The Lexus LF-A (I think thats the one) that people think is the new Supra isn't, as far as I'm aware, it's a Lexus only badged car.

Toyota build that car under the Lexus brand because of their succes in F1 the last years,

At first, they wanted to fit it with a 3.0L V10 engine, but since the rules in F1 has changed, it'll now be fitted with a 2.4L V8.

Still 500HP, Toyota says it should give the Ford GT some chiffers up it's ass 👍

NSX down, Supra down.

Two of Japans big three are down, so the Skyline has the new Japanese super-sport market to itself?

Honda's R variants are all well and good, but unlikely to compete with 400hp and 4WD.

It's not bad news in the slightest.

Would you prefer that the Supra lived on only in memories as the evil beast it was, or that they keep using the name on a succession of sanitised, stamped-out vom-wagons? Hell, knowing Toyota, they'll probably change the drive type 12 times, before eventually settling on FWD (Corolla joke).

It could be the XJ220 all over again.

I agree with Famine -- although I would love to see a new Supra, I doubt it would live up to its name, and would instead be boring and infested with electronic nannies. Just look at the IS350. :indiff:

100% agreed. The last gen Supra was one of the most beautiful cars in history--and with some serious performance to boot. To bring out a new version would just totally dimenish that and make the older gens cheap and there'd be less good conditioned ones for collectors to buy and more cheap ones that white teenage boys ruin.

ummmmmm... every lasting car gets massive makeovers every 5-10 years... to say you wouldnt want them to remake it, is like saying you wish they'd cancel every nice car, instead of redesign it.... they redesigned supra's before, so if they do it again (regardless of a break in production) it'd be no different than when any other car company updates, like the mustang every 5 years, or the vette 6 times... change happens - even BMW's :indiff:

I think that is one of the worst moves from Toyota with the Corolla. I haven't driven an AE86 but the vibe from enthusiasts and owners it's a fun RWD. The closest(maybe) I've gotten to that is driving my dad's TE72(it's a 83 Corolla SR-5 liftback:the pics are not my dad's car but looks exactly like it minus the clear corners and wheels>>http://members.fortunecity.com/daytona/te72gal/brad.html). We own also a AE92(4dr) and had a AE101L(4dr) which are good to get you from A to B(minus the fun). Now Toyota killed off the MR2 and Celica, which I think was the last of their sports(y) cars. I think they're slippin and I don't see much sport coming from the Scion brand. I do not consider the Tc a Celica replacement(I just picked up a 89 GT-S and love the car).

good.. that car was fat and ugly and lame anywho...

Especially the concept lexus with the "fans"...hahah..so stupid

And which car might you be talking about?? If you are talking of the Supra then you are ignorant. Even though I haven't driven one I'd regard the AE86 the best Corolla Toyota ever had, and consider it's design timeless, along with the S13 Silvia and FC3S(I'm a fan of the old school).

Depends on which series?
R34? Nope..not really to my liking..to gaudy..to much of an "escalade" of cars...
I think it's lame...Fat? not really..it doesn't "look fat" like the supra does..

So you haven't actually driven one, have you? It's still fun as could be, and you can trun off the traction control, believe it or not (there's a button marked TRAC OFF).

The "nannies" are there because every parent that buys one for thier 17-year-old is what's really looking out for thier child. These kids think they're trying out for imaginary D1 tournaments nowadays, so someone's got to look after them. The parents sure aren't, although they're quick to blame the product because Jennifer and Caleb don't drive that way when I, the parent, am around!

Long day, done ranting.
