That vid is a super fail for the forza fanboys

Agreed, but it's also a fail for GT5 fanboys. It's clear that GT5s ai is a little TOO good at avoiding the players car. Now I don't blame PD as they took a hell of a lot of stick with GT4s ai. they've obviously busted a gut to ensure that it can avoid collisions, and it does it clearly VERY well indeed. But as we all also know that Ai in GT5 is damn slow whenever the player is near them. I think PD overcooked the avoidance part of the Ai script.

The reason why I say it's a fail for GT5 fanboys is despite it showing Forza in a very bad light (which it clearly does), many say that Forzas ai gives a better race. And surely that is the whole point of a racing game? PD have improved things somewhat with Spec 2.0, I'll give a bit of credit where it's due, BUT only in arcade mode..not in Aspec mode.

I'm curious why PD can't just tweak the Ai aggresivess a bit more for Aspec and let us decide what tyres the Ai can use. That way maybe it wouldn't be so slow mid corner and when battling the player.

For some reason this makes me consider parking a GT5 Sambabus across the road on a high speed corner and seeing what happens - how well they could avoid a much wider target.

Nice video - I enjoy seeing AI at work.

This guy shows just how stupid these comparisons are (Watch the whole video)

👍 The key part of the AI is how it performs in typical game conditions when the player is racing the AI. Obstruction avoidance events simply aren't common enough to be worth discussing.

Yes it is 👍 If you spin on the middle on the track...what to be avoided or rammed by the AI? (online is very easy to pick a choice)
The problem is that doing these comparisons it's very difficult to do everything exacly on the same conditions on both games...bah, I don't care :p

That is all you can take from the video.

What this reveals how far the AI looks down the road. Turn 10 claimed Forza 4 AI will look farther than Forza 3 AI. Well, they lied. I assume they ran out of hardware or time to improve the AI in Forza 4.

The GT5 AI know how to anticipate.

Did you know that deer can't "see the future", or anticipate? That's why they jump in front of speeding cars not knowing any better.

The AI in FM4 don't know how to anticipate any better than deer. From the aggressiveness I keep hearing about them during races, I think the more human-like AI is in GT5.

MMMMmmm, deer jerrrrky.

So people would rather feel like racing frightened A.I.? I know dodging a parked car is good and everything, but racing is where they need to actually function correctly. Real people online are always aggressive and that's why Fm4 wins on the A.I. side of things. They should compare A.I. in races than just parked cars in my opinion.

Forza's AI has always sucked, and over the course of 6 years, not a single attempt has been given to improve it.

Are you saying you want the game AI to simulate those online who doesn't know how to drive instead of a real race car driver? Real race car drivers drive aggressively but not stupid. They very rarely take risky moves but instead wait patiently to time their pass.

But sometimes avoidance is not realistic is it? It's probably why the Ai has speed issues mid corner and backs off when the human player is near. I think PD has gone a bit too far in one direction with the Ai. Note I am NOT defending Forzas Ai.

Real race drivers don't back off like GTs ai when being overtaken tho.

Here's the thing with aggressive AI, it replicates the average online driver perfectly, but it doesn't replicate an actual race driver at all....

Aggressive driving in real racing is often punished harshly when it fails which is why it's not often done... but there's no real "risk" for an AI or online driver.

I think the AI in GT5 needs to be faster and brake later into corners and exit the corner's faster, not be more aggressive towards the player.

+1 👍

After watching both videos within this thread you can blantantly see neither AI is perfect in either game. Both games have their strengths/weaknesses and that is what makes them entirely unique and enjoyable on their respective consoles.

It is important for AI to be aware of cars on tracks. GT5 AI is better, it is more clean or pro if you like but the problem is it is not competitive enough for many but for some it is probably right. The player car, tyres needs to be on par or worst than AI's
