LYON, FRANCE - 5 May 2006 - Atari today announced that an exclusive demo for the highly anticipated racing game, Test Drive Unlimited, will be made available to users of the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, via the Xbox Live® Marketplace. The demo will be available to download from 8 May until 14 May 2006 as part of Microsoft's plans to bring gamers closer to the E3 experience and offer of free Xbox Live Gold membership for the week.

The demo grants players an exclusive chance to get behind the wheel of Test Drive Unlimited and sample some of its online and offline challenges along 40 miles of Oahu's beautiful open roads. To add a bit of spice, players will be able to replay all of the challenges as many times as they wish in order to shave valuable seconds off their time-challenge records, or set about thrashing either human or AI competition in the races before heading to www.testdriveunlimited.com to view their global ranking.

As a way of letting players find out for themselves what a Massively Open Online Racing game is, the Test Drive Unlimited demo will allow players to set up as many instant challenges as they wish. Players driving along the road can challenge other players to a one-on-one race, define their own start and end points for the race, and power through the lush Hawaiian scenery at break-neck speeds.

With a choice between the Ford Shelby GT500, Lotus Exige and Lamborghini Gallardo, a luxury-laden Lamborghini dealership to visit, and a beautiful house for each player who logs in, the demo offers players a mouth-watering taste of Eden Games' forthcoming automotive masterpiece.

I just saw the Shelby GT500 in the one of the videos on Gametrailers.com. Even though seeing that car had me really excited, the video was not that good. I wasnt impressed. Hopefully the next video of actual game play will be better.
 
I hope Atari sell a soundtrack of there game, the theme music is just so cool. And I bet MS's servers are going to get a hammering due to E3 06 buds.

I have PGR3 which is amazing but Test Drive looks very great, too.
Thanks for updating the carlist regularly and I hope we see a Bugatti EB 110 and maybe even more Lambos:drool: like the Diablo in which I was taked for a ride not long ago.

This game will be amazing..too sad we have to wait until September:ouch:

You know the Veyron is in game, anyway guys not long till the demo now. Its going to be fun to test the TDU demo out.

Oh man....

Maybe I'll just let it start before school tomorrow and come home to it. Any idea on how big it'll be? I'm guessing 1GB+. That'll be pushing my data allowance for the month......:scared:

The demo is around 500mb, so I'm sure you'll be fine. :)
 
I just watched the new trailer and it actually looks like its going to be a good game. Way better than the other trailer I saw. This trailer starts with a GT500!! :drool:
The online play sounds similar to Midnight Club 3 but even better. Keep us posted everyone about how this game is online.\

The game is pretty cool. I wasn't sure at first, but switch it to manual gears and it's better 👍 (I'm still not too keen on the racing). I like the aspect of just driving around normaly. Shame their servers are down at the moment...

Edit: HA! Got fined by the police. :sly:
