Standard cars to receive Premium treatment.

Personally, I hope they won't push too much on supercars, which in the end are (at least to me) the least fun.

I agree, despite loving to see them in person and going gaga over them, I must say that is where it ends, or at least to the sounds they make But when driving one everything moves to fast to experience all the small details of the physics properly.

How would this be implemented?
If I own a standard version and a dlc version comes out, will it automatically replace my standard one? The standards are used models which come at a cheaper price.

I would imagine that they would go to the new dealer lot at a dearer price.
This will impact on how I would like to progress in the game. At the moment if a premium version is due to be released I obviously would want that version. This throws out some nice but unexpected problems.

Will it be free? Who knows. Will they get added straight to your collection if bought with real money? Who knows.

This is also an interesting question. I hope PD manages this properly.

A lot of standard cars are out of date. I see no point in wasting resources updating a 5 year old Commodore when that time and money could be put towards modeling a premium VE Series II.

I would do the opposite.
Race cars and exotics are the cars I find the most boring to drive in GT5.
They're good for farming credits and xp with b-spec drivers, though.

Well on second thought, maybe don't start at the top HP and work your way down.

I honestly won't give a crap about any vehicle that comes with less than ... 250 hp or so getting upgraded to Premium.

At the point that they are releasing these, I'm going to be so far into the game or have even completed it, that a premium version of a [insert 150 hp dud used only in beginner races here] won't be any incentive for me.

So maybe you take that middle chunk of cars ... 250 hp and up and start at the bottom if people don't want the race cars done first.

On my wish list first though - the RUF's please!

PD could take the easy route and give us x variations of Skylines, Miatas, and Evo's since the already have the modeling done for the Premiums, giving these a premium makeover would require minimum effort compared to other standards

I would like to see them all updated but being a big fan of the Cougar I would like to the the 67 XR7 updated and while they are at it add a race mod for it as well. That would be sweet.

As for the Veyron. I could care less. I guess some people go crazy over it because it has a high top speed but that thing is a tank. Far to heavy to race with any real success. It really is not good for much other than drag racing. It is also ugly.

This is indeed very very very good news!! It truly was the right thing to do and hopefully it really happens. I wonder what order they will start the swap. Doesnt really matter to me but this is exactly what I was hoping PD would do. 👍
If this happens it will wipe out most of my complaints about the game because lets face it, the standard cars are close to worthless in GT5. My guess is that they will start with the JPN cars or race cars.

Not sure which cars I want the MOST, but like everyone, I'd love them all to get upgrades over time!

The part that I don't understand is how Kaz & Team decided on Premium vs Standard?

If you decided that not all cars could be Premium, why would you spend all that time on cars that people aren't going to drive much, and not on the ones that they will drive to death?

For example - why go premium on the Fiat 500, Mitsubishi i-Miev, Toyota Prius, Yaris, Volkswagen Kubelwagen, Schwimmwagen & SambaBus?* Most people won't use these cars all that much compared to the LM Race Cars and the Veyron**.

Just my $0.02.

Anyway.. I personally think it's great news, and hopefully means that while GT6 is in development, we'll keep getting more and more to keep us interested!

And some 90's Japanese cars too, those are really fun and have loads of customization parts.

in the past some RPG DLC instalments screwd up save games so i had to start all over.. congrats to people who regard this as good news.. but im not smiling...

As easily as the game tracks ALL our progress, it ought to be easy (OK, not easy but doable) to have PD poll our PS3's and find out which Standard cars we drive the MOST. Maybe even with a breakdown in level...

Amen to that.... maybe an alfa 155 too? I keep dreaming about BTCC and WTCC id love to see some more cars from that era of racing. ( i know they are in the game however I do not consider the standard cars part of the game and therefore do not use them ) i'm bummed by the sound too but i wonder is it for the most part our sound systems or in a lot of cases lack thereof that makes the cars sound so ****. I plan to try it out on my dads 1000W 6.1 sony system this weekend i'll report back lol.

I forgot about the course maker and the gears.

We also need the ability to race our custom made courses online in the private races as was advertised.


One other thing I would really like to see is an option to adjust the volume of different parts of the game.
.. My Car engine
.. Oppontents cars
.. Tranny sound
.. Tire sound

As is the other cars are often louder than my own in traffic and makes it difficult to shift properly, plus the race tranny is a bit nerve racking on some cars with that constant whine.
