I knew it I knew it I knew it. Updates up the yang.
 
I had the same problems as everyone else so decided to do the 8gb install after the install (20 min) got a message saying " the servers are undergoing maintainance" clicked ok and voila ! straight into the game...PHEWWWWWW.
(my ethernet cable is still plugged in btw)
 
So we can now transfer data from GT5P to GT5.

As for the online update. Only took 2mins to download and install but I do have a quick connection.

It would appear that updates are not, "up the yang" as you put it, it's only when you try and go online the day before the game is officially released that you get problems, perfectly reasonable.
 
must be nice. waking up and being able to play gt5 that is
 
Downloading 133MB takes over an hour on my PS3. It's even on DMZ, still slow.

I don't think we're in a position to confirm that for sure yet; it may well be the case and would make sense, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if there are still problems.

EDIT: Sorry, I've read other posts now and you are right, it is because the servers aren't up yet. My mistake!

A few little tips for you all.

As we can't connect to the servers at the moment if you select GT mode or arcade then stay in there. If you back out to the main menu it will try and connect to the servers again which seems to take ages. Im not even trying the options menu just yet for the same reason.

Also when installing to your HDD do not cancel or quit out because you think its stopped. Mine was stuck on 45secs for ages and then again at 3secs. Also when installation was complete it was stuck on the GT5 logo for ages.

Just wanted to say this because some might become impatient and try and reinstall when you don't have to.

It is only an issue on the Main menu, but it's hardly surprising if it's trying to connect to a server that isn't on-line.

A figure of speech. The people that got their copies early didn't report on any up dates or data transfer. Now that there's a software update for the game and the severs. We'll see a lot more posts coming up about what changed.

yeah guys, just disable your internet connection in your ps3 network settings until the servers are up, I did that and there's no problems.

anyone know if you can update GT5 with the PC download - storage media, like for the PS3 system updates? I guess not since I have never seen this option in any of my other PS3 games.
 
i feel that tomorrow PD servers are going to melt...

Bah, single player will be operational, plenty there to get things started until the servers settle down. :)

I beg pardon, but this update download it's only for online gaming or for offline too? And, do you know if will be possible make the download, for example, next week, avoiding dowload crowding? Mirko.
 
I dont think you'll need to do it next week, just do it before you go to eat or something. 130mb shouldn't take long. Leave it on when you go to the pub or something :)

Only thing I have found is to transfer from psp. No sign of a prologue transfer :grumpy:
 
Just did the 133mb patch, it took 3mins. the preloading of track data is stuck at 20mins?
 
i wouldnt even try and do anything online till at least thursday..lol

between now and then the servers are going to get hammered with people trying to update..
 
the online mode works for me now ^^

Here too. Install is progressing, but the timer says 20 mins.

I just faced a bug ... i was testing a car in Practice Mode - free run and using a steering wheel. Suddenly the screen went blank and time started running very fast (the HUD was still visible, but not the track or the car). Few seconds later i got a trophy "111 miles in a second". Then i had to quit the game and start it again, that's when the update popped up.

Doesn't the PS3 firmware have a youtube upload feature as is?
If so, does GT5 at least have a replay export function that outputs proper videos for it?

Where have you ever seen a youtube uploader in the XMB? I sure havent seen one.
