Honestly I'm more frustrated with the fixed setup. I mean, its pulling the inside front wheel off the ground due to the soft rear bar and stiff front.

Yeah, I gave up on the first quali session for Mosport... Such a shame, such a great car ruined by a poor setup.

Good thing, I wasn't the only one who opted out of mosport. You said it was a dream @ mosport, but now I realize, you weren't driving base setup.

However, Laguna seca was bad, it could've been better, but it was drivable. but also I think the thousands of laps (literally, I spent days in one car at a time and would do 100-200 laps a day every weekend for 2-3 months) I did on GT5 at laguna seca helped. I knew it in GT5 like the back of my hand, but now it feels like GT5 got me my private pilot's license and iRacing is allowing me to get my commercial pilot's license, it's just another entire step up.

On a side note, I came up with some goofy setup today @ okayama that made me 3 wheel around the hairpin, my goal was to be affected by the bump on exit as little as possible. I thought it was funny but ineffective, it started teetering like chair with 1 leg longer than the others

I'll be missing round 1. Work is a 🤬!!!!! Should be good for the rest of them, but I'm a bit peeved by having to miss the first one.

Nice video Magz, looks like we had some fun n the sounds of the cars overlappin each other sound great. be a shame not to see a full grid on race day cus anything can and usually does happen on race day, leaders crashin takin each other out, racin incidents etc n so on, there's always guna be points up for grabs and people who are quicker on 1 track my not finish or score points at the next track. my set is there for anyone who wants it, may not be the fastest but i think its very stable and a good all rounder plus very forgiving.after all this is the Gentlemans Cup, until the lights go green:)

I just wanted to let everyone know I'm going to host a practice tonight from 9pm-11pm eastern time. I haven't been able to make any of the first 2 so I figured I would host one. The room name will be GTP Cadillac Cup and the password will be GTP.

Thank you sir! I'll drop by and run some laps!

thanks, time pending, I will too. I did a practice about 10 mins and I used the baseline setup and it wasn't as bad a what I had tried yesterday, and then I realized that all the setups I had, were from before all the updates, has anybody done any post-update ones?

I'll share the ones I have!

Hey guys, after todays practice, I realized I'm probably going to be a big hazard, If I don't get any better by sunday, I'll skip okayama purely because I don't want to be the one to ruin any of your days. But between now and then, I'll be practicing. My weakest points are the off camber turn 2, and the bump coming out of the weird double angle hairpin (turn 4 or 5?)

On the upside, I did a 1:35 before I left :), up from 1:38. I just can't do more than 2 consecutive laps with out spinning.

And jav, I watched a little bit of your lap and you look so smooth and it looks like you are taking your time, while I feel like I'm fighting it and driving the wheels off of it, yet you're 5 seconds faster comparing best to best when I left

I wouldn't worry about you times to much. As long as you can keep it on the road you will be fine. Average times should also be considered, of course the faster guys will have a faster average as well. If a person can string together 10 laps without any incidents I don't think you will be a hazard on the road. It's the people that crash at every turn that you have to watch out for. :)

I'm guessing the race distance for the first round will be between 25 and 30 laps. I have only had time to hot lap. To those who have done some race distance testing, how many pit stops are you anticipating and what are they for (tires, fuel, both)? Is the race intended to be ran without stopping?

Btw, if you're having trouble handling the understeer (as I am), read these post:

My chances of having zero spins or offs in 45 minutes are slim!

Good question. I too think the race will be between 25-30 laps. I don't know if we will get quite to 30 or not because how the tires fall off. It looks like 18 gallons is good for 30 laps. I think that's what I'm going with and no pit stop. In the practice I hosted I did a couple 10 lap runs and my tires were still at 96%. They do fall off right much from a hot lap, but I don't think its worth trying to make a pit stop cause it will take too much time.

I was finally able to get a 29 tonight with a 29.6. I think I could knock off another couple tenths but I wanted to work on race runs instead of hot laps.

Also I see that it's 2 fast tows. What is that exactly? Does it get your car back to the pit faster or does it repair all your damages instantly? I've only done I race I think with it before, but I don't plan on using it :) lol.

could you guys let me no if when doing a test in your own test sessions you get tyre wear, cause last night i did some testing in my own test room and i did around a 45 minute run, i did about 31-33 lap but my tyres were still showing 100% on all 4 tyres, i started with 23 gals and i had 4 left when i finished, surly theres got to be some tyre wear or do you not get tyre wear in your own test ?my average lap time was around .33 to .34 secs with some .35s and .36s but was still able to do .32s and .33s in the last laps because the fuel had gone down, am i over looking something, be great if you guys could let me no thanks.

Did you pit and change tyres at the end of your session? As far as I know, the tyre wear shows the wear from the last set on the car; not your current set of tyres (it's not a 'live' wear indicator like GT5). So, you'd need to change tyres to see how much they'd worn (as in a real race car) :)

Thanks for the info:) in that session i just did the 1 straight run out off the pits but did not change tyres just ended run. During the session i kept lookin at tyre info on the F6 or F7 whichever key it is cant quite remember off the top of my head:dopey: but thanks anyway i will keep that in mind on my next long test runs and change tyres at end to check wear:)

feel alot stupid na:sick:been doin iracing since Nov 2011 and just learn how tyre wear indication works plus all my lap times were invalid cause ive been using autoblip, just have to get back to the test session and test some more.they say you learn something new every day at least i do anyway with iracing, suppose thats the beauty of it:)

Guys the practice session is gonna be starting 2hrs later than intended. I forgot to change the starting time before launching the session... Sorry.

mamenzies
plus all my lap times were invalid cause ive been using autoblip,

what? I use it since I don't have a clutch, it invalidates what times?

So 20 or 22 GMT?

Yeah I not sure what you mean that auto blip invalidates lap times. I've been using it ever since I've started iracing so it defiantly doesn't affect your lap times being counted. Also to check your tire wear go back into the garage after your run and pull up the tire pressure screen. It will show your wear and temps from the previous run. If your looking at your black box for tire wear it's going to show the wear from your last set of tires not the ones your currently on.

As far as the total laps go I highly doubt we will even get to 30 laps. To get to 30 laps in 45 minutes you would have to run 1:30's the whole race. Mamenzies, if you were averaging 1:33's you didn't didn't get in 31 laps in the 45 minutes. The math just doesn't work out lol. I'm thinking we will get around 28 laps or so in the 45 minutes.

with my earlier runs i was using autoblip and not autoclutch, autoclutch is fine to use, not quite sure about autoblip but i just done another 45 mins test session with autoclutch and not autoblip and results were same:) I was only saying that in my test runs i thought they may be inappropriate if i was using autoblip when the rest of you guys are using only autoclutch, does this make any sense to you guys or am i just gong on a bit to much about clutches, lol

yes your right, the maths dont work out and i was wrongly stateing the laps what i ran in 45minutes, my point was the safe amount of fuel needed to run the race plus the average lap time, but the test i ran was mybe 1 to 2 laps longer in total plus my time setting car up before i started session which might have been around 1 minute o so i cannot be precise about that,so i am sorry to misquote myself.

test session is online and will be for another 5 hrs and 42 mins

I shared a setup (it's a modified version of MadRR's setup), I think it's stable but slower than his original, try lowering the drivetrain preload more than I did if it's too slow for you

Well it turns out changing out the seat in my cockpit is a bigger hassle then I thought. I have to remove the top bases because I don't have enough leg room, Also since its a real car seat it leans back, and that makes my steering wheel farther then it should be. If I make it closer it collides with my shifter mount. Agh...

Small chance I'll make it to race day :(

what time is the main race session due to start GMT? apologies if i haven't seen the race schedule in the treads.

Server goes online at 19GMT, 1hr practice, 2 lap/10 minute quali and 45 minute race.
