japanese car manufacturers have a gentlemen's agreement to limit all production cars to 280mph. however i know for a fact that some like the R34 are way faster than that.

i work w/ the lads over at Motorex and have had a chance to check out the skylines that have rolled through there. very nice.

one of the best motoring videos had a battle between a 996 Turbo, 360 Modena, Corvette Z51, Skyline GT-R V spec II, Lancer EVO VII, NSX Type S and the corvette got it's ass kicked. fast but the japanese and euro car best the pants off of the corvette thru the curves.

yep i stand corrected. 280hp limitations. hehe. looks like the skyline vs. corvette thread is starting.

man, when i first got out of college, i could have gotten a corvette for 10% below factory cost because my mom worked for subsidiary of GM. i turned it down because i couldn't afford the insurance and all the other costs that came w/ owning that thing plus i had find a job and make some money. damn what a stupid move.

coulda bought it and sold that thing for a nice profit.

Not necessarily. When an item is purchased at a special "accomadation" price, there is usually a clause stating that you may not sell the item for one year (or whatever time period).

in my opinion i think the skyline would kill the Z06 during cornering but in a straight line the vette has it beaten.
even though the Z06 is faster i still dont think that it would beat the skyline round a circuit, the skyline is suppose to be the fastest ever production car round the Nurburgring track.

it was, until Zuffenhausen (Porsche) sent out a 911 GT2 on the 'ring...

Actually, the Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3 are the fastest 2 production cars ever tested on the ring... all time record for a street driven car is 7:32.xxx by the Gemballa GTR600.

Of course you relize that the McLaren F1 (yes the million dollar roadcar) has never been on the ring.

yes but the McLaren isn't that good in the curves...a 360 Modena or a 911 GT2 would leave it for dead... it's a great handling car, just not the best.
