While watching the GC gt5 videos i noticed some key features in the New AI

#1 The AI now spin out. which means you can fish tail them. and they can fish tail you. "Note the Silver RX7 at the beggining in one ign video. The RX7 spun out and ran into the guard rail just before the first turn in Tokyo . so no more Rail car's it seems.

#2 The AI seem to Have anti-lock breaks turned off. note that in every video all the cars braking have smoke flying out of the back of them. So it seems wheel lock up is on AI cars and not just our cars. This is good for a sim racer.

#3 The AI car's seem to have no traction control. computer cars now get sideways in the turns and smoke starts flying out the back tires, they no longer turn like there slot car's with 10+ traction control.

4# AI speed and difficulty seems to be increased some what higher then prologues. There alot quicker through turns. An example of the Huge field slow down in gt5p would be daytona road. at the chicanes. you can speed through on the apex but the AI just doddles along. then speed up on the straight. Seems like AI will now speed along the apex of turns.

What do you think about this. i'm surprised this was not talked about before.
This is a very big key feature for offline play.

Whooaa! A thread that isn't about damage!

Only just got into work so I'll be hunting around for vids that I've missed. Thanks for the heads up re: IGN. I'll go have a look.

Yeah the AI has definitely been improved. Which looks like the game is going to be a lot more challenging and aggressive when playing with the AI. Something that is lacking in the past.

Though for #1 i believe the RX7 span out cause it had some contact with the Subaru and other cars. Which is good as normally it will bounce of the other car and continue on its way like nothing happened.

Yeah i definitely noticed this too and one guy on GTRP also said the AI is more aggressive, it surprised him and he wasnt prepared for it, but he loved it at the end.

I never noticed #2 good call. Man the improved AI is gonna make such a difference when playing offline its gonna be sick

First vid - THE GUY PLOWED THROUGH A TIRE WALL AND THEY WENT FLYING OMG

...

I don't know why that has me excited :|

PSNkilluminati, thank you for the videos.

And with the first video i can confirm 2 important things. AI is very fast and agressive and just because you push them into a wall does not mean they will slam on brakes, they will keep fighting back accelerating. and they will now make no attempt to just stay behind you. if your in there way they will pass you. "RX7 and EVO double overtake in the first video 3:14. this game is really impressing me. and the AI tire lock up and no tcs is now confirmed as well.

And second off topic thing i will anounce in another thread.

Don't forget he hit the GT barriers and they moved... I remember when hitting cones in gt3 and 4 use to impress me. Also that was thing i was gonna mention in the track deformation thread. Alot of important key features being confirmed.

Seeing as the AI are much improved, would it be feasible to include them in online races to bolster the numbers of races? Because I'm sick of racing 1 or 2 people for 10 laps round Suzuka!

Also, in that 7 minute video, does the red tuned Mitsubishi Evo have sponsership decals on it or is it my imagination?

Good idea. I would like to see this as an option. So in private rooms you can choose to have some bots to fill up the field if you want, or as placeholders for other people.

It does. It's the HKS CT230R:

Seeing as it is listed as the "HKS CT230R '08" instead of the "Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII Tuned", It might. I'm carefuly skimming the video and trying to see. The reflections might be throwing us off.

Edit: Yep, it does. Pause the video at 2:01 and you'll clearly see two of them. This also seems to confirm my theory that the Tuned Evo in GT5P is based off the HKS CT230R.

Edit 2: Beaten to it

Oooh! I've just realised that you can actually see the side of the cars which means that the cars won't move like they're stuck to the floor!

I agree that the AI looks majorly improved, and noticed all the improvements stated in the first post. Hopefully this makes the offline mode a lot more enjoyable than the one in GT5P. :)

It does indeed look like the AI is much improved! Which is a very, very good thing! :)

I also like how the collision physics seem a lot better.👍

I've noticed all of these things too :)

What still bugs me: The Audi R8 (in front of the player) takes the same line and makes the same mistake over and over again at the first turn (he locks up for about half a second).
So the AI isn't completely random though. But yes, they are vastly improved.

I recall the AI to be diffrent on tracks.

So I won't make an assumption form a Demo at one track yet. 👍

Yep, it's not a dynamic action, it's pre-programmed and that's what makes Gran Turismo's AI bloody awful. It's the same as Prologue - you're not in a race you're in a dull procession. :yuck:

I won't say its improved until I actually play it for myself, but the AI in these videos don't look impressive.

Yada yada, AI "looks" good - it "looks" good in the previous games, but isn't...

you just going to go round threads dismissing any positives and being as negative as possible ?

I havent really had time to spend ages trying to get details out of the video thats now appearing, so very thankful to GTPlanet for digging up this kind of info!

This sounds like one of the best improvements I have read so far,
good AI has been something I've always found rather lacking from GT games, and now it looks like they may have cracked it!

I don't know if this has been brought up but the video that's currently the first post on the home page, if you look towards the end of the video int he replay where the pile up occurs, you can clearly see a red Lancer i believe, exiting the last turn and driving AT LEAST 50-100m only to drive right into the pile up even though there was a clear lane to avoid it.

I KNOW I KNOW It is a 3 minute build, but for all the AI tweaks so far, i would have thought that one would be obvious.

Love absolutely everything about the game so far and can only look up.

4:12 Red Lancer (VI or VII) exits turn.

Yes, this does indeed look like a game we have a good chance of falling in love with. I enjoyed the A.I. even of Prologue, and considering the PC sims I own (GTR Evo, LFS, rFactor) have A.I. which really aren't any better, I'm set for whatever GT5 has to offer me. Room for improvement? Sure, but this applies to every game.

It's very hard to wait on this game... thank God I have diversions like Prologue, music and writing to keep me distracted. ;)

I just wish they would get rid of rolling starts! Or have double line, rolling starts! Like most all racing series , that have rolling starts.
