I played the 1st demo with Heather for a couple hours again this weekend. We were having fun seeing how far we could jump at the golf course. So far she had the longest and highest jump using the lambo. :)

Were you under a different name or are you able to view our driving while you wait in the lobby? I do not remember seeing your name while we were driving. Unless like I said, you can view us while wating in the lobby.

No. We know who joins the game because we always try to start instantly before anyone joins. You can see the names of everyone in the room. Only once in a while another person would join. I never saw TVR or I would have talked to him. :sly:

Thats cool you can watch us somehow from the lobby. I didnt know you could do that.
 
Hmmm, I think I'd like some sort of notification tbh, that way, you can go back to the lobby and let the person join you. Maybe, it'll be fixed in the oringinal game
 
I agree. Mabey something like in Forza where it at least shows their name joining. "TVR has joined the game" or "TVR is waiting in the lobby" Something like that. I am sure that will be finished in the final game.

I got 3-5 messages from friends asking us if it was the 2nd demo or the first demo. That happened because yesterday was the 20th and it was rumored that the 2nd demo was out yesterday. So everyone thought we were playing the 2nd demo. I just assumed you were wondering the same thing. You should have just asked to join.
All you said was "What are you 2 doing" or somethign similar to that. I just assumed you were wondering why we were playing Test Drive unlimited demo.

Have you played the demo with any friends online yet? I cant believe how fun this game is and I cant wait for the final version! Heather and I both already pre-ordered the game about a month ago. :dopey:
Even right now with the servers down you can still play online with friends.

Well I played the demo online , and as always playing online with real humans is fun to a certain degree. My problem is another one... I don't really care for graphics, but what I do care about is game structure and gameplay.

The handling of the cars is ok, nothing special though. The island looks all the same, unless you are a local, you won't notice a 20 miles beam. I mean, that's probably even realistic, but I wonder if a fictional island or area wouldn't have been a better idea.

Next thing is cars & tuning. I love tuning and I don't like supercars... So keep the Maseratis, Lambos and Ferraris and bring the 150-300 hp cars... of course then you need tuning, because nobody wants to race with slow cars forever... that's why I don't really like PGR3 and this game seems to follow a similar philosophy. You know, this "open island" feature is imo not that much better than the 8 player mode in PGR3. In the end it is pretty much the same, since you race against a handfull opponents and the fact that 5 miles away some other real human drives around is rather useless, know what I mean ?

So for me personally TDU might end up as a preety much average racer with inferior or without tuning options with cars that I don't like on an boring have-you-seen-one-part-you've-seen-everything-island.

I might be wrong though and since I can buy every game as Asian version for 35 EUR including shipping I might give it a chance, but personally I can't really understand all the hype... I don't think that this game is better than NFS MW, but of course I understand that people who love supercars, bikes and good graphics will love this game.
 
When I play the Test Drive Unlimited Demo I drive to the orange road area. I know you can create a race but it never seems to be multiplayer. Am I missing something? I would like to meet with some follow GTP'ers

After you go to multiplayer and create a room, just invite your friends in. Usually people will join you even if you dont want them in or even know them. :lol:

It never seems to go to a room though. It just starts a race against the computer. Anyone have a screenshot of where I'm meant to go or is it random each time you start?

You have to go to the checkered flag on your map. RIght when you leave your garage just hit right on the d pad and that brings up your map. Then when you go in there it should allow you to start your own room or join a room. After that people will probably join right away. Or invite your friends in. It should only take about 10-15 seconds total to have your room all set up.
When you leave your garage and pull the map up you will be at the bottom of the map. Just go up 1 then one to the right and you will be at the checkerd flag icon.
