Sounds to me like this is going to be like E3, since GT PSP is on the list, I reckon we aren't going to get much info about GT5 until GT PSP is launched, that gives them approximately just short of three months to hype the crap out of GT5 before a pre-christmas release, that's my thoughts on the subject.

The official program announces 3 hours (see page 4 on source: http://www.gamescom.de/global/dokumente/gamescom/Presse_Termine.pdf)
in several blogs, you find this:

"...SCEE’s just confirmed to VG247 that its GamesCom conference is to last around one hour, not the three hours previously reported.
A rep said on the phone that the presser will last “just over an hour” and the extra time around it is “for people to sit down… before we get started.”
The actual conference is scheduled to start “around 7.00pm,” said the spokesperson.
SCEE had previously said the event was to start at 6.00pm and would last for three hours until 9.00pm.
The publisher sent out a press note this morning detailing the conf’s location, and including the times 6.30-8.30pm.
So. There you go. It’s going to start at 7.00pm and last for about an hour...."

Oops, GT Ace was quicker...maybe the original program is helpful...

i wont be suprised if GT5 was officially announced at tokyo game show. It has more of a buzz than gamescon. besides its from a japanese developer

I think the long wait has made some people paranoid, and be cautious of a 2009 release. That's my diagnosis of it.

I look at it like this. Everyday I assume GT5 will be out in October of 2013. This way, I am prime for a surprise between now and then. :sly:

Ok then, here we go Again, Little to no Information and a: The game its ready, and its Thee Best one :sly:, so we can release it anyday we want to.

Now, being Serious, at E3 they showed a lot of stuff, so im hoping to see something here about GT5, not just a Trailer that leaves people with more Questions that Answers, and Using only the same cars of Prologue :nervous:

I am going to call some form of WRC footage and Lambo footage (probably more but to me that is a safe bet [even though I am not betting anything]).

I WISH they actually show something on GT5 at gamescom but i feel like there is no reason for us to get our hopes up. Honestly since when do games get announced 4-5 months before release? Even lesser games are announced many months in advance, look at bad company 2 and hell even Forza.

I really would like to eat my words but even the "whispering winds" know that Gt5 will probably not make the Gamescom Sony presentation. They will probably announce the ps3 slim, show some more GOW 3 details, a presentation of Heavy Rain and most likeley some Uncharted 2 gameplay. Other than that the psp games of the future (including GT-PSP) and some re-hashing of what we saw at E3.

I really want to believe, but I cant get rid of the almost "knowing" sense that GT5 will not be out this year. I bought a ps3 specifically for GT5, and for years the supposed release date has slipped. As much as I love PD's product, I cant see how anyone can deny that the whole constant delays are ridiculous. If we weren't all so caught up in the idea of perfection, this whole scenario would get torn to pieces, look how quickly IW can develop a new COD, or dare I say it how quickly Forza is released. I'm sorry but I am beginning to get slightly annoyed over this game. If its FINISHED then RELEASE IT.

Actually Forza was announced in June (E3) and will be releasing in October; that's four months before release date. If they announce GT5 at GDC/ Gamescon this will also be roughly 4 months.

I think that more than enough time for marketing hype!!:)

There has been no official release date only rumour and speculation, the closest official statement was from a Sony exec stating the game is set for a christmas 2009 release, some 1 year ago.
You are forgetting every COD release is alternated between the two developers, COD5 was Treyarch, not infinity ward, COD 6 is yet to be released.

I expect some GT5 info from GamesCon 2009 but the difference between Forza having 4 months for marketing and GT5 having 4 months for marketing is that between now and say, December, there are a LOT of big racing games and otherwise coming out the people might buy instead to avoid waiting for GT5. DiRT 2, Forza 3, Need For Speed Shift, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2 and Assassins Creed 2 come to mind. People might decide to spend their money on any of those instead of GT5 because they can buy those games in September, October, or November as opposed to waiting until December. Meanwhile, with Forza 3, they have the spotlight all to themselves right now what with absolutely no games of interest coming out currently. And they really are taking advantage of it. Every week they are releasing new info about their game and with no competition from GT5 they are growing more and more excitement with every bit of new info. To me its critical that GT5 releases more info at GamesCon this year if for nothing else but to slow the movement of core gamers away from the GT series over to Forza.

I dont know, I feel that we will get a date this year, if we dont, polyphony know that it would start an online riot :P.

Someone mentioned the GDC, the GDC is held in march, it went by 5 months ago, and the only thing I took out of it was the new Zelda game comming to the ds.

That's the point for me, GT5 sure its gona be awesome, but the competition run before, and time today is the most important key to sell anything, and i not saying quality!

Sorry my english.
