I like the dash you show here, get those gauges working. At least the tach and speedometer, all you need is 2 rev burners and they are very cheap. You've seen those guys in the iRacing forums. In the thread you posted your rig look at the guy with the dash, it is incredible.

You race with PC games, they are heads and tails above consoles and what they offer. You obviously have the skill to take it to the next level.

Which thread are you referring to? I've been trying to find more with real dashes, but haven't had any success. Unless one got posted recently in the iRacing forums.

I think I probably will do working gauges, but I think I will go with aftermarket. Most racing cars rev above 7-8k, so I'd like to get a basic looking 10k or so tachometer. That will come a little later, after everything else is situated.

Got one screen test fit tonight. Can't fit the other two yet because I'm still waiting on my projector mounts to come in the mail. Hopefully they'll be here tomorrow, but even then, I'm probably not going to be able to get everything finalized for another 5 or 6 days due to working 12hr shifts and family time. The single projector isn't aligned, I just stacked up a few boxes and did a quick alignment, but it's still way off, once I get my mounts everything should be perfect.

The flash from the camera washes out the picture, in real life it looks amazing, once I get everything fit, I'll post a video. What I love about these projectors is they stay bright and clear in a well-lit room.

It's the thread at iRacing where you showed your rig, yes he just posted his dash like yesterday.

Get a tach that has 11k, the Lotus79 revs out at 11k and there are a few others at iRacing that have this range. I purchased a new Auto Meter 6858 it comes with a shift light. I payed $300 for it.

Just make sure when you do get a tach you set it to a four cylinder, then 4,6 and 8 cylinder engines will work.

Got my dashboard today, it was missing the stereo trim, but at $40 for the complete dash, driver's side door panel, and center console, I'm not going to argue. Just have to hunt down the trim piece now, shouldn't be too bad.

Left888: That is a good idea, but I'm not going to spend that much money on a tach. If I get one it will be an eBay $50 special, just have to find a 4" that goes to 11k. Same with a speedometer. Then I just have to find a nice place to mount my SLI-Pro above it.

Got all three screens mounted, will post a picture in a minute. Still waiting for my projector mounts.

Ya that tach is pricey, I searched all the Auto Wreckers in town and they searched around. Trouble is they want to sell the whole dash, not just the tach. I think I should have looked in the States for one. I think you are well on your way, just don't rush it. My rig is going on a year old and I have a ways to go.

I think my next step is 3 42" screens, pretty much for PC only. I'll keep an eye on your rig, watching someone build a rig is almost as fun as building one.👍

Bah, one of my projectors is bad. Have to send it back for replacement, should have the new one within 2 weeks or so hopefully.

I'll use this opportunity to start putting together plans for my new cockpit build. This one will be my final version for a while. It will be built to accommodate the CSW as well as my CST pedals whenever they get here. Also trying to plan out a way to build the computer hardware right into the rig as well.

bummer.... could be a blessing. Maybe now you'll have even more focus on the project. I mentioned to a friend to not to mount his wheel in his rig when he got it if it wasn't finished, because he would never finish. 3 months later still not done.

Yeah, you are right about that. I've been wanting to do quite a bit of stuff, but keep getting distracted.

So I'll be finishing two projects over the next few weeks.

1) Building 3 projector stands so I can have a little more freedom to move them around where I need to.

2) Complete cockpit rebuild

Oh, and this is at it sits now:

This is just to illustrate the screen size, as the cockpit will be changing completely.

What is the angle between the sides and the centre screen? Did you come up with these settings alone or did you read something to help you set this up? If read from another source could you link it please?

Ummm, I haven't set it up completely yet, so I'm not sure what angle I'm going to have. I had 45 before and liked it, but I go a little different this time.

Got my dash mostly pieced together, just missing one small piece. All parts will be restored, painted, or covered in carbon vinyl. The construction happens this weekend. :)

Controls will be stripped out and replaced with buttons/LCD screens/switches/etc.

I have never been to a wreckers I live in British Columbia (Vancovuer) what does a interior/dash go for, IMO that would be sick in my cockpit and would be super cool if I could find a RHD setup

I paid $40 for everything. Think I'm going to go back and buy the seat for $25 as well. My Sparco seat is starting to tear and creak already.

Can't wait to see this progress SB.

I live in Alberta and Auto Wreckers out here are very expensive, there are networks of Wreckers and if you can find a good company they'll give you a good deal. Otherwise get set to pay a lot.

If this keeps up, all the simracers out there are going to eat up the parts I need for my real cars! :)

Keep up the good work representing Seattle, man.

Oh man, this looks like it's gonna be a pretty sweet cockpit! Can't wait to see the final product!

Hi superbike81, I sent you a PM in regards to your Aura bass and Dayton amps. Can you help me? :)

Nice dash, look forward to your updates but man thats going to be a lot of work.

It seems like it would be a lot of work but I don't think it will be any worse than it was to build my original cockpit. Maybe even a little easier since there aren't going to be any intricate shapes to worry about. The base is going to be a basic rectangle built from 2x4's and 1x4's which the dash and door panel will bolt to. I'm building the front to house my computer motherboard and components as well which may be slightly challenging. Also building the mount for the wheel will take careful planning and measurements to ensure the base is very sturdy. Also getting all of the individual buttons and switches wired and mounted will be tedious, but not difficult.

I'm trying to figure out something to use for the floor. I wanted diamond plate but it's expensive so thinking about a nice non-slip industrial rubber mat material. The basic construction will be complete this weekend, but finishing touches will be done over the next week or two (or more). In the end, it will look much more well finished and less "racecar bed" than it does now but it will also be MUCH more functional.

Screen mount is custom built by a new company called FastTrackSims. They are working on their website now but you can get them on Facebook or email. m a r k @ f a s t t r a c k s I m s . com. (Without all the spaces of course). Mark was wonderful to work with, I'll be doing a full review once I get my cockpit done this weekend.

Decided to change my order for pedals. I was originally going to get the GT style hanging pedals, but decided to go with the CST F1 pedal set instead. They are more expensive, but they will fit my cockpit much better and I like floor mounted pedals better anyways. The F1 pedals aren't on the main website currently, so you have to email to order them. Still quite a long wait though at 2-3 months.

I got the wide brake upgrade and stainless pedals upgrade, will be just like this but no adjustable foot plate.

Were did you get these pedals from? CST? BTW thanks for the PM.

Nice looking pedals there! Not GT5 compatible I'm guessing right?

...I'm trying to figure out something to use for the floor. I wanted diamond plate but it's expensive ....

Carpet seems a natural fit. That's what was paired with that dash, right ? I also think it would "feel" best to your feet ie no stiction. Regardless, your parts, plans and progress look pragmatic, purposeful and promising.👍

Scotty

Automotive carpet does make the most sense, but I'll have to custom cut it myself, the carpet in the car wasn't the right shape for the cockpit. I'm just thinking rubber for durability, with the new pedals I will have to wear shoes, so I wanted something very durable. If I can find some decent automotive grade carpet at a good price I'll use it. Gonna do some browsing around this weekend to see what I can find.

Now that's a serious set of pedals, really nice superbike.

I noticed in you previous pic of your multiscreen setup was maybe a bit too close.
Will that be chnging or are you wanting to keep it real close like that?
