That Turn That Scares You The Most (Nurburgring)

I suppose it's down to the car you're driving as to whether a bend scares you or not. I don't have a problem with any of them (including Bergwerk which is quite popular here), but if I do it would be the left hander after Fuchsröhre (Foxhole). It's deceptively fast and if you take too much inside kerb you'll end up sliding down the right hand barrier.

Flugplatz is the corner that I feel is the hardest, trying to keep the car stable as it lands is always a challenge.

Modulate the throttle as you reach toward the top of the hill, in highest gear, It won't shoot your car in the air, and you will enter the corner smooth sailing, as soon as you enter it safely, then downshift (if need) and blast off. Easy 210km/hr+
(slow down to 195-205 if car is in front, and suddenly appearing closer than object would in mirror), then use him to draft and pass safely on the LEFT. Honk your horn if need, and don't ever touch his car. (will cause virtual deaths if you do)

If anyone's interested, this is as good a place as any to post this track guide. Might help with some of the lines:

I love some of the comments, like on the downhill section from Aremburg to Fuchsröhre, 'Don't clip any of these kerbs.' - yeah, whatever! ;)

I have driven this track way too many times to count, but I HATE the carousel.:banghead::banghead: The corner just after the high speed section with the rediculous elevation change and the road surface change. every time I hit that corner I lose it. I have to stay high on that corner to survive with a minimal hit to my lap times. If I drop to the lower part of it, it's over. I use a DFGT, but I have difficulty tuning my cars for that corner. The rest of the track I got nailed, but that corner just SUCKS for me.
My current project... (1800 miles ago by the way) is an RX-7 TC. I got the car tuned up to fly around that track, but that corner always throws me off.

It isn't that hard. The way I do it is to go down to the 2nd gear, keep my speed under 100 km/h, and control the amount of throttle so the car don't spin.

I use a DFGT too btw.

I change my mind, the turn that scares me most is the last turn of the last lap. I hate having to finish races. lol.

What really scares me is how easy you can screw up a flying lap when you lose just a bit your driving line. There is not a single corner scary 'per se' but just the track as a whole. Love it by the way.

schwedenkreuz

I don't why its so hard. I mean its a highspeed small turn. If I do make it past this turn I feel like I went to slow and if I go slightly faster I crash. I hate it lol.

Never done it in GT5, but in every other game with the 'Ring, I've always dreaded this one corner near the end, it seems like Pflanzgarten II.

All I know is, it's got this crest that always seems to unsettle the car RIGHT before a gear down right-hander. I'm usually able to get it fine, it's pretty easy, but it never fails to make me crap myself when I see it coming.

Well..I don't really have any corners in particular that "scare" me..It all depends on the car, power level and tire choice. Really driving an Aventador on Comforts makes every corner scary...

Some of my FAVORITE (Meaning I like them, not being sarcastic) are..
1) Wehrseifen
2) Hoche Acht
3) Wipperman -> In any race, I gain lots of time here.

Corners that make me nervous
1) Bergwerk - Only with certain cars, and degraded tires. For the most part It doesn't bother me
2) Fuchsrohre
3) Pflanzgarten

If you're not familiar with corner names, Use this helpful video below

Bergwerk, that corner makes my confident go away, to the point where I will understeer or oversteer depending on the transmission of the car. I haven't really got the best settings for any of my cars for particular corner. Just have to decelerate or countersteer if I need to.

I'm not really scared of any corner. The only thing that scares me at the ring is when overtaking someone. That's a thriller every time.

You know what a thrill is? Going from Bergwerk to Klostertal.

At night,

Flat out,

Side-by-side with someone else.

No contact. No crashing. Clean, fast, side-by-side racing. I can say now, I will never be able to pull it off again. Ever. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and Im pretty sure the other guy was too.

Easily the combination of Wehrseifen, and the tripple apex right hander right before it.

The right hander is a big one for me, cause the road is incredibly narrow there, the corner exit point is TOTALLY blind, and of course the 3 different apexes. For the longest time, i'd just over cook the **** out of it (since you're normally coming in 5th gear flat out), run wide, back left tire into the grass, rest is history.

Then with Wehrseifen, my line is normally to come in past the first apex, late brake and kick the back end around, then roll full throttle and hit the second one, but it seems like some days I can do it consistently, and others it's hit or miss. Pretty much everything that can go wrong does go wrong for me in that corner: Drift it good, but roll throttle early and spin out; hit the brakes too early, and wind up either facing the inside wall, or hitting the apex so early that I cut it off ENTIRELY; Not doing a good job of quickly getting back off the brakes, and running wide; braking too hard and going into the wall; kicking the back end out but getting the backend into the grass and spinning out.

****, it took me a while to figure out that combo. Lately i've been getting it pretty good though, although the latest WRS challenge is giving me troubles with it again (i think the butterflies are just ****ing with my nerves though, since it's like halfway through an 8 minute lap).

EDIT: The quick left after the high speed section that approaches Caracciola's bend always gets me too. The one before the two rights that lead into the Carousel. It's one of those corners where if you take it too slowly, it just totally ****s up your entire lap (since it's in the middle of a high speed section), but the braking point there is pretty vague. It seems like the best way to do it is to just BARELY drag the brakes and then apply maintenance throttle, but there's virtually no rumblestrip there (save for like a half foot wide cobblestone strip), so the line between taking it perfectly and taking it wide is pretty fine.

Turn10 because they are a awesome Sudio like Slightly Mad Studios (pCARS - SIM) and PD (GT Franchise.

I think Nurnburgring has some difficult Turns, but non of them scares me the Most. Mh i have to think about it.

Nice Thread BTW :)

You'll never get enough air at Flugplatz to not be able to turn in for Schwedenkreuz. But you must be on the right line before you get air. If you are going in the wrong direction in a fast car you often won't have enough time to get back on the right line to be able to turn in. The entry point for that corner is extremely precise. So... if you are headed to the left side of the track when you catch air, slow down more so you can take the corner.

If you mean Quiddelbacher-Höhe(the jump slightly earlier before the right turn), that one is a bit closer to the corner and so in some fast cars I find you do need to actually start to decelerate before you hit the crest. Braking in mid-air doesn't really help matters. :)

Not that I don't crash in both places plenty. I'm not sure if there are any corners left on the Nordschleife I haven't crashed at. But I have seen a lot of people try to force the issue at Schwedenkreuz when there is no possible way they can take it, even though they could easily get through if they would just back off.

EDIT: For me I'd say my bane is probably the chicane at the very end. There's plenty of corners I mess up, but that's the one I'm most likely to just plain kill myself at. For a long time I basically considered it a "controlled crash" so I focused on just surviving it, to hell with the time. But eventually I learned to take it correctly so now I still crash there because I'm always trying to go too fast.

In a 2J you will fly right off of Flugplatz. I hate Aremberg when I take Schwedenkreuz at 350+ kph in a LMP and then brake too late and end in the sandpit.

The Carousel, I'll always spin out there if I'm not in my P4 (A car I know like the back of my hand), and that little hill crest right before Flugplatz.

I'm gonna go with the first turn at the Daytona Road Course. I honestly don't think it's possible to take that turn perfectly.

Schwedenkreuz and Aremberg can get me when really pushing it. That late blind left turn at Schwedenkreuz also rises and falls a bit and it turning, with any late braking, along with the cars weigh rolling laterally but also high speed body lift and fall witch really can effect the way the car feels and handles going around it above 140mph+ can made palms sweat but after that I know I can run the rest and I feel good about lap and the road ahead.

If I feel like I did not do good there at Schwedenkreuz, damn near nailing it then it can really effect how well I prepare for Aremberg either braking too late and end up in sand deep or push Schwedenkreuz too hard and end up too the right in the grass.

Next not difficult but surely dose make me on my toes is the Kesselchen straight at above 160mph+ in pretty much anything.

,,Eschbach" short before ,,Brünnchen". Here at minute 8:08:

Because in this corner the back of my car overtook me, in the
wet last year, at my first 8 rounds at the real Nordschleife. ;)
Was the bad wheels i guess ... bought better ones for this year.

I've nearly forgotten Pflanzgarten, I always get nervous there because you can go full out, but going too fast here often cause me to overshoot the upcoming braking point and land into the sandtrap. :ouch:

It is thrilling.

Schwedenkreuz. It's the only turn that if I don't have enough confidence on the car, I will take it 20km/h slower than it's needed just to be safe.
