Good evening to everyone who will be attending tonight's event #6 of our inaugural Gr3 series for SNAIL Friday Night Racing. We now take the series to the second of our 3 events in North America. We currently have 13 drivers confirmed to race tonight with no reserves. If you would like to race, a spot is still available to claim.
ALL drivers on the main race room grid should submit their spec sheets to my PSN: NOVA-0479 between the time that the room opens at 9pm est and the start of qualifying at 9:15pm est. (Drivers that were in the Pre-Qualifying session should submit these spec sheets again to the group psn or my psn before qualifying begins at 9:15pm est)
I'd ask all drivers to make sure they are running a wired connection in any way possible and to clear their network cache before entering the race room to avoid any issues. It seems the online lobbies run based on the slowest running system and/or internet speed in the room....basically throttles everyone down which appears to cause the instability we have experienced in the past. Let's try to head off any of these issues and optimize everything on our own ends that we can to help. For those with faster internet service speeds (over 200mbps+), it seems there are less issues with stability. For those on slower internet speeds or forced to run wirelessly, their network appears to be affected more when other in the household are online and pulling from the service speed. See this link to optimize your network priority for the gaming, and try to reduce internet usage (if possible) elsewhere in the house when racing.
Gran Turismo 7, it seems, follows in the fine traditions of GT Sport, GT6, GT5, and even GT5P in being a bit sensitive to network environments. A connection that's fine one day (or hour) might be ropey the next, and while there's a lot of things that might be out of your control, the best way to...

Reminder to all drivers:
The first 16 confirmed drivers are holding 1 of 16 guaranteed grid spots. Any additonal confrimed drivers are Reserve Drivers to bump in with priority based on order of confirmation. Please notify me as soon as reasonably possible if you are unable to make the event. The latest acceptable notice without any recourse is 9:10pm est.
Drivers Briefing
A few reminders for Watkins Glen LC:
1.) Be mindful in the opening laps. Be patient, and avoid contact/incident at all cost. Incidents that result in an issued caution, in the opening 2 laps, will come under automatic review for any possible infractions and penalized as necessary. Please be patient, brake earlier, and respect your opponent driver's space/line...they are not brakes or guard rails.
2.) Tight Sections and Chicanes: There is no written rule for these sections, but I'd ask all drivers to exercise caution and good judgement through these sections. Know when you have lost the position when approaching these sections, and be considerate enough to back out to avoid the risk of incidents. This series will continue to induce some very close quarters racing, and one slow up, or mistake could result in yourself, both, or many drivers losing position....don't be that guy. If both drivers are dead on, side by side, proceed with caution, and hold your lines. Just be warned that attempting to go side by side in these sections cleanly will slow both of you down and almost guarantee a loss of position(s) from other attacking drivers. BE CAREFUL and AVOID CONTACT.

-Clear cache before entering the race room Lets try to do the best we can to reduce the jitters within the lobby.
Any drivers that are noted or noticed to create continuous issues will be asked to retire for the event.

Event #6 / Race #1 Recap
Preamble:
To upstate New York we go for the final stop in the U.S. for this season. Since my participation began (2023), Watkins Glen has always featured on the schedule. The track has got it all, long straights, elevation changes, long sweeping and short tight turns and of course the Bus-Stop.
A big welcome to @MichelQC21 who is making his SNAIL Friday Series debut. And to @VoidChevalier who previously took part in the qualifying session at Event #4 - Mount Panorama but his car wouldn't make it to the starting line at that time. So Watkins Glen is his first live action.
Qualifying Table:
Qualifying was faster than I anticipated. I figured if I can put down a 1:44.3xx I should find myself on the 2nd row but I was wrong. The Pole Bonus is claimed by @Kgffy with a 1:44.024 which bests @bublyman's 1:44.062 by a mere 0.038.
LAP #1:
It's Lights-Out from upstate New York. @Kgffy and @bublyman will lead the grid to Turn 1.
LAP #1:
Close call early on. The first pass through the Bus-Stop proved trickly for @JakeMk8. Perhaps a missed braking point led him to swerve to avoid other cars. A huge collision between himself and @JDMKING13 is narrowly avoided.
LAP #4 - Lead Change: @DublDee, still in 3rd place, gets a good view of @Kgffy going too deep into the toe of the boot which opens the door for @bublyman to take the lead.
LAP #7: @llNovall's Viper is perfectly placed, eating all the curbs on the exit of the Bus-Stop on LAP#7 from the 7th spot. @JDMKING13 in 8th and @VoidChevalier in 9th follow.
LAP #8: @VoidChevalier was getting his first taste of the Friday Night action for a bit but came in hard behind @JDMKING13 but does well by taking himself off and avoiding an incident.
LAP #10:
As we flip from LAP #9 to LAP #10, we're getting some Corvette on Corvette action. @DublDee thinks @socalnatv is in his back seat. Somewhat cool how these cars seem perfectly aligned.
LAP #10:
Moments later at the Bus-Stop, it's a bad spin for @DublDee that looks like it came out of nowhere.
Rewinding a little bit and taking a closer look at what might have caused @DublDee spin at the Bus-Stop of LAP #10.
It's possible that he'd say he got caught looking in his rearview mirror, or just went through the Bus-Stop a little too aggressively, things we're all guilty of from time to time. But my lenses might have picked up on a small detail. It appears there's a few inches of asphalt on the outside of the white line...until there isn't. It does seem like @DublDee left tires touches grass where the asphalt suddenly ends. Could this have caused the car to become unstable at a less than idea time?
@DublDee fought for control for quite some time before heading into the wall. I was a few seconds back at the time and not aware of what had happened. I recall zipping through the Outer Loop and passing a cloud of smoke and only several seconds later on a straight looking at the Race Info and realizing that might have been @DublDee.

LAP #11: @Kgffy has been involved in some battles and perhaps this took a toll on his tires. He's on Mediums, and his front left is down to about 50% good so he opted for the pits for some fresh rubber.
LAP #13:
This one might be a candidate for 'Battle of the Season' and it lasted a few Laps. @CdnSweetTee and @VoidChevalier had a tremendous battle from the 10th and 11th spot. They traded paint and certainly had contact but it's entertaining, and worthwhile to watch.
LAP #16:
Another good battle brewing between @JDMKING13 and @llNovall who are currently in 5th and 6th place.
LAP #18:
And the Viper vs Viper action between @Kgffy (and fresh Medium rubber) and Friday Series newcomer @MichelQC21 has also been insane for a couple Laps. Pictured below is them going door-to-door with 1 Turn to go in the race.
You're not finding that kind of action in any other Series.
Ironically, @llNovall's Viper is also in the picture a few seconds ahead.
LAP #18:
If I can't locate the 2nd place car in the winner's official picture, it's a dominant win. This is @bublyman's 3rd win of the season (Suzuka/Fuji) and there was very little doubt about it once he took the lead back on LAP#4. @bublyman will be joined by @socalnatv and @Bologna_Duc on the podium.
The Fastest Lap Bonus goes to @Kgffy with a ridiculous 1:43.426 which bests @bublyman's 1:44.009 by almost 6/10 of a second and has many in the paddock asking race stewards for a check on specs.

We were less than the ideal 16 cars for this one but the battles were fierce, mostly at the last half of the race. I hope the Broadcast I captured do them all justice.

Many of my recruits that appreciate Snail Racing League tend to dip their toes in the Friday Series (see @Crunchy Taco / @Smithy 1989 / @VoidChevalier / @MichelQC21), let's not hesitate to head over to the SPEC League from time to time to offer support.

Another great race night in our Gr3 V8+ Supercars with 12 drivers on the grid. The lap times and racing were close across the grid for both races. I had two very challenging races that decribing could take up a wholeforum page, so I will spare everyone by saying Race 1 was a huge defensive effort against Niagara and then a maximum chase effort of JDM that I couldn' close on. Race 2 was a strong start, that turned into a familiar chase story of "The Fox and the Hounds"...it took every ounces of defense I knew how to deploy to keep th majority of attackers at bay even though one slipped through. Great racing to everyone I had a tussle with for Event #6. There are plenty of other points/battles in these races to highlight, so take a look at the replays...always worth the watch.
Race broadcasts will be made available for viewing, but you can also view the actual in-game replays through the search tag: snailv8sc. Feel free to elaborate on any battle/exchanges you may have shared.
Overall, it was a great night of racing.
Minimal lag/jittering was present across the field, but was overall manageable.

Driver Standings Recognition
Drivers will be encouraged, not required, to display their current driver standing going into each event after Event #1, though there will be a few rules and requirements.
Drivers who are interested in diplaying their current standing, should collect the following green digital numbers 0-9.
After scoring is finalized and Post Race report issued, drivers will be cleared to edit their driver standing on their number board along with any award tags. Drivers should apply their Standing on both side's boards and be sure their number is in line with their actual standing in the Championship.

Rules and requirements:
To maintain accuracy and integrity to this recognition, drivers who choose to add their standing to their car will be required to submit an updated profile picture before each event with their scrutineering tuning sheet. Submissions will be reviewed post event just as I do for the driver regulations.
If a driver forgets to submit the car picture with a standing displayed or has the wrong standing placement displayed , it will result in a 5 point penalty against the overall event score. This has to be in place to ensure that those who want to display their standing, maintains the attention and accuracy for it to be credible.
If choosing to display, be sure your edited livery is correct, accurate, and saved prior to each event. If unsure or not interested in displaying your standing, simply leave it blank or just apply double zeros.
The profile pictures will not be used for the Driver profile page, only for scrutineering to maintain the integrity of this recognition.
Again, this is optional, but if done correctly, it will be a great way to know who is where in the standings as the season unfolds.
(Light yellow shaded boxed scores are not eligible as drop scores as a result of issued penalties)

Below are the details for Event #7 at Guilles-Villeneuve on August 14, 2026. Drivers are encouraged and reminded to confirm their attendance status as soon as possible to secure their spot on the grid for race night. Please see the Confimation and grid priority rules in the Spoiler tab below.
Driver Confirmation and Grid Priority Rules *Grid priority is on a first come, first serve based upon each driver's confirmation to attend each event.

Track Map and Boundaries
Keep 2 wheels on or within the white line where curbing is not present, or on the curbs where they are present at all times, except where it is specifically noted otherwise. The white line and curbing is considered legal track surface. Failure to comply to track boundaries could result in penalties if infractions are witnessed and reported.
