Hahahahahah I'm sorry if I seem a bit picky to you but those cars were laighing at me in my garage so I had to use them. Next time I will complete the N100/200 chart
Yeah sure ;)

New time of mine (already posted by @Yassi_99; my time was faster)

BMW M4'14: 07.36.132

At first this car seemed rather unstable but once you get the hang out of it, it's pretty fun and rather easy to drive. You can easily throttle-steer that thing around tight corners. Just beautiful. The looks are certainly quite nice too. It really surprised me just how much quicker it was than its predessesor the M3 from 2007.

Well @Yassi_99 you wanted war? You got it. Let me taste those bitter sweet tears of defeat of yours...

giphy-13.gif

Christmas is over boiiis! :P

In all seriosness though: I was on a real flyer (low 07.35.xxx), and botched it at the last corner. Just braked too late. I was pissed I tell ya...

I swear I'm laughing out loud now. I love this thread. Let the war begin :D

Tonight I just couldn’t resist, skipped a bunch of cars on the list and hopped in the Lancaster Delta HF Integrale EvoluIone, one of my all time favorite cars, I remember back when I was 20, my cousin bought one, and he let me take a spin in it, it was such a fast car back then, in my opinion it was THE hot hatch of the early 90’s, it beat the cr.. out of the GTIs and GSIs of that time. Unfortunately I was never able to take it for a spin on a proper track, my cousin did, he drove it around Zandvoort circuit a few times, that must have been amazing.

So I took it for a spin around the Nordschleife, only three laps since it’s already past midnight over here and tomorrow is going to be a long day with my family,
Squeezed out a 8:46.321, with the optimal lap at 8:45,321.
Each lap was faster then the previous one, second lap only a good half second faster then the first, but then I got the feel for the car more, oh I also set the driving position a bit higher, couldn’t really see much of the track with the low seat position. The car really needs to be taken slow in fast out, the acceleration after a good exit is so great. Third lap was 13 seconds faster the the second lap.

On Thursday the shifter will be delivered and I am definitely going to take this beauty for a lot more laps once that arrives, I’m positive that it has a lot more potential then that 8:45.

2 new times of mine (already posted by @Yassi_99; his times were both faster):

1. Aston Martin V8 Vantage S '15: 7.46.472

Mr. Bonds car. Looks nice, sounds nice. Drives rather well. Actually quite a bit better than I anticipated. The top speed is disappointingly low though. I still enjoyed the ride.
2. Porsche 911 GT3 (997) '09: 7.32.508
My third time testing this car. Made a mistake and was still able to improve my own time. For now I'm quite happy with it. The car also drives much better than I remember it doing. Very well balanced car, great looks, great top speed, handling, everything. Really a joy to drive.

New time:

Maserati Gran Turismo S '08: 7.45.214

I absolutely love how it looks. Both the end and the front. It also sounds really nice. Its high weight helps it to produce great stability and thus handling. I really, really liked driving it, very easy to drive at the limit. Also it was faster than I imagined. Slightly faster than the V8 Vantage and even the old M3 from 2007. Its top speed is the lowest of all the N400 cars probably though. Shockingly low even. Well yeah I mean two seconds on the Nordschleife aren't the big difference and my M3 lap could possibly be faster, but still, this car here did really impress me.

EDIT:

New times
:

1. Ford Mustang GT '15: 07:49.948

Expected it to be about this "fast". Has even lower top speed than the Maserati. I really like how it looks and it's rather fun to drive. Very drifty. The fun kind of drifty.

2. Chevrolet Camaro SS '16: 07:43.276

Quite a bit faster than expected. Looks cool. Drives really, really well, except the slighty pronounced snap-oversteer. Really enjoyed the ride.

Suzuki Swift Sport (N100) - 9:06,892

Very cool little hot-hatch. Very planted to the road and easy to drive. Surprisingly almost zero understeer. Of course its little engine lacks power and needs high RPM to keep your speed up but I can see, why the Swift Sport can be rented at real Touristenfahrten. It is a small little pocket racer which you shouldn't underestimate.

BMW M4 (N400) - 7:34,391

@Alex p. ;-)

@RTD Racing The game should work just fine. Did everything turn out well for you?

New times:

1.
Lexus LC500 '17: 07:45.903

To me one of the most beautiful cars in GTS and of recent times in general. Feels heavy, but at the same time also surprisingly nimble.
2. Lexus RC F '14: 07:40.272
Great car. It feels like it's pushing its claws into the road, that's how grippy it feels.

Anyone having connection issues? My PS4 finally arrived, HDMI changed, but I cant connect to psn servers

Could you resolve the issues by now? I hope we can see the first times from you soon. 👍

BMW M4 (N400) - 7:34,391 @Alex p. ;-)

Ok ok I give up alright!?

New times:

1. Shelby Cobra 427 '66: 07:35.494

The only bad thing about this car is its very low top speed (240 km/h). Aside from that it is absolutely awesome. Lovely design, great handling and incredible accelaration! With normal top speed it could go around the Nordschleife in under 07:30 easily.

2. Toyota FT-1: 07:25.807

What an amazing machine! Incredible accelaration and grip/cornering speed and absolutely amazing design! Its top speed is rather low unfortunatly (290 km/h).

3. Chevrolet Corvette C7 '14: 07:36.439

Greatly balanced car. Has a really pleasant soft and floaty driving feel to it. The looks are also very nice. I really, really like this car.

4. Dodge Viper GTS '02: 07:35.133
Man I just LOVE this car! The handling is absolutely amazing! It's like it is throwing itself into the corners without spinning, sliding or even losing any speed. In fact its corner speeds are really, REALLY impressive! The engineeres did a fantastic job here! Also it seems to have very nice brakes. For now it is my best driving car. And the looks man! What a sexy looking car. Also the under braking lit up Viper symbol at the back is such a cool detail! One of my favourite cars of all time.

5. Jaguar F-type R '14: 07:32.184

A little bit faster than I expected it to be. Drives quite nicely. Looks and sounds really good. I liked it.

EDIT:

New times:

6. Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '78: 08:33.493

Well, it as nice to drive a Firebird I guess. I mean it's an old, weak muscle car. Considering that, it did ok.

7. Plymouth XNR Ghia Roadster '60: 08:30.713
Looks like a bathtub, drives like one. Still a bit faster than it looks I guess.

New time of mine (already posted by @SjefGielen , I was faster than him):

8. Lancia DELTA HF Integrale Evoluzione '91: 08:30.685

Lovely design. Drives rather well, and considering its HP, it's rather fast I think.

New time of mine (already posted by @Yassi_99, he was faster than me):
9. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S '15: 07:29.335

What an amazing car! Really fast and really fun to drive. Quite easy to move at the limit too.

EDIT 2:

New time:
10. Chevrolet Corvette C3 '69: 08:11.892

A well balanced, old American muscle car. I like it.

New time of mine (already posted by @Yassi_99, he was faster than me):
11. Chevrolet Corvette C2 '63: 08:08.903
This one is definatly not very well balanced. Drives like a bathtub too. I mean it is really so damned twichy at the limit. Not very pleasant to drive.

New time of mine (already posted by @Yassi_99, I was faster than him):
12. Ford Mustan Mach 1 '71: 08:29.060

Quite twichy at the limit. Great acceleration but pathetic top speed (lowest of all tested cars, around 180 km/h in a straight line, maximum 188 km/h with modulated throttle downhill...). Looks pretty cool though.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 (N500) - 7:31,745

Just felt the urge to check the C7 Corvette. Designwise, it is one of my favorite ones. Unfortunately we don't have the more badass Z06 but it still performs quite incredible for the fact that it is one of the lower-powered N500 cars. It has a very smooth handling with light tendency to oversteer.

Ford Ford GT (N600) - 7:18,573

This car really destroyed my nerves. It drives well but the strong highspeed-understeer made this test harder than it should have been lmao
It has awesome straight line performance and high cornering speed but one simple mistake can easily cost you all in this machine. Where other supercars start oversteering, this one does the opposite which I don't really like too much. Nevertheless, a highly impressive time as it felt slower than it really is.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention the biggest flaw for me. I drive street cars only with cockpit view as it gives me a better feeling for the car's behaviour but oh boy: I have never seen such big A-pillars and windscreen wipers in my whole life. Some corners were almost completely blind hahahaha

This is why I want to try VR or triple monitor setup

Today I started to test street cars to get a better impression of their strenghts and overall performance. I know there are plenty of other people who already did this but I didn't see anyone using the Nordschleife :-) A bit weird as it is the best track to test the vehicles in both handling and straight line speed. As we all know: A fast car on the Nordschleife is (almost) everywhere atleast competitive.

Same condition for every car:

-No driving aids (except ABS)
-Stock (No BoP)
-Sport Hard tires
-Driven with DS4

I did something similar a while back. Here is the thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/meditations-on-nürburgring-24h.374713/#post-12343364

I didn't start out doing the Nordschleife but the 24 Hour. Still, pretty similar. And ultimately I switched to Nordschleife.

My favorite street car on that track is probably the McLaren F1. Such a dream to drive. So fast and stable. Sounds amazing. Looks amazing.

My all-around favorite is the Ferrari 330 P4. An iconic car that is REALLY fast around the track.

I read your own thread and I have to say I'm impressed with your idea. Many people forget how much fun it is to push non-race cars to their limits as it feels harder but much more rewarding. Even the differences between the vehicles are a lot more noticeable than in any racing class. Sometimes jumping between certain N classes feels like jumping from Gr.3 to Gr.2/1. You sometimes don't expect those huge changes but it gives me the most fun in this game. After 70 races I reached A+ in Sport mode and it felt quite dull over time. My thread (or should I say our thread) is so much more fun: Especially since other people started testing N class too and posting their absolute best lap times. Comparing, battling and testing all in one package :-)

Tesla Model S Signature Peformance (Gr.X) - 8:01,501

Didn't expect it to have such great handling. It has a high limit and great drifting capability which can be helpful at turning the car to the inside of the corner. Almost zero understeer and quite good acceleration. Of course top speed is miserable compared to other vehicles with gas engines like the E92 M3 but it feels very fresh and different to drive.

Wow, what an afternoon! After the update I jumped right into the Porsche Speedster to run it around t NBR.
After only 4 laps I started to get the hang of the twitchy heavy back end and managed to get a smooth run out of it. This car is so nice to drive and predictable, when driven smoothly.

I squeezed out a 9:31.947, with the optimal lap time being 9:31.871.

The optimal was a little faster due to one oversteer catch in sector 7 which cost me 0.076 of a second compared to that sector in lap 3.
Man I man, PD really needs to get more wonderful cars like this one in the game, up until now this was the best experience on the ring ever, I enjoyed the X-Bow a lot due to its great mechanics and handling, but driving a nimble classic car with perfect power to weight ratio like this one is absolutely epic.

On my list it comes in after the Suzuki Swift but ahead of the Honda S660. What a car.

I have an appointment today so I wasn't able to test the new update yet ;-(
I want to get home asap

New time:

Porsche 356 A/1500 GS GT Carrera Speedster '56: 09:05.161

What a fun little box. Feels almost fast some times. During replay it literally looks like a bug/beetle. Quite tricky under braking from "high" speeds though. Likes to slide. I liked it.

Are you going to retest everything because of the physics update? I'm so mad about it lol all our work is now worthless!
Well I guess PD is giving us a hard time :D
I would retest some cars to see how big the physics difference really is (especially cars which were tested not a while ago to be truly comparable). I mean it is a pain in the a## but atleast it's still hella fun to rip those cars on the Schleife

Honda Integra Type R DC2 (N200) - 8:23,376

One of my favourite FF cars returned and I'm sooo glad it is just as cool and good as real life. Compared to stronger JDMs it lacks a bit power but it is still much faster than its 200 hp might say. When the VTEC kicks in, no one can stop you from your path :D
Handling is top-notch as this car is even lighter than most race cars. PD also nailed the sound so it feels very satisfying to rev this baby to around 8500 rpm. We should consider to do some kind of BestMotoring tribute on Tsukuba :-)

New times:

1. Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71: 08:14.700

Well it's not very easy control at the limit in my opinion. Can be very tricky. Other than that I really enjoyed the ride. It certainly looks and sounds nice too. And obviously it's very fast considering its hp. Well it's a Ferrari after all...

2. Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98: 08:23.564 (time already set by @Yassi_99, he was faster than me)

I basically agree to all said by Yassi about this car. And yes I also like this car very, very much. One of my favourites.

We should consider to do some kind of BestMotoring tribute on Tsukuba :-)

I would absolutely love that!

Ferrari GTO '84 SO FUN And VERY fast for its class (N400).

So what was your time?

EDIT:

1. Shelby G.T.350 '65: 08:01.928

No wonder it is mostly considered as the best classic American muscle car, because it truly is. Great acceleration, handling and stability. Its top speed isn't too bad (slightly over 220 km/h). It can certainly go sub 8 minutes around the Norschleife, so basically just as fast as all the 90s Japanese sports cars, and that's just remarkable!

2. Nissan Fairlady Z Version S (Z33) '07: 07:58.255

Made a little mistake just before the last right hand corner. Could have easily been a 07:57.xxx and with this better than all the other Japanse sport cars with ~300hp, except the allmighty Skyline R34 from the 2000s. Great, great car this. What a joy to drive. Just excellent!

3. BMW Z8 '01: 07:45.922

Feels like a German muscle car. Really fun drive. Great car.

I'm truly impressed with the Mustang too. Haven't tried it on a hot lap myself but it delivers the race feeling while maintaining its old features. It is just a joy to drive and I think the laptime is truly impressive for its lacking topspeed. I am a huge fan of classic muscle/pony cars so I hope the future updates will give them more attention (Charger, Chevelle, Cuda, Camaro...).

PS: Thanks @Alex p. for always mentioning the complete name of the vehicle. Makes it a lot easier to fill it into the spreadsheet :-)

Wow, this is a first, I'm used to being around 10-12 seconds slower than you guys so I do not often compare my laptimes to times allready set by you.
I entered your (DS4) times in my sheet though and it turns out that with one N300 car I have set a faster lap time.

My time in the Hyundai Genesis is a 8:03.174 with an optimal lap time of 8:00.722

It's second on my list after the (obviously) X-Bow. You'd expect the skylines and a number of other cars to be faster, but this car seems to fit my driving style perfectly, it feels so easy to push this car hard while driving very smoothly. Other than that, I have never thought of driving this car, it just doesn't appeal to me, I actually bought it to complete my NBR test sheet.

New time:
1. TVR Tuscan Speed 6 '00: 07:40.937

Wow now this is a handfull. Really likes to slide. Once you get the hang out of it though, it becomes a really enjoyable driving experience. You can easely throttle-drift this thing around corners, so fun! Also you can take corners with very high speeds and the thing is very very speedy. Great and exciting drive!

Edit: @Yassi_99 SjefGielen mentioned his optimal time in the Genesis was a 8.00.x but not the best time he had actually set in one lap, so you should switch back the time in the spread sheet or did I misunderstand something?

Edit: @Yassi_99 SjefGielen mentioned his optimal time in the Genesis was a 8.00.x but not the best time he had actually set in one lap, so you should switch back the time in the spread sheet or did I misunderstand something?

Great time in the Tuscan, haven't tried that one, I still have one N300 car to do (Shelby) and after that will start on the N400s, but I'm also having lots of fun with daily race B this week!

Since we're testing the cars capabilities, it's a car performance test, not a drivers, I think optimal lap times are the ones to compare.

Oh please, do try it out

Tuscan is the best car in this update for me, 100%. It has power, it has style, it has very cool engine note, it has some bizzare colour choices and it handles like a dream. You can do anything in this car and you can do it so easily.

Car costing a nudge under 100k is such a waste on PD's part. I'd abuse the crap out of it on Premium Sports Lounge if it reached the 100k barrier

Definitely give it a try. Amazing vehicle

Yep if it shows up as his optimum it means the car is capable of this time. Therefore it is legit to register his lap. That doesn't mean that he has the monopole now with the Genesis though ;) You can always try to beat his time @Alex p.
