Of course, no problem, go a head and use what ever car you like that fits within our rules mate :)

There may be alot of car switching depending on what changes the Friday update brings...

Off to buy a Prius for the next race.

Please don't do that. I would be REALLY embarassed if I got beat by a Prius... :dunce:

You are first reserve, so be ready to race on Sunday. It would surprise me if everyone showed up, although I really hope they do.
Keep an eye in this thread on Sunday, if there are any open spots they will be announced here.

So last night I'm tuning my IS350 and running some practice laps. When I started the session I had 351HP, now after practice I have 355. ZyBeR any chance of raising the hp limit by 5hp up to 360 or so. I've parked the car and will not practice with it anymore, so that the hp will not rise any higher. But what would happen if on Sunday during time trials or practice it goes up another hp or so, would I get booted? I know this is a moot point if the 2/18 update brings a power point system but we don't know that at this time. Just curious.

I plan on running the Lexus Wedsport IS350

On my IS350 I can't get close to 355. It's either way under or way over. I wanted to use it but no luck. I just figured it wasn't going to work so I'll use a different car. There are many choices.

But we can't raise the limit again. No matter what the limit, there will always be somebody that wants just 1 more horsepower.

💡 Just remove the turbo??

As s2k2k3 said, we set the hp level a few days ago, we are keeping that for now. Changing again would raise to many bad feelings among the gents.

Thanks I'm hoping to race its hard to find clean races :)

Agreed. Thanks for the input, I want to keep the peace in the racing community.

I really believe we're all going to be re-calculating our car/setup tomorrow.

But as I've said (and will continue to say), the 300 in GT300 is horsepower. So whatever the new rules we have to keep the horsepower close to 300.

Good luck with that.

My RX7 had more than 300 HP straight out of the premium dealership.
Its 334 now, stock with oil change and around 60KM. It should raise a little more i think. The arta will go around 355 i think.

Um... I said CLOSE to 300. I'd have to be an idiot not to know that the GT300 cars have more than 300 right from the dealership.

I will continue to advocate for my position (since it was me that started this in the first place).

GT300 should stay as close to 300hp as possible while allowing all the GT300 cars to compete (without turbo upgrades).

GT500 cars are plentiful in the game, as are GT500 race series.

On the topic of Sunday's race... Tokyo gets very narrow when racing. I have just been running some 1-make races in the Arta and it is challenging to pass without contact most places. We should all keep this in mind, and pick our passes carefully.

EDIT:
Since we've had a look at the update and we can both add weight and reduce power there is no longer any argument that power level has to be raised in the series.

Here are my suggestions for changes to the rules for races in the new update:

Power - 355hp. I'd like to see it down to 325 but I'm willing to accept 355 as that's what we agreed to.
Weight - 1150kg. Some GT300 cars are heavier than others. This levels the playing field. Light cars can add ballast to make weight.
Performance Points - 590 See post below.

I disagree about the weight increase. I have deliberately chosen an older model of the Garayia because it was lighter and to add more diversity to the race. Its got less hp and a different power curve which compensates. Its still stock. What you've basically done there is quoted the spec of the 08Garayia and if we set the limits as1150kg and 355hp its going to end up being a one or two car race. I've also got a Superautobacs Apex Mr-s that I was intending to use that 1125kg but has got 357hp, unfortunately the limits have been agreed and I've accepted I cannot use it in this series. Don't go changing the race specs at this late stage because everyone is going to be using the same one or two cars and it'll just be down to setup and driver skill and we all know who's going to win that one ;-). Unless we make him drive a prius!

I think we should keep the limits we have. If we want to keep certain over-classed cars out, we could just add downforce limitations. So if a car has a max downforce higher than 35/60 then it would be banned. Does that sound good?

2 things about the power: First, it was changed to 355 before the update. Second, power is now adjustable down, so you can pick the MR-S and set it to 355 if you want. The new update makes practically every car in the game usable if you turn down power and maybe add weight, so we have no worry about it being a 1 or 2 car race. Variety will definately be the spice of online racing in the new update.

re: weight. Since weight is also adjustable now by ballast it is only fair to let the heavier GT300 cars compete equally. I'm not talking about adding 500kg of weight. Just leveling it out. This is very realistic because every racing series has a minimum weight (or a power/weight rule) and almost every race car is designed deliberately light so that ballast can be added and adjusted.

I think we should keep the limits we have. If we want to keep certain over-classed cars out, we could just add downforce limitations. So if a car has a max downforce higher than 35/60 then it would be banned. Does that sound good?

We are keeping the limits we have except for a slight adjustment to weight due to the new ballast feature. We all want as many cars to be competitive as possible, with no "god cars" that dominate. That's why ballast is used in the real world, to keep weight equal.

It's a fine idea to add a rule that no formula cars can be used. But if we set the PP level appropriately then we don't have to worry about it because the cars won't qualify.

I will be exploring the PP system to see what level makes sense to allow all GT300 cars to compete but keep out "the unwanted". Obviously all input is welcome on this.

HooKay... Power is adjustable down by 50% so any car that makes more than 710hp can't be adjusted down enough to compete. Plus, only 200kgs of ballast can be added. So no X1 or F1 cars.

After taking a GT500 car (which is after all the same as a GT300 except for power) and turning it down to 355hp I smoked off a lap a full second faster than my fastest in the Arta. Buuuuuuuut... The GT500 car was making 620PP while my Arta is only 585. So for a starting point I suggest 590PP as our limit. That doesn't keep out the GT500 cars but it makes them turn down the aero and/or add weight to make PP.

Tires also affects PP but changing tires in the tuning menu does not automatically update the Performance Points. You have to do something else that causes a change, like go into the aero menu. Even though tires affects your PP I suggest we keep the Racing Medium restriction, since the Softs don't wear like they should in the game.

Hayl does that mean we can add high range turbos to distribute power more evenly across the revs and then tone the hp down to get in the race? This'll change my setup and gearing on the 03 Garayia that I've spent all week tuning for this race. Oh well my own fault as I should have known the update would change a fair few things. :-D

It means that you can boost the power to over the limit and turn it down. So we can now equalize weight and power, just as in the real world.

I haven't done extensive testing to see if there is an advantage to hopping them way up and then limiting the power way down, but you can certainly do that. The horsepower hits the limit and holds it to redline. But the torque drops off (due to the hp/torque formula). Remains to be seen if there is an advantage.

The de-tuned GT500 cars feel very strong at all revs (for a 355hp car) but the PP limit keeps them in line with the true GT300 cars as far as I can tell. My lap times with the GT500 590PP car are within my margin of error of the Arta. My best lap is still in the Arta, but my GT500 ran within a half second and I know I leave time on the table every lap, no matter what car I'm driving. :dunce:

One thing is certain, and that's the PP has to be limited.

hello last night I was playing and have an error for network i can not connect because it is an update 1.06 that have to be instaled. anybody have the same trouble, have been seeing the cars of gt300 and I think the autobacs is the one to try , if my network trouble is fixed il be ready for sunday, and I thing that the pp is the right way to mesure our power.

If we did go performance points (which I have to agree is a better way to go) would that override the hp. I only ask as I've been messing with my MR-S and its coming in at under 590pp but has got more than 355 hp.

What are peoples thoughts?

PP does not override horsepower. I've been tuning cars all morning to 355hp/1150kg/590PP. I have 30 cars that meet those numbers. 590PP is definately the sweet spot for this class.

I'm excited! Seriously, this new system is going to totally change the online experience. For the better.

If your MR-S is coming in under PP but over power it may be too light or it may need more aero. Also, make sure you have Racing Medium tires equipped. I have my MR-S tuned to meet the numbers.

But not EVERY race car can make 590PP with 355hp and 1150kg. There are a couple of cars I have tuned that I had to reduce the power under 355 to meet PP. I just figure those cars aren't competitive. I have 50+ other choices.

If a car comes up at 585PP with the hp and weight limits and max aero then there's nothing that says you can't run it that way.

You will have to do the update. You can't go online without it.

So is there going to be a HP weight and pp restriction then? Would be nice to get it nailed down what the new restrictions are.

I just set up my lounge to have a practice & noticed that if you restrict performance points, you cant restrict power & weight. One way around this is, if the host restricts pp & everyone goes to track, then host backs out restricts power & weight & re-joins without changing car or settings.

Sorry for my late reply, but I just go back from Spain... (+16 and sunny in Barcelona, -16 and snow when I landed here in Sweden).

I say we stick with the previously announced rules for Sundays race, but for next weeks race we agree on a new set of rules regarding PP.

It would not be fair to those who have been testing and tuning all week to have to change car because of a last minute rule change.

We could discuss how the new rules should be and have a test race or tow on Monday just to gain experience. That way we will know, not guess how it would work. Thats the most fair to everyone according to me.

Everyone ok with that?
