It could be a hoax. There's been plenty of time for someone to make a mockup of the box and chuck a DVD with the logo in.

Suely the dad would have made it clear he coudn't tell anyone...

Hoaxness.

Im guessing he had an Xbox hidden somewhere, when he was claiming to have played Halo 2 on it.

I would go ask that kid to show me pictures of the Halo 2 CD in the Xbox 360 with the CD-Tray open. And I would also like to see the RGB hookups.

I can identify RGB hookups from miles away.Every manufacturer has a diff. design.I would ALSO ask to see the rear of the 360,to see the input, and photos of the cord running from the rear,to the TV.

well, the KID didn't sign the NDA, did he? hahaha.

what a whore. he put his dad/person he knows who works at MS in deep s*** just for some gamespot noobs to grovel at his feet. that's so lame.

First things first, his dad isn't going to get in trouble because he posted pictures of the Xbox 360, since they are floating around everywhere, it won't be anything he'll get in trouble for.

More importantly, unless he did any video for anything, him and his father are probably more than okay. At most it would be considered a mild violation of an NDA and his step fathers console was probably returned to MS, but the consequences are not that severe.

I've been down this road with MS before when I had Forza, I got a slap on the wrist, but it wasn't really in violation of the NDA since it clearly only stated I could not capture video, but still images were more than okay. His case is probably very similar.

Yeah, but I still like the part about how he begged to get everything taken down as quickly as possible.

That was probably right after he temporarily lost his hearing from his dad's "You did WHAT?!?!?"

The best thing about this is that the noob kid pissed and moaned to the Gamespot mods to take the pictures down after his dad found out. Way to go asshole, your dad's NDA just went out the window and Microsoft is hot on his ass.

Or it can be another of Microsoft's viral marketing campaigns...

It's not real, 100% fake..nothing adds up..

Power button doesn't light up...i/o chords all messed up...
playing Halo 2 without backwards compatability....
No lights on the controller signifying active connection.....
It's just a big pile of donkey crap..

Halo 2 is going to be able to run on the 360. The 360 will be that way with a few games.

That could all not be ready yet remember. This is a test model, more things might be added with the final version.

I would love to play an XBox 360 now if my Dad has it, but I wouldn't tell everyone because I wouldn't get my Dad fired!

looks like a fake as they say its news to MS that they let employee's take it home to test. It would be hard to hide that thing as well.

looks real, could be real. Its a beta so ppl saying its fake caise its backwards compatable need to think before they talk.

Signs that it is fake: Power light isnt on and the controller light isnt on. And the fact it could be a doctored up then photoshopped one of these. Ive seen many computers with tags on the side like whats on that.

I spend 4 years at Bang & Olufsen as an apprentice. All of the developers had AV gear years away from market in their homes for testing purposes. And I can't see how M$ could accomplish a test program without letting Devs have the hardware in their homes...

He.. I had to sign an NDA when I was at B&O :odd:

Because Microsoft would keep this a little more under wraps than..."hey stan, wanna take this home...You have a 14 year old son who looks like a Skater Reject from the band rooney? We've tracked his gaming on X box live, and know how much of an azzhole he is? That's fine, take the system."

Ok, if it's a beta how come no lights are on for the power.
The controllers underside isn't grey, as are the 360's..
There is no active connection light on the controller or reciever..
The video chords that were apparent on the second photo,(where Halo 2 logo is) are gone in the 3rd (dark X box 360logo)

Not to mention, last time I checked the X box 360...Even in "conceptual phases" didn't have wires hanging out of it..but...That could just be cooincidence.

Obviously you've never been involved in a hardware design phase. I remember the first models we received of the Beosound 9000 (6 CD thingy) - tons of weird wires and plugs you'd never see on the final product.. All for the sake of probing each and every part of MCs, CPUs, stepmotors and whatnot..

Who knows - It might be real, it might be fake...

ok everyone is going on - "oh its a fake" but im not so sure,

cmon look at the controller that is a definite x360 controller,

remember it said he was testing?

(Regulatory Compliance Manager, and is currently hardware testing the Xbox 360. The wires coming out the top are for such testing. The hardware is apparently complete, and although there were no 360 games to test) i dont think microsoft would have exactly gave him the exact model that will be in shops. a disguised console if need be!

obviously with the controller i would think that is the exact one - i wouldnt see the need to disguise it.

Anyone remember that colony video of the x360 on the net? im sure i seen one that looked like that especially that colour that didnt look like the final design.

Obviously, the pictures are not fake.

However, the story behind the pictures is still in question.

it's a waste of breath to argue with him.

Code_Kev: You've got nothing on me. I already own a PrayStationSirtteen (PS13). I made it myself and Sony has called me to borrow my design. It's main component is a high powered toaster oven with wireless on and off switches. And it also can roast hot dogs. Me > You.

Do you have that little of a life that you're forced to just throw out little remarks like this? Jesus man, grow up.
No one was argueing. I pointed out my observations, I never said he was wrong, he might be right... The only things you can be in regards to this picture is skeptic with doubts, or skeptic with LESS doubts until the real story is revealed.

Yearh - Twas a pretty good time.. Being young (with all that comes ;) ) and working in such a cool place with some of the most dedicated engineers, designers and developers I'll probably ever meet... The things I've seen there were insane.. There was this guy, one of the first Laserdisc fanatics I ever met - the top of the line Philips back then just wasn't good enough for him - so he stripped the whole thing bar the drive mechanism and designed, built, soldered and programmed his own.. Talk about being obsessive 👍

Awesome people - simply awesome !...
