Surprise Cars

I have yet to discover any surprising cars, but what I was surprised by in GT3 was the Clio Sport Race Car. Sure they look hella small, and make you automatically think it's a slow car, but packin' 500+ HP, it was great with handling at high speeds. My brother and I raced this car, with a Lotus Elise Sports Car, and the Clio beat it everytime.
 
Good: Esudo Pikes peak version
Very much improved since the last game. YOU CAN ACTUALLY TURN!!! :dopey:
- viper gtsr concept- so fast and easy to aquire

Bad :Caddilac Cien- while your shifting the other cars are pulling away
 
good: 76' golf 1 GTI... blasted around the ring in 9:54 in this! awsome^^ I have wanted old VW's since GT1! (original beetle is fun too! have to downshift going up the hills just like RL lol)

bad: I imported credits and bought a lotus 7/chateram fireblade... opps can't race it! they should put a warning on it..... hey I just thought of something.. maybe you can race it in special conditions hall? 1vs1 races?

BAD: damn I'm at work no GT4!!!

My AI driver is doing the 2nd leg of the 24 at the ring right now. I left him with 13 hours left - in the lead.

if you do that do you just leave it on normal speed? I thought doing it on 3x speed would be cool but once your car pits it comes out of the pits in normal speed. unless I am missing something. 💡

Good - BMW M3 Race car, since when did they ad rails on the track?? i swear i can put this thing anywhere on the track and it doesnt care.

Bad - Zonda, still cant stop it unless you brake it half way through the straightaway

Ugly - AI, still thinks that it is the only one on the track, if your just in front of an AI driver and brake a a bad spot, expect to get crammed in the @$$.

I agree the BMW M3 Race Car is a dream to drive!
 
Lexus IS 300 Sport Cross and IS 200!! Can someone plese tell me, where to find these cars??
 
Good:

The Minolta 88C-V, my god, what a joy to drive. It's sick going down the Amalfi Coast at 220.

A closer runner up, for me, is the Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR, stock, no mods, it's a great drive

also, although it's not a car suprise, the 1080i mode, on a front projector...*drool* :)

Bad:

Saving up cash for the Cerbera Speed 12 and a turbo to kick it up to 1100 HP...then realizing..oh no, I can't replace the tranny. That car sucks with that much power.

honorary mention, finding out that i could make a ton of money re-running the amalfi coast race....and then the german tour...too easy now :)
 
The M3 GTR Race car is a dream to drive, but I expected that so not big suprise to me.


But the car that really suprised me was the 120d. I bought it pretty early in the game and almost immediatly hoped I wouldnt regret it. After all the 1 series challange wasnt a big money maker. But I found the 120d to have textbook handling, I was hitting the best lines every race. I took it into the Euro Hot Hatch race and just annihilated the competition with it. Big fun, from a diesel. I think the big torque really helps it coming out of the corners at lower RPMS.
 
Good: Fully modded Honda Insight will do the 'Ring in around 9:00... Sound of an Integra Type-R with the Spoon racing exhaust...

Bad: Caterham Fireblade. Wheelspin into 6th when it's fully modded...Booo!

Good: The EK9, for an FF it has great handling.
Bad: Ford GT, is it me or does this thing refuse to slow down?
Ice Rallying... It's pretty hard to get good at it.

Yeah I am very disapointed about how the Ford Gt seems to be very brake retarded.... :grumpy:
 
Wasn't Gran Turismo great because of it's tuning options? Like INCREASING BRAKE POWER??? :crazy: :indiff: 💡
 
Good:
'73 Mitsubishi Lancer - mildly tuned is a blast to smoke the Japan Compact Cup. Good clean FR action.

MCoupe BMW - again, mildly tuned w/R3 tires a beast in the M-Cup

Renault Maxi Rally car - sounds great untouched, just keep the revs up and the turbo spinning, otherwise turbo lag.

Evo 8 MR - FULLY tuned it dominates the Special Conditions.

'01 Civic Type R - FF heaven and looks good too.

Bad:
worthless concept vehicles that you cannot race in a series, and have no resale value.

Caddy's were all about power back in the day. Hell they had 500 CID (8.2 litre for you metric folks) back in 1970, 30 years before the Viper did.

This is sarcasm, right???

That wasn't about power! That was about the car ('70s Caddy) being able to even get out of its own way. It weighed over 4000 pounds, and those 8+ liters made under 200 HP! All that plus 13 MPG!! The early smog-control days were not pretty.
 
I was surprised to drive the Cadillac CIEN I took it out on Nurburgrign and it just flew through the corners.

I was also surprised to see that the mercedes McLauren is a terrible car I couldnt get it to 200mph like its supposed I thought the mercedes Gullwing was better but thats just me.

Bad: No Fiero I mean come on the only MR car for the masses made in america I would give up an old Japanese car they put in that no one will ever use for this car.

I'll have to agree with that. I own an '88 Fiero, wonderful car. Had to buy the '86 MR2 SC just to get something similar in GT4. Got a red one and put gold 10-spoke wheels on it like mine, just need a little bit of imagination when I'm racing it.
 
wfooshee, the caddy 500's made about 490 horse and 500 torque stock. They can be tuned to 900 in each for about $2000. I do not know where you got the 200 number from, cause that is about 40% of what they made.

The mercedes SLR mclaren and the Holden Monaro are both cars that i love in GT4 and are better than i thought they would be

you know, cars you probably never would have driven but had to to finish a one make race or something, and end up loving it, and also any car you were itching to try and turned out to be crap.

for me: the good surprise
Chrysler Crossfire (fully modified, with a big fat wing on it)
Chaparral 2J '70 (sp?) absolutely hideous, but handles a dream, and she flies... now i gotta try the 2D ;)

bad surprise
The 24 hour endurance races and the European Events "1000 Miles"
these things make me want to go out and buy a cheating device

you can do the 24hr races in 8 hrs if you want to..... 💡
 
focus rs is nice one it allmost fells like rearwheel drive...and mb evo full mods is nice one too..
 
A few from some notes I've been taking:

Good surprises:
BMW M5 - I remember hearing a few complaints about the concept in earlier games. Stick N3 tires on it, take it to the 'Ring, and it's heaven.
787B - I remember it being a good handler in GT3, but it's flawless here. I can't stop running it.
Mustang GT - Who would've expected the live-axle to actually handle the 'Ring flawlessly?
SLR - I really was planning not to like this car. But it's an excellent road car.
Model T - The 1886 cars were obviously novelties. This thing's actually pretty fun. Put N1 tires on it and be amazed at how well it responds to mid-bend throttle lift-off.

Bad surprises:
Zondas - The brakes have actually got worse.
Evo VIII MR - Stock, it feels like a front-driver.
TVR T350c - On any other track, it's probably great. On the 'Ring, it's uselessly crap.
Clio V6 P2 - It handles like the P1 did in GT3 :|.
Honda Element - Longest. Gears. Ever.
