@TEX36 @BayouSimDrifter @DVD @Kgffy @Tecticles @whatbadgerseat @jaybocc2 @CoachMK21

if anyone else has a good fast connection and wants to host.
Me thinks, that maybe @Kgffy can be the scorekeeper?

Please get very familiar with the qualification procedure. I will get the room set up by 0900 EST .

This is the 1st time that some of us will be racing together, and quite a reunion for some of us 'vet Snails'. Defend your position but hold your line. Race hard, Race Clean, Race Snail!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT from SNAIL BoD

As a continuing effort by the BoD to streamline our procedures to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience racing SNAIL we are introducing the following Qualification Rules effective immediately.

These rules should be followed on Thursday night during official practice so we can test and adjust where necessary.

New Qually Rules

Upon entering prior to the first race of the night or upon having the room reset before the first race of the next combo, immediately drive to a spot beyond turn one that is well off the racing line and line up single file. The host will remain on pit road during this time.

Once the driver count has been verified, the host will give instructions to start qualifying and leave pit road to join in at the back of the line. Drivers should give 5 seconds between the driver in front of them leaving and when they start. Drivers should always keep an eye on the map. Do not take-off if another driver is approaching from behind on his hot lap.

Qually is not the race. If you get caught from behind on qually be kind enough not to block. Leave room for the driver to pass.

All drivers will complete an out lap and one hot lap for qualifying.

If, at any time during the out lap or the hot lap, a driver leaves the racing surface for any reason, they are to pull completely off the track and out of the way and wait for the qualifying session to end. They are not to attempt to re-enter the track for any reason.

Once drivers have completed their hot lap, they are to stop on the track far enough past the start finish line as to not be a distraction to anyone finishing a lap.

Once the host has completed his hot lap, he will check that no non-members have entered (kick as necessary) and start the race.

This can be modified for shorter tracks or to change from 5 seconds if deemed necessary.

Failure to comply with Qually Rules will result in a disqualification for that specific race.

Replay Save and Uploading Process
Immediately after a race, save it to the GT Sport cloud and then share to all. The naming convention in the first tag button is important so we can search for it. The name of the file (which is optional) should be the room name

Example: For Division 5 Round 1 Race 2 or would be:
Tag#1: 20171029D5R1R2 to indicate the date, division, round and race (The Tag# doesn't allow spaces, capitals or special characters)

The Name: SNAILRACING.ORG D5R1R2
Comment can be: October 29, 2017

For the first combo:
1. As always, the host opens the room at 9:00 PM Eastern and as the drivers come in they can enter the track to make sure there are no connection issues.
2. At around 9:29 the Div Manager/Host call on all the drivers to do an outlap (Typer enters "Proceed to Last Corner") and stop before the last corner before the start/finish straight (This is to have reasonably warm tires available at the qually start)
3. After everubody is there, the typer will enter the message "Qually Starts" (Host take note of the time stamp, or run his own stop watch or something)
4. Drivers space themselves out a bit and start their hot laps.
5. After 5 minutes the host starts the race. (If there are late comers, they will still get in, but they will automatically start at the back if they can't get a hot lap in)
6. Scorekeeper, please take note of the fastest qually time and enter the time in the score sheet

For the Second and third combos:
1. Host change room settings
2. Everybody enters the track and immediately proceeds to the last corner (Typer enters "Proceed to last corner")
3. When everybody is there, typer enters "Qually Start". (Host take note of the time stamp, or run his own stop watch or something)
4. Drivers space themselves out a bit and do their hot laps
5. After 6 minutes for the Porsche or 5 min for the Ferrari, the host starts the race.
6. Scorekeeper, please take note of the fastest qually time and enter the time in the score sheet

With the first Combo there will be about 5, maybe 6 laps available, so there is enough time to get a hot lap in
With the Prosche there is an extra minute, so you easily get two hot laps
With the Ferrari the second hot lap might be a little tight, so don't defend your position if you made a mistake - please let a faster car through without impeding him.

I will most likely not be there tonight as will have friends over catching up on MotoGP/WSBK

not sure why is not working... it goes through the sequence and then it puts me back to the lobby... trying again..

if it fails again... we need a back up host ASAP. ok Ill restart. .stgand by

someone @Jaybocc...@Bayou can you join party chat
?

First night of GTS Snail racing seemed to go smoothly - except for our driving errors (grass gets me sideways every time)

Thanks for getting it going @Wolfsatz - I'm sure Qually will get better as we learn the process.

Sure hope I didn't cause any problems for anyone. Let me know if I did.

Hey Guys... a couple of things during qually and with the same effect during racing (lapped cars).

If you make a mistake during qually and someone catches up to you, you should not be 'racing' at that time, the gentlemanly thing to do is to get out of the racing line. Same concept applies to lapped cars. It is not very frequent that there are combos that allows for lapped cars but the car to be lapped is also supposed to get out of the racing line as to not affect the outcome of the 1st, 2nd, etc. Blue Flag!

Not related .. some eye candy !

Thursday practice is usually hosted by RacingChamp. It is not done per division, Thursday is an all Family affair. Quite fun too.
However, if you are practicing over the weekend, I can join you and try to get there many racers. If there is a need for a 2nd room on Thursday, then go for it.

I was just thinking to see if everyone in our division has a good connection. I figured there would be several rooms since there are 40 drivers across the divisions currently.

We'll see Thursday how many show up. it always up and down on Thursdays... but having someone on stand by to open a 2nd room if needed is always good... Just not always needed. At the peak .. we had 3 practice rooms open. Blue / Red and Yellow... for more chilled craftsmanship practice; we would throw yellow flags to bring the pack together.
