- I love that the Starkiller Base finally shows us how the thing powers up. The amount of power that would be needed to destroy a planet is large, so I hated that we were in the dark with the Deathstar. Now, I know, a Sun would have enough energy to destroy multiple universes, but it's still cool none the less.

Didn't you see the reactor core of Death Star II in Ep. VI? Also, the Death Stars used "hypermatter" to fuel their superlasers, hypermatter also being what fuels hyperdrives.

...Wait what? You serious?

Can you put up a link of the article you read that from?

I can't grab a link at the moment, but it's Rogue One this year, Boba Fett in 2018, and then a Han Solo movie in 2020.

...I heard about Solo going solo but Fett? :odd: I'm getting The Bad Vibe here.

I never really got all 'em fanboy fever over the dude who got swallowed up by a... toothy hole in the ground. I mean, I don't see why he's a bigger badass, in a film franchise filled with badasses.

But that's just me...

Almost right, switch the last two around. Han movie 2018, Boba 2020.

I knew something was off when I wrote that up.

Ugh. The ellipses is probably exactly why it was needlessly changed in the remaster and now looks like a sand plant as opposed to a very angry... garden.

I was never a huge fan of the Fett either but that's only because I was so drawn by Vader. I can tell you one of the reasons Fett is so awesome though: like Vader, his apparel is just badass.

The other appeal of Fett is how Vader treats him. Vader tells Fett explicitly to not disintegrate Solo.

I think they can do a good Fett movie. I have no idea how they are going to pull off a Solo movie without Harrison Ford.

It's a young Han Solo film, so takes place before the original trilogy.

A movie that Takes place after episode 3 that involves Obi Wan hunting down Darth Maul would be awesome.

Wait what? Darth Maul is dead years before that. And Obi Wan went undercover to watch over Luke. Or am I missing something?

I never really thought about it that way. I just figured that something that powerful couldn't possibly generate the power itself.

You missed my posts from the last page or two. Maul is alive and was in the Clone Wars animated series. I posted a link to the explanation which you'll have to look for as I can't get to it at the moment.

My point still stands. I am not sure how they can pull off a Solo movie without Harrison Ford. Ford makes the Han Solo character.

Even knowing it will be a prequel and thus a younger actor will be used, I have a hard time seeing someone being able to pull off Solo any where near as well as Ford. Now nor did I say I would not see the movie or go in without an open mind, I just have a hard time believing someone can do the character as well as Ford.

Speaking of ellipses: I noticed they used four periods instead of three on the final line of the opening text.

Jeez Abrams, you're such a hack!

The guys on Collider Jedi Council came up with a few they thought could play the part really well. Disney is taking thousands of auditions for the part. They'll find someone.

What wasn't spent on lens flares went to additional punctuation marks.

Looks like it's going to topple Avatar.

Not that anyone expected otherwise. It's Star Wars for crying out loud, its name is a license to print money*.

See Episode I for proof of this.

...Just read that from Box Office Mojo too. It's crazy if you think about it - not even a month after its release, and not even a global one at that, and yet it's raking in the moolah like it's going out of fashion. Insane I tell, insane.

Well, I think the plain fact that you sort of need to watch the movie twice in order to really begin to understand what is going on. The first time around, you're sitting their wondering who who is, and what happened, ect. So you sort of miss out on the little details that will help you towards the unanswered things for the next movie. That is where the second time around is good because you already know what to expect going into it.

Domestically, yes. Global earnings for Avatar are some insane number like $2.8 billion.

Consider, Star Wars is less than a month old, at $1.5b already, and hasn't even opened in China yet. I think, even without the fresh novelty of IMax 3D that Avatar boasted, it could duplicate those numbers.

It is bound to make some more money here, as the showings were interrupted by the Manila Film Festival... there are those of us who plan to do our second (or third, or etcetera) viewing later this week.

For real?

If anyone is super interested in most of the new Star Wars movies and related canon coming out, I would recommend checking this show out. A new one is posted every Thursday. Todays episode was slightly different from their normal format, but if you go through previous shows you'll see how they do things.

At around 50 minutes: Hello. Friend zone. :D I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who slapped their forehead at that kiss at the end.

Just wondering what people actually think of the film Vs the Novels? I have close to 200 novels and have been an avid reader of them since I was 16. Are we still writing in spoilers before I write any further?

Yes, we're still using spoiler tags.

Spoiler tags are in effect until January 11, so approximately 1 week. :)

Edit: When that happens, I will be putting up a post that covers what we know so far for the next movie release, Rogue One.

He got better. It is important to note that he is the only bounty hunter to successfully capture Han Solo and claim his bounty. If you think Han Solo is awesome then you have to wonder about the guy who caught him.

...My recollection's bit rusty at the moment, but didn't Solo get betrayed by his good friend Lando? Wasn't that the reason why Solo got turned into a carbonized slab, leaving behind one of the greatest lines of the modern cinema in the process?

I was right on the money in 2014.

I do not like the idea of running the old crew out for this. Leave them alone and make new tracks.

I would have liked something new and original instead of a re-do of episodes 4-6.

@R1600Turbo is responsible for half of that figure.

Boba used the Empire as a weapon to claim a bounty for Jabba. Boba brought the economic might of the empire to bear on Lando's mining contracts. Lando then turned the group, not Han specifically, over to Vader, who was chasing Luke.

Let me rephrase it: Boba Fett is the only bounty hunter to collect a bounty on Han Solo, because he had the cunning to manipulate the full economic and political force of a galactic empirical government into doing his bidding. He had the second most powerful man in the galaxy working with him to meet his own means, and gave the empire the information to nearly crush the leadership of a large, organized rebellion.

After Boba Fett had his bounty Vader lost his prisoners and only had the opportunity to grab Luke when Luke turned himself in. In fact, the only time Vader ever managed a face-to-face encounter with his enemies, that didn't involve Boba, were when they came to him.

If anything, all the successes Vader had in Empire are due to Boba Fett.

...Looks like I should re-watch the original trilogy after all - I can't remember much, other than few snippets here and there.

I always had this impression Fett was a character Lucas came up on a whim, something like a throwaway Boogeyman of sorts for one single film.
And him dying in such a comical way didn't help...
