streetsucka204hey is there really a hp limit in japan or something??? if there is can someone explain???
FamineThe "Gentleman's Agreement" is just that - there is no governmental involvement.
They all say that their new car produces 276hp at the crank. The Supra never bothered and had 326hp anyway. The Skylines haven't been in the 270s since the R32. The GTO is up around 300. The latest raft of Imprezas are in the 300s (with the WR1 and SpecC both having 320). The Evos have just been taking the piss for years - they have versions in the UK called the FQ-330, FQ-360 and FQ-400 - the numbers being the power rating.
FamineIn the early 1990s, to avoid a costly power-race, the major Japanese manufacturers agreed with each other not to produce a car with more than 280PS (276hp). It is commonly referred to as "The Gentleman's Agreement". It has no basis in legislation. It's also largely ignored:
Thanks for answering my question 👍 (even though i have'nt replied. i was just thinking)
I was wandering why all the Japenese 90's cars had 276hp
VTGT07Correct.
The 385hp versions were the 2001 and 2002 model year. The 405hp versions were the 2003 (50th Anniversary Edition) and 2004 model year.
icandriftbetterwasnt this a forum for just what types of skylines you have and which you like best?

FAOLIU05lmao this is getting no where! That particular Z06 you've described there isn't the 2004 Z06, thats the $65,000 2006 Z06. It hasn't even hit the market yet. The Corvette I compared to the Skyline was a 385hp, 3,200lb sportscar.![]()
VTGT07Can we just drop the whole discussion from earlier? It was a huge tangent and is better off forgotten.
VTGT07Weight distribution .. I didn't even know that was an option. The only thing that comes to mind is messing with the VCD (Variable Center Differential) which controls the front/rear power ratio.
