Well I agree that GT4 has amazing visuals & clarity for a PS2 game & the driving (with a wheel) was sort of intuitive, partly because the physics were overly simplified. However, I'm not really understanding your complaint about the driving view in FC. The bumper view is too low, but the bonnet cam works fine for me. I'm afraid you may be disappointed about the frame rate issues in online...

I think you may find when you reach the point where you are able to push the cars very hard through the corners, the physics & FFB in FC will start to be more impressive. Then, for real kicks, take the '58 250 Testa Rossa for a drive... 👍

OK, done. I hesitated to do it because I don't think it deserves to be mentioned as a separate track. (Can you tell I'm disappointed in the track list). But I will say, the thought of running Misano in reverse is scary. I see a lot of trips to the gravel before getting it right.

I thought this was supposed to be Supercar challenge, not Ferrari challenge........ Oh wait... there is a couple non Ferrari's in there :p

Yes, it looks like Ferrari Challenge Plus a Few Extra Super Cars.

I trust that's NOT the complete track list? :nervous:

Is it just me or does this look like a couple of months worth of FC DLC for $60? I hope that there is more or I may just skip SCC.

Yes, I'm afraid it is and I'm not very happy. :indiff:

So long as they made significant improvements to the game, I'll probably still buy it. The list of cars is fine but the list of tracks is bad joke. The forum administrator on the Eutechnyx boards insists they made a lot of improvements to all aspects of the game. He specifically mentioned a complete re profiling of Mugello.

I want to try them back to back before I draw any conclusions.

It's ONLINE I care about. Nowadays, offline play serves me the only purpose to know the handling, know the tracks and unlock the cars. It's online that makes me keep playing a game, so that's my main concern.

They should change the name from supercar challenge to Ferrari challenge 2. Are they going to have any Porsche's or Japanese cars? How about the Shelby Cobra or a few Lotus and a TVR or two?

Misano reverse is the course that bikes race on. I don't know if it's just bikes or if the track owners changed the direction for everybody.

I for one was quite surprised at the direction of the track in Ferrari Challenge and I wondered at the time if that was the correct direction for cars or if the developer had got it wrong based on old information.

Adding the oval's to the existing rovals is a bit of a no brainer. I don't know what Southern Silverstone is either. The tracks at Silverstone are GP, International, National and Club.

I really don't mind the car list too much. I'd rather have only a dozen cars IF they're accurately modeled. We all tend to gravitate toward our favorites anyway and if Eutechnyx has improved upon some of the models that needed it, and the new cars are properly detailed, then I'm satisfied. Although the irony of the title and how they refuted suggestions that this wasn't going to be 'just an update' to Ferrari Challenge aren't lost on me. I guess Ferrari Challenge & More doesn't sound quite as nice.

For once i feel differently to you JJ. I find the car and track list very dissapointing. I was expecting more variety. Dont get me wrong i will probably still pick it up. Would have been nice to see a Roush Mustang....or NSX....or Lotus....TVR's....lots i can think of. I hate how they have included the same tracks and Ferraris as FC, it's like we didnt need to buy FC.

Ah well. I suppose they may still add to this...

Since I can't feel comfortable - or competent - taking turns from the 1990's car views these games have, I doubt I'll do much online racing in FC or SCC. I watched the video, and the new cockpit view is pretty meh. Look, this is the 21st Century... WHY can't developers give us a freaking driver view we can tailor to OUR LIKING?

I dunno, I'll probably pick this up. But with the storm clouds of GT5 looming in the distance, if this doesn't hit the shelves half a year before it, I might wait quite a while. Doing the Nurb with skittish mid-engined supercars and bad driver views just doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe I should join those forums and grouch...

Oh no doubt. And don't get me wrong. I'm not exactly 'happy' about it. But I wouldn't call it a disaster either.

I guess my over all feeling is this. Ferrari Challenge was an excellent title that did many things right but unfortunately suffers from a number of fundamental flaws. Perhaps there were just too many to fix and correct via patches. Everything in SCC has supposedly been improved:

- online lobbies (hopefully) won't collapse
- the graphics are much improved
- the sound is improved
- lots of little details have been fixed or tweaked.

A lot of the improvements are from suggestions made in the Eutechnyx forum and from feedback they've taken from other sources. So in a way, I feel like many of us have been 'alfa' testers for this title for many months.

Exactly HOW much it's an improvement over FC remains to be seen. If the 550M still drives like a bloody tractor or somebody's car starts bouncing up and down on-line, I'll be the first one swearing. But if it manages to take everything FC did and make it better...👍

Just so I understand this: these are "additional" tracks PLUS all the ones that are already in FC?

I take it that the Nurburgring is NOT the Nordschleife? If it is ... I'm ecstatic.

If the game has much better graphics, no bouncing cars or collapsing lobbies, a few extra cars, a few extra tracks & a few other tweaks & irefinements: I'll be happy. If the Nurburgring means the Nordschleife: I'll be ecstatic.

Tenacious: like jjaisli I'm completely mystified as to what driver view you are looking for: leaning your head out the window, standing upside down on the roof, perched on the side mirror? Please clarify.

.....

Maybe it's what you refer as "Club", I don't know. However, in TRD3 (don't know if you played that one), the versions of Silverstone were the same we will get in SCC.

Check the Silv. South track map in this page, may take a while to load (TRD tracks) however if you use a dialup connection.

PS - Will any game in the future repeat the amazing track list of TRD3 .... :guilty:

No. :indiff:

Me too. :) Sort of. :sly:

I can't shake the thought that I would be paying $120 for SCC. Considering that GT5 will be costing around $100, I'm not sure it is worth it. One thing that I can say as this will not be a day one purchase for me. I'll wait and check out the reviews and how people like it. It will also depend on how close the release date is to GT5 and Shift (and the reviews for Shift).

What about Monaco and the other tracks that they promised for FC?

If the devs would give me a cockpit view which was like real life, that might be ideal. But since that seems to be some kind of black magic, my ideal view is roof cam. It gives me a view of the track that's the closest to real life. It gives me peripheral vision of the side of my car. Because GT seems to be the only game to have it, it seems to be the only game I'm really in a virtual driver's seat. Every other game is just a video game to me. You can tout superior physics all you want, but if you can't put me into the car and on a track, all the physics in the world is utterly worthless to me.

So, you're really, really tall, & you drive a car with the sunroof open & your head sticking out the top? Cool...

I'm not sure what cockpit view you want: FC's is too far back & "cramped", GT5P's view is pretty good IMO but still a bit far back. SCC's "dashboard" view looks about perfect to me. The ideal thing, of course, is a 3 screen set-up that offers peripheral vision.

What about Monaco and the other tracks that they promised for FC?

Monaco is "Riviera".

As long as the game includes all the old tracks PLUS these new ones, I'm OK with it. It's at least better than Forza 2 which actually had LESS tracks than Forza 1.

I'm relieved that they're keeping all the vintage Ferraris. Yes, it really does look like FC2 rather than a new game, but at least it looks likely to continue all the good things about FC - my worst fear is that it would be a new game like GRiD vs Toca 3.

Hmmm. Well, I agree with you in the sense that the views in FC leave much to be desired. The bumper cam is useless. It's fixed 30 cms above the road. You can't find the apex and it makes you feel like you were shrunken down and driving a mini-sized car. Goodness knows what they were thinking. But I find the bonnet view a little disorienting and too low as well. And I don't like the in-car view simply because it seems a generation behind the visuals of GT5P (but then again, what doesn't).

That said, when I play GT5P I don't like the roof cam view either and I find nothing desirable or innovative about it. In fact it reminds me of 80s style arcade racers. Just like the bonnet view is too low, I feel the roof cam makes me feel like a circus bear.

I'm still hopeful that the 'hood' view in SCC will be the view to have.

So, you're really, really tall, & you drive a car with the sunroof open & your head sticking out the top? Cool...
And I guess millions of people drive duct taped to their bumpers, or hang gliding from their cars? Come on now.

I played GT3 mostly from my personal helicopter, but after a while, I started to glue myself to the front bumper. A bit of a headache when I rear ended other cars but othewise everything was fine :dopey:

LOL.

I'm just not sure what your "ideal" view is Tenacious. All the views leave something to be desired, but to me, the new "dashboard" view in SCC looks about right.

Sigh... it's like I'm speaking esperanto to you guys. Never mind, I'm done.

The dash view looked pretty good. I usually don't like cockpit views. They just take up to much of your field of view. Driving a real car isn't like that. In GT I like the bumper view but it is too low in FC. The bonnet view is still a little low but is the best for me in FC. Tenacious: what do you not like about the dash view?
