayed together for the entire race

Laguna seca however, sucks. Especially when you get the not-so-good cars like the kompressor, or the old quattro...

It's also great to discover cars that you've never driven before. Thanks to the shuffle races I now know that the Altezza 200 is a pretty fun drifting machine on its Comfort Softs :)

Shuffle racing is by far the best thing to do online. Really competitive close racing in good rooms that you can hang in for hours. Allows you to learn the tracks well and the variety of cars means you have to adapt quickly to whatever you're dumped in. It does really need an expansion though, with different classes that that host can select, just to keep it interesting and not always so slow, not that that's always a bad thing :P

+1 for the Shuffle. It's about driving, not about tuning and using power to mask your mistakes. :)

Shuffle races are mad fun but in some instances I get questionable cars. Once I got the Audi TT 2003 Coupe for 3 straight races, but all had different engines and one was premium. Another time I get stuck with the Gullwing 1956 Mercedes while my opponent got a 1999 Elise at Cote D'Azur. Needless to say my opponent didn't like losing that race.

I love shuffle races but I hate the shuffle ratio option. Anyone agree?

I love it too, but what is the ratio?

Shuffle racing and same car racing is the only way to have good online racing IMO.

And there are premium cars in shuffle mode, just not as often as standards. But there should be an option to choose how fast the cars are, some of those cars are just painful to drive.

I can't stand those open rooms where everyone has random cars. Race cars vs road cars and whatnot how is that fun?

And even with shuffle racing/same car racing its pretty hard to find clean racers..........

wow so much complaining! shuffle is just simply fun! finally GT5 gives me some FUN and COMPETITIVE races. In real racing sometimes you are in a slower car and its just the way it is, you do the best you can. I get great satisfaction by taking a rubbish car and finishing 3rd or 5h against superior machines....and then i wait for the good car to come and when it does...BAM lol

Just pure FUN

To be fair, shuffle racing has received quite the overhaul since all of these posts. I had many similar complaints about shuffle racing myself, even if I did enjoy it. Also, wow, totally bringing this thread back from the dead.

I think they just need to add some more tiers
Shuffle 1 - 200 bhp
Shuffle 2 - 400 bhp
Shuffle 3 - 600 bhp etc

Room owner just chooses what tier to race.

There is no sense in limiting the shuffle race with horse power. What do you think a 400 bhp muscle car would be able to compete against a 400 bhp sports car?

Limit it by power points, which makes more sense for competition.

The last update really made me enjoy shuffle racing again, and since my wheel is broken I was very happy 2.0 made PAD more enjoyable now:)
Thanks to ADE for som good hosting:tup: will see you tonight.

Shuffle racing is cool, however some of the cars are just not equal.

I was on the Nurb yesterday and was given a the premium cobra and another guy had the R35 GTR.

On sports hard with tirewear on was just killer for me, no chance I could compete!!! (saying that I am very average tho) but still, give the taht GTR any day of the week

I believe they added a feature that allows you to change the "range" of the random cars. So, the person who hosted your lobby might have picked a larger range, allowing a lot of different cars in, as opposed to a more narrow range that would have allowed for a more even playing field.

Had the same thing on Cape Ring last night, Poeli (sorry can't remember what the rest of your name is :)) was having to cope with an F40, while I wasn't even driving my V-Spec at 50% yet was begining to leave everyone behind, that said the race was a bit messy for various reasons. I've seen people getting the Cobra multiple times in a row...

Will be there too :)

I've had my first shuffle yesterday, called no rules shuffle.
My first thought was "WTF!?" ... lots of ramming, spinning, breaking in the trunk of the cars in front and taking shortcuts and so on...

That's not my style and therefore I tried to stay clean & fair as good as possible.^^ However it was quite funny and after the host had changed and some rules have been applied, I was able to do three clean races and win my first online race in GT5 (won two races @ Monza and got 3rd in Monaco). :)

Wouldn't have thought online racing can be so much fun. Will try it more often in future. 👍
