787B - I remember it being a good handler in GT3, but it's flawless here. I can't stop running it.

Dude... you've GOT to be kidding. Default settings or did you customize it? Cuz for me the opposite was true. In GT3 it ate everything, now it OVERsteerZ like a Subaru 360! :D

Got any settings for the 787b?

THE GOOD

-Engine Noise: I have seen lots of people complain that the sound of the cars is poor. But I love them. Most of the cars I've driven so far I have loved the sound of. One of the best features I've noticed with the sounds is if you drive into a tunnel in bumper cam, you can hear the outside noise echo-ing around you. Amazing! But anyway, I'm currently in love with my supercharged Corvette ZO6 with Racing Muffler...it's like music to my ears...
- The courses: Nurburgring, El Capitan, Infineon and Le Sarthe are absolutely brilliant. I can't stop doing family cups in my newly won stock cars on Le Sarthe and the Ring. I especially like Le Sarthe 2 - Blasting my car down the straight while slipstreaming an AI car, absolutely brilliant to watch in the replay.
- Cars: Buick Special
Chevrolet Chevelle
Lotus Carlton
TVR T350s

THE BAD

Courses - There are a few courses that I can't stand, the first which springs to mind is New York, then Hong Kong, and Fuji 2005.
Used Car Cycles - It's not anything big, but I'm getting bored of waiting for certain cars to pop up in the Used Car lots.
Cars - None! I love them all!
The "P.I.T" manouver: As in, pushing a car at its left or right rear causing it to spin. It kinda annoys me, even though its releastic. Having this done to you while travelling nearly 200mph at the end of the Le Sarthe straight doesn't look to good. Believe me, it's bad.

the lexus cars are in the lexus dealership in the american city

my 2 cents

good : goin "neck" style dirt rally in the ram 1500 hemi one of the best dirt rally cars in tha game.

a second nod to the DMC DeLorian omg wow what a great car when fully modded realy spankin fast and great handling for its power class.

the 437 cobra being fixed and no longer handling like its got greased wheels

lotus elise 111r need i say more?

being able to have 1000 cars in my garage. i dont think anyone is mad about the extra storage space ;)

the bad:

no racing mod :( but the wing addition is better than nothing

tire limitations on most races to sports tires only ( what were you thinkin PD? oh yeah difficulty.. too bad the AI still cant drive tho )

the 5 second penalty. while not super bad it would have been better if the computer was subject to the same thing tho im quite tired of the computer ramming me and i get penalized.

the pleathora(sp?) of skylines OMFG!!!!!!! do we realy need 47 diffrent ones? what a waste of cars in this game ( prolly not frowned on by the devs cuse of the time saved not having to model diffrent cars and being able to use basicly the same model for 47 cars

the bad exsplination of tunig settings and their effects agian most likely a time saver "oh we dont need to put out a tunig manual or add it in the game book borders will put out a statagy guide for that" real lazy guys

special cars ... sigh... yay i have a racing game that i cant race in with these eyecandy cars WTF is the point of a car that you cant race or sell .. can you say retarded

and finaly no 75% compete car reward? what gives? were the 8 some odd delays for the release not enough?

i could add something about the shaky screen at start of races but no one listens anyway

now i know my bad list is biger than the good and strayed off topic a bit but i do LOVE this game i still have GT1, 2, and 3 in my games i regularly play so dont think i dont like the game ;)

What caught me by surprise was that they fixed the Ford Lightning. You look at the specs its says FR instead of 4WD. Good job GT crew.

Only times I've driven it were an Arcade stint around the 'Ring, and the 1-lap Magic Driving Mission with it @ Laguna Seca. Both times it was telepathic.

The XLR is a Cadillac. From my understanding they were forced to use the Corvette engine, because a 5.7 litre Northstar that they planned on, would have made it more powerful than a Z06 could dream about. Only once has GM released a car that could out run a vette from the showroom, the 1992 Pontiac Firehawk. A "mistake" they correted the next year by neutering the Firehawks. From my understanding the Syclone, GNX, GN's, and TTA were all capable of it, but detuned to a point where they wouldn't, at least till the wastegate and timing were adjusted to where they should have been.
The CTS-V has a LS6 400 hp 5.7L ZO6 engine and is about .6-.8 slower in the ¼ mile.
The STS and XLR have a 320 hp 4.6L Northstar.
The STS-V and XLR-V will have a 440 hp 4.4L Supercahrged Northstar, 60 hp less then the new ZO6 will have. I have never heard of a 5.7L Northstar and I doubt anyone was ever too worried about a Cadillac being faster then a ZO6.

In a ¼ mile
I don’t know if a 1987 GN is faster then a 1987 Corvette.
A 1987 GNX is faster then a 1987 Corvette.
A 1989 TTA is faster then a 1989 Corvette.
I think a 1991 Syclone is faster then a 1991 Corvette.
A 1992 Firehawk is faster then a 1992 Corvette.

You cant simply adjust the wastegate on a syclone to increase boost as the stock boost of 14.7 psi is already at the limit of what the 2-bar map sensor can read, if you increase boost past 14.7 the truck will run lean because it can not see the extra boost. You have to get a 3-bar map sensor from the TTA and a chip programmed for it to increase boost.

Just looking at tuned hp as the C5 ZO6 and Zonda Race Car are the only cars I have put many miles on,
I was disappointed with the GNX, Eclipse GT(GST), and MR2 GTS (why does this 3SGTE have 81 hp less then a 3SGTE in a Celica GT4 when tuned??)
And surprised by the Carlton, RS200 rally car, and ‘63 ZO6 Race Car.

Good: Alpine A310. I had it tuned to a slightly OTT 192bhp in order to deal with the quicker A110s in the Alpine manufacturer's races. Fun trying to stop the back end overtaking the front on every bend.

Mad (but not bad): Mitsubishi HSR prototype thing you win from the Japanese 1980's races. Worth switching to the behind-car view so you can see those bonkers spoilers flipping up every time you steer or brake. I used it to slaughter the Beginner Hall 4wd races.

Good:
Spoon S2000 & Civic Motul - Both acceletrae, handle and stop very well.
mk3 Toyota MR2 - for a mid engined car it never bites you if you life off in a corner.
BMW M3 - I'm not really a BMW fan, but I would really like to drive one in real life, after taking one for a spin round the 'ring.
Nurburgring - I just can't stop driving that track. In fact I use it as a benchmark to see how good a car drives before buying it in GT mode.

Bad:
Ford GT - the brakes are shocking
Lotus Elises - none of them seem driveable, and I can't imagine Lotus would make a car that twitchy through corners.
Any large saloon car eg BMW M5 - These large cars like the Holden do not suit my driving style, and I avoid them as best I can.

Cheers, Jamie

The Good:-
Alfa Giulia GTA - Even with stock suspension this little car handles flawlessly, just enough oversteer and extremely stable at high speed... well 125mph :)
BMW M5 - Great car, nice controllable oversteer and oodles of power.... Ugly as sin though.
McLaren SLR - I Don't care what anyone else says this car is a monster! Extremely predictable at speed and the acceleration is staggering even in stock fettle... Wish it oversteered a bit more though.
Lancia Stratos Rally car - It's as close as I'll get to driving a ferrari in GT4 (Dino Engine) and it doesn't dissapoint, a bit skittish at 155mph but for twisty circuits it rocks.
Golf Mk1 GTi - Pure fun, probably the best FF car in the game for me.
Audi Quattro '82 - I was looking forward to driving this car more than any other and it hits the mark nicely, handles surprisingly well for such a big car, would have loved it if the SWB version had made it into the game but this will do for now :D

The bad :-
Lotus Carlton - Just feels completely messed up, handles real manky and the traction is awful.
Ford RS200 - Doesn't live up to it's reputation at all, feels slow and cumbersome at best in comparison to the other group B cars.
RUF CTR 'Yellowbird' - What an infuriating car, it will be a long long time before I can get to grips with it.
Lancia Delta Integrale Evo - These used to be one of the fastest cross country 'b-road' cars you could get in their day, but in GT4 they feel like an Escort 1.1L, kind of gutting really.

I just read this entire great thread, and i was very happy to see different opinions about the cars... most of the complains were about stock cars or/and tuned stock cars...

in gt1, there were few LM cars and they were not that good, than in gt2 the stock cars really sucked when they were tuned, but without the racing modification... their salvage were the racing mods...

gt3 just pretty much gone beyond that, and without the racing mods, made things more complicated for the stock/ tuned stock cars...

the mitsubishi GTO/3000GT is a good example of that change. it was great in gt1, sucked in gt2, and was a piece of c*** in gt3 :yuck:

the point is... i´ve played very little of gt4, because my ps2 broke down, but it seems like the regular, stock cars are closer to the LM´s.... anyone agrees with me, or have some story to share? has anyone drove the GTO to give some light? thanks in advance, and sorry for the crappy english...

Yes but im at work, PM me and Ill give them to you later. Im still tuning a few things on it but the car is awsome. I B-spec'd the first 24H of LeMans and I beat the R8 in 2nd place by 8 laps and the C5R(in last) was over 50 laps down.

I AGREE I THOUGHT IN GT1 THE GTO KICKED A** BUT IT WAS C*** IN GT2 &3 BUT IVE BEEN USING IT IN GT4 AND IT HAS CAME BACK INTO SHAPE BUT ITS NOT ONE OF MY BETTER CARS IT A SHAME BECAUSE IT WAS SUCH A GOOD CAR FULLY MODED!!!!

Zardoz
Is there anybody reading this who is in any way surprised that KY and his boys have apparently screwed up these two American supercars deliberately?

The anti-American bias of the developers is open and blatant.

LOL

I just saw your post now. Man...funny silly little post, but shouldn´t be taken seriously I think!

Did you take your meds today?

Later dude 👍

heres a nice surprise car.. The ASL Garaiya.. that car stock (and mind me im a ****ty driver) pulled an 8:44.657 on the ring... plus the another thing.. it qualifies for the lightweight small car race in the japanese section (the one where you win the honda life step van)

im gonna let my bspec driver for a few laps on the ring.. see if he goes better than me (he should i sucked)

Good 👍

- All the Skylines (cant help it ive been a Sky fan since the R32)

- Le Mans (love the straight.. awesome speed testing area)

- Tsukuba, awesome track

- We Need More Mopar

- Volvo is in the game this time, to bad both the cars suck :D

Bad 👎

- Going back to a GT2 style menu (to many movements to get from one area to another) like tuning youre car, in GT2 it took long, in GT3 it was click away because it was in the main menu, and now again it takes to long..

- The lack of HKS cars, HKS is more known for their dragsters and less known
(well not by ricer kiddies) for their Drift car(s) with hella ugly 3 spoke wheels that you can't change.

- Way to many sucky concept cars that handle awefully, and are worth Zilch, i hate it when i spend an hour on a championship and win a car il never drive/use and wich i cant even sell..

- Not being able to choose youre oponents in a single race, when im running a Tuned Skyline i dont want to see some racecar against me, i want to see a similair priced car also tuned up to its fullest.. Subu vs Skyline and such, but not a LM car vs my Skyline unless of course i want to.. maybe in Gt5?

- Not having the ability to give youre regular car a Race Car upgrade..that alone got me hooked on GT2, just to find out what this Subu Legacy would look like with a Aero kit and racing decals.. i realy miss that in GT4, especialy because it basicly makes cas like the "Nissan Primera 2.0te" useless for me.. why buy it?!..

- Maybe a bit to ricey :D but if i buy Amuse Parts for my *shrug* Nsx i`d like to see a R1 exaust under the backside and not the stock exaust, same that if i buy a weight removal kit and it describes the bonnet being exchanged for carbon, i`d like to see that..(like i said maybe a bit to.. NFSU, but still i`d like to see those things).

- not having the ability to choose youre rim size, i mean 99% of the tuners in the world (and thats basicly what GT4 is..a tuning game) when buying rims will not go for the same size you already had, but go for less tire, more rim, i dont mean 21 inch and up, but i`d like to give my lil CRX a couple of 19`rs, or 18..

well thats basicly it :P oh yeah the 24 hour races suck :D and the Ford GT has the braking capabilities of a greased rhino going downhill on Mont Blanc

p.s. dont be to harsh on my spelling, and such, im only Dutch and i try my hardest to write "good"

ah, this is such a big improvement for a discussion board compared to gamefaqs.
this is grown up talk, people with intelligence, and maturity.

anyway, for me:

Good: the sub 3400mm cars, Honda Beat! gosh, i can't express how much i love this car. it makes me want to go live in japan and buy one of these used.

the M5 in the license test, i was expecting big, bulking sedan, but its cornering ability is sick for a 4 door sedan with +1700kg

the bad, having to tune cars, i've been playing Gran Turismo since the very first game of the serie on PSone, and i never knew how to tune properly, and most of the time, the cars you get from winning is never optimal(for general course). and i'm too lazy and impatient to go through trial-and-error to find the optimal setting.

Good-Mercedes D2 touring car prob my fav car in the game excellent handling on medium racing tires great performance never had trouble beating the cpu that had more hp than my car

Bad-Ford gt race car spec II I thought this was a supercar and that it could handle alot better than it those

Ugly- 👎 Option 350Z im glad i couldnt buy this car cuz i would have been had because its a peice of crap

good: the nissans such as the 910, the 510 and the farilady 2000, D1GP cars, the 2 door subaru wrx 2.5rs style

bad
the shifting on the CIEN  1 second up shifts are not fun 👎

JRizEJ6
i happen to like to styling of the cien :) my only problems with GT4 is the stupid autosave and the screen shake thing. thats a major problem overlooked by PD.

I think the Shakey thing is a great effect and helps add to the effect of high speed collisons. Im also getting used to the autosave feature as it gives the games a longer lifespan.

BAD! - NO SINGLE SCREEN REPLAY IN 2PLAYER MODE! WHYYYYY??????
- CANT CHANGE THE SIZE OF ALLOYS WHEELS ON THE CARS EITHER!

GOOD_ love photo mode, and the NURGURGRING!

The Good:
1. 1999 Skyline GT-R R34 MSpec...mine runs around 8.7 on the 400 after full modifications, super soft tires, nitrous power increase, automatic gear settings lowered, ride height lowered slightly, and a slight toe in on the rear. currently my fastest car on the 400 after only 5 minutes of tuning (most of my cars have less than 5 mins of tuning done as well)

2. AMERICAN MUSCLE - its good to see the LT1 camaro z28 of 1993-1997, the ls1 camaro ss, all of the older muscle cars. i would have liked to see the c6 vette, 1998 mustang gt and cobra, 2003 mustang cobra, 2004 mustang gt, all generations of the pontiac trans am, the 2005 pontiac gto as opposed to the '04, 1967 shelby gt500 (an eleanor clone would be *****in) and anything else american and sweet.

3. Nurb and Le Sarthe.

The Bad

1. the lightweight cars. they are worthless, useless, and very unentertaining to drive.

2. the humungous spoilers. im aware of the purpose they serve, but they only look good on race cars and supercars. maybe a few imports that are actually fast. put one of those wings on a camaro, and youre an idiot. try adding shorter spoilers, and perhaps adjusting their width to match the cars width.

Agreed.

In my opinion, you are missing the entire point and fun factor of the game. Many manufacturer races require you to know how to set up the car so you can win.

Another good surprise for me: the Suzuki GSXR Concept kills cars with twice the hp.

...and the TVR Griffith 500 sounds awesome!

I just bought a Spyker Laviolette.... wow... great car... not.

Maybe I'm not used to these expensive cars yet, but holy crap.... the car just doesn't seem to turn when you hit the brakes, only when you let go of the brakes it will turn fine, but while braking don't think of trying to go around a corner. So when braking just a little too late before the corner, trying to outbrake your opponent, you're doomed.

I haven't used that car yet, but I had that exact same problem with a car (Mclaren f1). The downforce was on full and the driving aides didn't solve my problem. It wasn't that the brake balance was too high because the car would spin just getting loose on a straightaway on Tokyo. So finally I figured it out: weight balance.

So I added 200 pounds all the way to the back to give it some weight so it wouldn't swing around. Guess what? It made it WORSE and I couldn't believe it. So just for kicks I shifted all 200 pounds to the front and.....ding ding ding car handles perfectly.

I did that Pan Euro championship and got my ass handed to me by an XJ220, a motorsport elise and the Zonda... I could stay in front of the Aston Martin and a TVR most of the time.... but it still blows that I lost that bad. I guess I'll soup up my M3 GTR and try it with that one. :dopey:

Well, I've ben singing the praises of this car across the board lately, so some of you may be tired of hearing it, but I had to get it in here.

My R32 Skyline GT-R Vspec II. I've ben a fan of both the R33 for it's styling, and the R34 for being the fastest of the GT-R's But the R32 just kindof sliped to the wayside. Maybe it was the better graphics that made me notice it, But looking for a good AWD car I picked out a nice looking black R32 GT-R that eventualy became my first fully moded car in GT4. Now I've done so much with it, and put so many miles on it, This car is a part of me now. It has a place if not right along side of, then over and above it's two siblings, and it will always be one of my favorite cars.

Good:

Formula GT cars
Drifting
more Japanese cars
Chaparral 2J, Fast but handles easily.
The photo mode is amazing.
and
the come-back of the Autumn Ring tracks.

Bad:

less american, european and aussie cars.
24 hour endurance and 1000KM races? You think you want us to race in one freakin' day?! Kazunori, just take it out in the next game. You're getting me tired and sleepy.
The AI kept on hitting us. I hope they're even smarter than this.
Penalties? Lame!
Those shaky effects just bugs me.
Driving missions? Absolutely lame.
No Ferraris and Lamborghinis, well duh.
No RUF Turbo R. That is even better than the RGT.
The Nike 2022, fake but more like a 4-wheel tron-cycle.
The soundtrack needs work, it doesn't have a single super eurobeat song in it. A guy gotta loves the super eurobeat songs, you know.
No Red Rock Valley, Schwarzwald and Tahiti Road anymore.
The used cars should be in the manufacturers instead of waiting for the color of the car you wanted.
The Tank car is too much and it's too long.
No GT500 Shelby, no 95 to 04 mustangs, no more Vector and no Scion tC!
and
No changing back the stock wheels. They should have bring back the wheels options so you don't have to buy another wheel for your other car.

OneEyedPimp20

I hate this part of the game too. :yuck:
