Stop the "Grandpa-Cars" – I filed an official complaint with Sony (Case #50228XXX)

"Hi everyone,
I’m writing this because I’m absolutely fed up with the current direction of Gran Turismo 7.
I’m a dedicated player and I spent a lot of time grinding for legends like the Porsche 911 GT1 (10M Credits). But instead of actual high-end legends like Koenigsegg or iconic German tracks like Hockenheim or Sachsenring, Polyphony keeps giving us 'smartphones on wheels' (Xiaomi) and boring old economy cars ('Grandpa-cars' like old Opels).
For a game that calls itself 'The Real Driving Simulator', this is a joke. I want to drive the pinnacle of automotive engineering, not my grocery getter.
I have officially filed a complaint with Sony Support regarding this issue (Case #50228XXX). We need to let them know that the community wants real cars and real racing content, not this filler stuff.
Who's with me? Let’s make some noise so PD finally listens!"
Filing a complaint because the cars being added to a game is not to your liking is beyond pathetic, textbook entitlement.

Near Ouzina_.webp

And some of those "Grandpa-cars" can make a Koenigsegg look ordinary like a grocery getter too.

I'll have to agree with everyone else here.

Couldn't care less about Koenigsegg and hypercars in general. I find them completely unappealing to drive and also dislike the aggressive looks in most of them.

That said, I'm glad the soccer mom SUV season in GT7 is (probably) over.

real cars
I also want real cars, like the first car I ever owned, probably before you were born.

Was it a crapbox? Of course, but it was my crapbox and I'd love the opportunity to feel its fury once again.

When you grow up and take your first car to your first track day, you'll realize how fun it really is to drive a slow car fast. I've been doing it in Gran Turismo since 1998 so I know that this game franchise has always offered something slightly different than the rest of the racing game market. It's a special creature.

I had an 04 for my first car and fury is a good description. I would love to have mine in a GT game, but with Kaz, it would probably be the Toyota badged model.
I Love how he hasn't responded to anyone since page 1. Really kicked the hornets nest lol.
Either that or @Famine gave him a timeout.

You know what's funny about these players in general is that they use the "I AM AN AVID FAN SINCE GT1" as some sort of a qualifier to be entitled and claim to represent the entire community just to demand everything they want.

Anyway, I will still do a hunger strike until I get my Benz Patent Motorwagen and a one-make race dedicated for it at the Nurburgring.

I respect the nostalgia, but there’s a difference between a classic Opel with soul and a modern Xiaomi smartphone-on-wheels. If you want old-school, that's fine, but a 'Real Driving Simulator' in 2026 shouldn't ignore the engineering peaks like Koenigsegg. We can have both—but right now, the balance is shifting towards boring commuters instead of racing legends

Till you finished that race, I guess GT8 will be already released😀

Don't get me wrong: I love real classics. But there’s a difference between a legendary vintage racer and a boring, modern Renault or Opel commuter. Gran Turismo is supposed to celebrate the 'Pinnacle of Performance', yet Koenigsegg is still completely missing. You can call them 'cars for the rich', but these are the masterpieces the community actually wants to drive in a simulator. Don't complain about me 'moaning' when the most exciting brand in the world is absent while we get everyday traffic. We deserve the best, not just the basics

It’s not hindsight, it’s common sense. You don’t need years of reflection to see that a 2026 racing sim is incomplete without Koenigsegg. It was a missing piece on day one, and it’s still missing now. Some things are obvious from the start.

My point is you're holding a "classic Opel" up to great praise IN HINDSIGHT. You can't predict the legacy any current car may have 15-20 years from now.

Gran Turismo is supposed to celebrate the 'Pinnacle of Performance'

Where does it say that?

Exactly! And honestly, nobody knows if GT8 will even come out in this decade, given how long Polyphony takes. That’s why we need Koenigsegg and real tracks like Hockenheim NOW in GT7. I'm not planning to wait another 5 years just to see some actual effort in the car list. 😀

What racing legend did Koenigsegg make?
Ever heard of the Koenigsegg CCGT? It was a pure GT1 racing machine. But even beyond that, Gran Turismo is about 'The Real Driving Simulator' and 'Precision Engineering'. Koenigsegg holds world records for acceleration and braking that make every 'racing legend' look slow. If we can have a Xiaomi SUV, we definitely have space for the ultimate engineering masterpieces from Sweden. Don't move the goalposts just to defend a weak car list.

There's your mistake ☝️

For example Mazda Daemio from GT1 was the modern commuter of that time. And countless other cars along GT lifespan. So it is logical to get that kind of cars today. Not only the "pinnacle of performance" cars.

And talking about "pinnacle" of anything, the Xiaomi is a special car too, not the kind you like, but it has good reasons to be in the game (and the manufacturer is probably more than favourable to its inclusion)

As for Koenigsegg, maybe there are licensing issues or agreements that prevented those cars to come to the franchise. Their performance of anything else is not the only criteria for inclusion.

And please, as already suggested, refrain to us "we" instead of "I".

What races did it compete in and or win to be a legend? Also that car is almost 20 years old, hardly pinnacle of performance, is it a grandpa car now?

A car doesn't become a legend just by getting old. Classics like the Manta or the 190E earned their status through motorsport blood and iconic engineering. Comparing that to a generic tech-company EV is a stretch. Koenigsegg is breaking world records TODAY—that's instant legacy. I don't need to wait 20 years to know that a Jesko is more important for a driving sim than a Xiaomi. Let's focus on performance, not 'what if' scenarios.

What gives you the impression he likes Koenigsegg?

Has he never heard of Lotus?

Hey bud, mind making a single post without your AI helping you out? It keeps making silly mistakes and further embarrassing you.

Comparing a Mazda Demio—a car with Japanese tuning culture in its DNA—to a modern tech-firm EV is exactly where we disagree. One is car culture, the other is a smartphone on wheels.
As for licenses: If every other major racing franchise can secure Koenigsegg, then Polyphony, with Sony's budget, has no excuse. It’s about priority, not possibility.
And about using 'I' or 'we': Look at the countless threads on every GT forum. Thousands are asking for Koenigsegg and modern GT3 cars. I might be the one speaking up here, but the desire for actual performance over 'commuter-marketing' is shared by many. I'll stick to my 'I' if it makes you feel better, but the facts remain the same.

Why compare them? I know Lotus, and they are legends of lightweight engineering. But that’s a completely different league. Koenigsegg is about pushing the absolute limits of what is technologically possible. It’s not about 'liking' one or the other—it’s about a 2026 'Real Driving Simulator' missing the most innovative hypercar brand in the world while adding everyday commuters. We can have Lotus AND Koenigsegg. My point stands: the car list is lacking the modern titans.

What do you really know about that precisely ?

Yeah sure. But stop anyway. You are arguing for yourself, not talking for everyone.

Focusing on the tool instead of the argument is a classic way to dodge the topic. I use help to express my points clearly in English—there’s no shame in that. What’s actually 'embarrassing' is defending a car list full of SUVs in a racing simulator while skipping the world's top hypercars. If you have nothing to say about Koenigsegg or the game’s direction, maybe you're the one who's out of arguments. Cheers!
